RESTORE-IT

I chose Restore-It based on an Angie's List report. My experience was the opposite of the glowing report another customer had.

When I called to inquire about an estimate, the woman was very congenial and encouraging for me to come in right away and bring the chair. I did just that and when I got there, was told the upholsterer had left so I couldn't get an estimate that day

I left the chair and waited for her to call me the next day. I was told the cost would be $550.00. Since the chair belonged to my grandmother and had sentimental value, which I expressed to her, I agreed to the terms. The showroom fabric selections were limited in regard to the quote given, which meant settling for something not necessarily pleasing or paying a much higher price.

I was told I could expect the item in about 4 weeks. The completion turned out to be longer.

When I went to pick up the chair, I was hit with a list of unbundled charges that inflated the original quote by about 10%. The retying of springs was seperate from the labor, tack labor, tacks French reglue, buttons surface, int structure and material were listed. I found the itemization odd as I had never had upholstering, after the fact, presented in such a way. 

I later had a conversation with the owner of another upholstery business about Restore-It's methods. He was familiar with what they did and went on to explain how much the actual cost for the items they choose to list out and charge for is...peanuts. Something his operation does not do.

When I picked up my chair, I was provided a discount coupon by Restore-It for 15% off my next order if made within 30 days. Really, expand the original quote and then offer it back on the next fleecing. No thank you.

They did a beautiful job. They were very friendly and informative. They did it in a timely fashion. They did a gorgeous job on this table. It was a small antique table that I got at a garage sale for $2. It was all beat up but I could see that it had beautiful scrollwork on it. It was a half table that fits against the wall and it just looked terrible but it was all in tact and it wasn't broken or anything. I took it over there and it turned out that it was solid walnut with a walnut veneer on top. It is gorgeous. They glued it together in a few places. It had a lot of spindles in it and he did all of that. It came out gorgeous. The price was more because it had so much ornate stuff on it. It is the best looking thing in the house. It is a nice place and they are friendly. They did a really good job. I’d had the table for quite a few years ad never had done anything with it.

I delivered the chair to their former location on Sherman. The new location opened before my promised completion date, so I picked it up at the new and beautiful location on N. Wells, just S. of Fernhill. It was completed in timely facing. They had repaired another chair for us, leather backed and few years ago and it was fabulous. They weren't sure how it would turn out but it looks just like the matching chair we had. They were realistic so I was amazed at the quality of the work.
