Let's start with the fact that Derek & Katrina are genuinely wonderful people! We thought (& think) the world of them both. You simply won't meet better folks - salt of the earth! As far as a contracting experience, however, after several jobs we have gone elsewhere. The quality of the work was mostly top notch, but it often took an excessive amount of back and forth to get there. Derek is a busy guy! So if you want a contractor you will see on a fairly regular basis, Sky's the Limit should NOT be your choice, it's just that simple. Derek bids his jobs in an extremely professional manner, with a complete spreadsheet breakdown of every aspect and contingency, amazingly thorough and far better than most contractors in my experience. But once the job starts and he assigns a crew, you won't see Derek again until it's time to make another payment. And hey, I don't hold that against him - like I said, he is a BUSY guy, lots going on besides remodeling - but if you are a customer who wants a contractor to be truly engaged in your project, if you want to see him every few days or even once a week, then you should definitely go elsewhere for your remodeling needs. We had several issues arise during various projects. That's normal, right? Remodeling always has hiccups, nothing extraordinary there. Trouble was, Derek would only come out when something was at an absolute impasse because, there again, he was simply too busy to check in. So he left his crew (good guys) to fix or deal with complications and honestly - from where I was sitting, as a customer - they were not always as happy to make things as right as Derek would have been. More than once, a foreman and I were left shaking our heads at one another, both of us at our wit's end. Was I picky customer? Maybe. But hey, when you are paying thousands and thousands of dollars to get work done you have a right to be! Anyway, by the time the last job (which was drawn out due to "complications") was over my wife and I both agreed, no more Sky's the Limit. We really like Derek, but what does that matter if you almost never see him? We wish he & Katrina all the future success in the world and we are genuinely grateful for the work, most of which was handled quite well, but we both decided that absentee contracting is no longer our thing! We prefer a contractor who is enthusiastically engaged in our projects (which we have sense found) rather than someone who has so many fingers in so many pies that small time remodeling is not really their focus.

Derek did an excellent job. We were concerned that it might be noticeable that the cabinet had been rebuilt, but were pleased with the outcome. He, also, needed to add and stain some trim work to match. Derek was very professional, and we would hire him again in the future.

It went well! Derek was prompt in responding to questions, and showing up when he said he would. He was flexible with his time when I had some trouble finding the right tile. He was careful to make sure I was happy with everything before he left, and was willing to fix any issues I might have had (but I didn't have any). He did good work for a reasonable price.
