I did not choose them. They weren't really speedy on getting an estimate or a response. That is when I chose somebody else. Their responsiveness was slow. They never got to the point of getting there on time. I would not consider hiring them in the future.
Description of Work: Thomas Electric gave us an estimate six months ago on replacing the service entrance box.

Scheduling was a little tough at first (his voicemail is always full and if he doesn't pick up, good luck). We eventually worked something out. He came and knocked out little parts of the job a little bit at a time. When it got to the junction box for the vanity in the bathroom, he installed it three inches right of center, making it impossible to install the light centered above the sink. I called him saying "what is this?" He came and fixed it and said on the phone "I don't know why I didn't measure that..." We had to wait for another contractor to install a ceiling vent before Irving could put the wiring in for my bathroom fan, and there was a stall there. While we waited to get that contractor in, my appointment for refinishing my hardwood floor came up. We redid the whole house, did a beautiful job, and the last coat of finish went on at about 7 PM on Sunday, 3/29. About a day later, Irving got in and did his job. However, he felt that an uninstalled bathroom cabinet was in his way, and he dragged the cabinet out of the bathroom and across a freshly finished, partially cured floor, and created about a 36" long trail of scuffs, some of which went ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE WOOD, against the grain! After being told specifically, in plain english, not to do anything remotely like that. You can imagine my fury upon discovering this... I asked Irving if he caused the damage, he said he dragged the cabinet. I said we have to work this out and I would have to call him back. I started getting advice and quotes on a repair, and he took the liberty of entering my house while I wasn't there, taking photos of the floors (now dusty with drywall dust from other work), and since the scratches weren't readily visible under dust and a sheet of red rosin paper, he claims that the scratches are "microscopic." According to the pros (and my research) these scratches to the wood will discolor if not treated, and it's a big job fixing it. The lowest quote I got on repair was $500, but I said I would consider it fixed if he just gave me $$ to pay for a gallon of sealer and a gallon on finish so I could do a DIY patch job and maybe get this looking OK. That costs about $100. He wouldn't have it. He offered $50. No dice, that won't cover even a cheap patch-up job. He says he will have his "business manager" call me. Sheila Thomas (wife?) calls me and says they will give me $50 and I needed to pay up or they will take "additional steps." What steps? "It will involve an attorney." I ask "why don't you just have your liability insurance adjuster check it out. You do have insurance, right?" Irv says "I can't talk about that..."? YEAH RIGHT! He tried to guilt-trip me for asking him to install white fixtures when he already had beige ones purchased. He said I would be responsible for the cost. Really? Because you didn't ask what color I wanted? And what, you're not going to get your money back when you return that stuff? Sketchy! Issues unresolved
Description of Work: 1) GFI outlets installed at kitchen sink and bathroom sink 2) Wire pulled from bathroom circuit to vanity light and ceiling fixture 3) Junction boxes installed in basement and bathroom to get work up to code 4) 120v circuit installed for bathroom I purchased a house that needed a lot of work. I got a quote from Irving for $1135 to get my electric up to code and put two GFI outlets in. Once Irving got in, It turned out there was only one circuit upstairs so he added a circuit that went to the bathroom.

I received your letter concerning the above property. The complaint being made has nothing to do with electrical work as it has been completed, passed inspection, is code compliant and even reworked to promote customer satisfaction. Before beginning the work the customer never requested a change in color of the electrical devices installed so we purchased the color that was standard throughout the house (ivory). After we began the work and had installed new Ivory colored GFCI devices, the customer requested white electrical devices. This resulted in an unnecessary trip to the electrical distributor, the cost of new electrical devices and additional work because the customer did not specify what color was preferred. The result now is that the customer has some ivory and some white electrical devices in his home. Despite this lack of communication no additional cost was charged for the extra trip, material, time or additional labor. The work was completed according to the contract and color preference. After the work was completed the customer complained about scratches on the hallway floor outside a bathroom. I went over to look at the scratches. It is very difficult to see any scratches with the naked eye. I took pictures of them with a digital camera and again it is very difficult to see scratches in the pictures. The member said that he wanted me to deduct $100.00 from the balance he owed me. I asked him to get written estimates from a couple of flooring companies of what it would take to “fix” the problem. The member never got the written estimates but told me he got verbal quotes of $1000.00 over the phone without anyone coming out to look at the floor. Again he asked me to deduct $100.00 from the balance owed to me and also asked me to do some additional electrical work for him at no cost. I told him I had to discuss this with my business manager. I then asked my business manager to call one of the same flooring companies (Classic Floor) that the member told me he had called and she spoke to a flooring expert. She was told that to replace a wood floor that was severely damaged could cost as high as $1000.00 but if you can hardly see the scratches in a photograph then possibly some Murphy’s Oil Soap could fix the problem. The comment about the china cabinet and the floor was a direct quote from the flooring expert! We again asked the member if he was going to get written estimates. He said no and he would settle for $100.00 and the free electrical work. I then told him that he needed to pay me for completing the electrical work and as a gesture of good faith and compromise I would deduct $50.00 from the remaining balance. He then said he was going to the BBB and Angie’s list with a complaint. I said I was sorry he felt that way but since he was going to do that I would need to request the entire balance due. The member is making this damage appear to be much more serious than it really is those scratches in no way went to the wood. The bottom line is this is all opinion and supposition because we never received the written estimates requested. As of this writing we have not received final payment for the work completed and I have alerted my attorney as the member is in contract violation. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to respond to this complaint.

I would highly recommend Thomas Electric. They showed up when they said that they were going too. The price was fair and the work was really good. I called them about an electrical panel that was buzzing and they replaced all of the breakers at my request.

Thankfully, the problem didn't turn out to be more complicated than just replacing the light fixture. I was impressed with the fact that the serviceman suggested a way for me to save money on the repair. I also appreciate the fact that the company supports green technology.
Description of Work: I had no power to the ceiling light in my kitchen. When I contacted the serviceman, he told me that he thought the problem was in the fixture. He suggested that I could purchase a fixture at a home improvement store, hardware store, etc at a lower cost and he would come and install it. I did purchase the fixture. The problem was, indeed, just the fixture and the new one was installed in about 30 minutes or so.
