Wheatcraft Tree & Lawn

Wind damaged a very large oak breaking it off and it was suspended 10 ft. in the air by another tree. Very dangerous situation. I called a tree service recommended by a coworker. The guy called back and said he'd call again to set up an appointment. Thirty(30) days later I was still waiting. After doing some checking, I decided to call Wheatcraft. I spoke with Jim at 3:45 and he was at my front door at 5:45 the same day. I received an estimate the same day and an option to have more work done. I asked Jim to handle all the drought and wind damaged trees. It was a HUGE job requiring part of my fence to be removed to access the yard. Wheatcraft did the job in ONE day and also put the fence back up. They turned my tree nightmare into a dream come true. I now have a landscaping opportunity! I will only deal with Wheatcraft in the future and highly recommend them.

Everything went better than expected. I was lucky to contact Jim while he happened to be near my location. He arrived about 10 minutes later, looked the tree over, and gave me a written estimate. The price was reasonable and I hired him immediately. He happened to have a crew working a job a few miles away. Since mine was a small job, he had his crew stop at my house when they finished at the other location. The trimming was performed the same day. They did an excellent job and I am very satisfied. I recommend them highly.

My house was last on Wheatcraft's schedule on 08/09/13. To be honest, after being called and told the crew might not make it due to prior customers adding more work to their load, I did not expect them until Monday or Tuesday. I was OK with waiting a couple days though, because the estimate they gave was better than any I had received. To my surprise, the crew showed up at my house despite having an already long day. They arrived at around 5 PM and had the tree down, the lawn cleaned up, and drove away in a matter of a couple hours. I was very impressed that even after the guys had a long Friday, and being the last customer of the night, the Wheatcraft crew did such a great job.

They did an amazing job cutting down two tall trees in our backyard. One was a very large fir tree that was leaning towards the neighbor's house, and the other was an Ash tree that was diseased. They also cut down a medium size decorative tree in the front yard. All went smoothly and it looks great now! Additionally they trimmed two medium sized trees, and they look very nice. They cut down a very large overgrown Bradford Pear in the front of the house next to the driveway and leveled out the ground. It looks great now! The only problem we had was that when they were done, there was brown tree sap all over the driveway, I mean it was everywhere! It looked like there had been a horrible massacre in my driveway--yuck. The worker in charge of the crew said that it would wash off in the next rain, but it did not. My husband tried to power wash it off, and that had no effect on it. So I called the owner of the company and he came out the next day and spent the good part of the day cleaning it with a professional power washer and cleaning compound of some kind. Now my driveway looks beautiful and clean in that area. He was very apologetic and told me the crew should have put down some kind of plastic or tarp, as they were supposed to do, but they didn't. All in all, I was very happy with Wheatcraft and would surely hire them again.

They are very quick in responding and giving you an estimate. They come on time, do their job and clean up before they leave.

Wheatcraft came into our neightborhood and quoted everyone on our street to remove dead Ash trees in the park strips. We were tired of looking at dead trees and waiting for the city to remove them. We were not on the list for the city to remove our trees, so we decieded, as a whole street, to take advantage of the program the city offered to remove the trees at our expense. We were quoted by Wheatcraft to remove all the trees, and we then get a partial reimpursement from the city. We did all the paperwork, and then the city decided they were going to take out half the trees on our street. So, Wheatcraft worked with the homeowners and the city again, and they were able to remove the other half of the trees the city is not going to remove. They removed 12 or 13 trees on our street, stumps included, all in one day. The clean up was excellent and they were very easy to work with. I would recommend them to anyone. Anytime someone asked about tree removal, I will recommend them. And, by the way, the trees the city is going to remove, are still there. Thank you Wheatcraft for working with us and the city to get the eyesores removed. They did a great job.

Quoting with Wheatcraft is easy. They show up on time and get you a firm quote. i have used them a few times and every time is this way. Pricing may not be the absolute lowest but they are always aggressively priced and competitive. They are always easy and accomodating with their scheduling. They show up on time and cleanup is always complete. This tree they brought down as a monster and it was hanging OVER my house. They brought it down with great skill and they were extremely fast too. This is the only company to use for trees in Fort Wayne, as far as I am concerned.

He suggested that it would be a mistake to trim existing (very large) oak trees. Would cause more damage by trimming the lower branches we had wanted removed. Expected no less from them- they are honest as the day is long.

They came out one day after we called them for an estimate. They were very polite and personable. When they came out to do the work they were very fast, efficient and absolutely professional. The job was done very well. This company was a real pleasure to deal with. I will definitely use them again.

I called, next day they gave me an estimate, I emailed my acceptance and within a week the tree was down stump ground out, and everything removed. I no hassel experience.

After contacting multiple tree service companies we chose Wheatcraft due to them being highly recommended on Angie's list and providing the lowest estimate. We had to wait a few months to have the services provided once we sent in the signed estimate (None of the wait was of Wheatcrafts fault). Due to the location of the trees needing cut down/topped it required the company to drive in out yard. We sent in the estimate in late fall and with all the rain our yard was to soft to drive in. However, once the ground froze over I received a call and they were right out to perform the work. They had several workers to complete the job as quickly as possible and did a fantastic job of cleaning up all the mess. I would highly recommend giving Wheatcraft Tree & Lawn service a call for your next job.

When the estimator arrive the next day he recognized the house from previous dealings with my ex-husband. While he was looking over the project he kept mentioning that he would like to talk to my husband to work out a 'deal'. After the 3rd time asking to talk with my ex I informed him that he would have to deal with me. As a safety precaution I always respond as if I were still married. After that he was very curt, stopped looking at the damage and quickly wrote out an estimate. The estimate was over $1,000 more than the next highest bid. Needless to say I did not have this company perform the needed tree removal.

Excellent work. A group of three men came out and, within two hours, had everything removed without damaging the landscaping we wanted to retain.

I was in touch around June and we exchanged emails with them saying they'd get to us as soon as possible. (There had been severe wind damage in the area, plus many dead Ash trees in the Fort Wayne area). I was okay with the delay because our trees were not causing any structural problems etc. They did arrive without a call in the morning but it was fine because there was no need for anyone to be home, although I was home that day. We were given a small discount. I believe it was for using Angie's List and for paying the entire amount that day.

Wheatcraft was one of three tree/lawn services contacted; quote was the lowest, and I really appreciated the Angie's List discount. Work was completed in five hours; they arrived on time and did not stop until work was completed. Wheatcraft's personnel treated me and my property with the utmost respect. I will certainly use again should I need any more trees remove from my property.

Jim and his crew did an outstanding job. The job was completed in less than the estimated time and for less than the estimated price.

Called and Jim came out a couple of days later to give me a quote. He printed off a quote and handed it to me before he left. My wife and i discussed it, and based on the price, I asked him to quote removing a couple of bushes that were dying at the end of my driveway. Jim looked at the pictures I sent him and quoted a fair price on removing the bushes. I manually updated the quote and signed it and sent it back to Jim. He said he'd probably be out the next week. Then the big storm hit Fort Wayne. The next week came and went and no tree removal. The next week, my wife called and they said that the storm kept them swamped with emergency business. When I talked to Jim later, he said he went from doing 30 quotes a week to 30 quotes a week. I had no problem that he was helping out people who had downed trees due to the storm. Luckily, we came out of it unscathed. Jim said he would be out the following mid to late next week. He showed up at 8am and started bringing down the trees. About half an hour later, the rest of his crew showed up with the tree shredder. They started hauling everything out of the yard and into the shredder. About an hour an half later. The trees were down, the hedge was out and the bushes were out also. Jim left an invoice and said that he had to get going and he pointed out who was in charge and if I needed anything, I should talk to him. A half our later, the yard was raked, the sidewalk near the hedge was cleaned, and the driveway was clean of all debris as well. You'd never know they were there except the trees were gone. Very professional and quick.

Jim Wheatcraft and crew did a great job. They even came out on Sunday because the tree on the house presented a risk if more winds and needed to get the weight off the house. They worked until 9:30 PM. They were very professional, nice and caring. They called before coming and promptly answered calls even though it was weekend. I'd use them again.

From start to finish everything was wonderful. The response for the estimate of the work was prompt and everything was explained in detail. The job was done within less than a week of the estimate and we could not be more pleased. Everything was done exactly as explained and went very smoothly. The most impressive thing is the complete cleanup that was done afterward. Our property was cleaner after the job was done than beforehand. We are very pleased with Wheatcraft and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

The Wheatcraft crew worked quickly and efficiently; both trees were on the ground within an hour! Clean-up was extremely thorough. Employees were professional and courteous. Would recommend again.

We receieved three quotes and Wheatcraft came in the lowest. We also received a referral for them from a friend. The work was done in an afternoon. Very prompt service. We have four more trees to take down for the same reason in our backyard and they will definitely be doing the job.
