I hired Paul Davis to lay laminate flooring in my kitchen and hallway. My ice maker coil leaked that lead to my kitchen walls, kitchen floors, hallway, and my small bathroom to get wet. This claim started in Nov of 2021. I got an estimate from Paul Davis from my insurance company. To pull the cabinets out in my kitchen to repair the wall, put the cabinets back in, redo the trim in the small bathroom, lay the flooring, etc... It was close to 5000. The only documents or paperwork given to me about the cost and work that needed done was the estimate. In it, documented my small bathroom being redone with trim, the washer and dryer area being redone with drywall, counters, trim, etc.... Originally, we thought my kitchen cabinets had to be pulled out to repair a wall that got wet, but just taking off the counter, we found out, there was no wall, (there's no wall, to be fixed with no cabinets pulled out and back again to be charged).... More then half of the work did not get done. I received, finally, a bill after a month and half. It was NOT an itemized bill like I asked! It just has what is due which is around 4600. Ok. I asked for an itemized bill because after dealing with them for a few months, I knew, they would overcharge. If an itemized bill can not be issued, clearly there's charges on it that should not be charged. This was one of the most stressful and terrible experiences of my life. The first time that someone came out to do work, was a man and a woman. She said that she was still training. All they did was take off my kitchen counter to try to look at the kitchen wall to see if it was damaged. It turns out, a previous owner had that part of the wall removed. It must of flooded and got wet at a different time. There was just a small piece of the wall from under the sink that had mold that I pointed out. I said I would paint it with mold primmer. The guy said he was leaving to get mold primmer spray paint. I did not think spray paint was a good idea, the spot was small and could be reached with a paint brush. He got primer and missed the spot and got paint on the inside of my cabinets. Then he put the counter back on not even flush against the wall and my paint chipped and cracked around the counter. The only part of the wall that needed repaired was a small area behind my fridge. He really replaced a small amount of drywall then mudded it, then told me to sand it and paint it and left. These people did a terrible job. The girl was new. These were not highly trained and skilled employees and the job was small and done horrible. This charge should not be crazy high. I have pics. Then the paint and floor guy was suppose to come out and never showed up. Finally, the painter was calling me at work, like three times saying he's on his way to paint! Nobody scheduled this appointment. I had to leave work! Then I asked before the work even got started if I could pick up the paint color and flooring. Yea that's a joke. I had to pick a color on the phone! So I just said like an off white!!!! Who picks a color on the phone! He didn't fix the counter and painted an area that looks like he put concrete on the wall because it was so thick. He missed a part of the wall. I ended up repainting most and painted all my trim, door, window, etc.... He didn't even prep the walls. He even said yea, I'm suppose to wait between coats and do so many, but.....I got to get it all done in a day. Oh ok super. The floor people didn't show again. Then, they would just pop up whenever. It took days for 3 people to do that..... All they did was smoke cigarettes and fight. They were not highly trained or ever even laid that material either. They had to remove my old tiles and concrete the floor. Of course they waited to do under the dryer and washer last. It was wet and they had to finish that day and just laid that on wet ground and didn't concrete under that. Then when they removed my trim, they tore my wall! They didn't do all the door transitions which oh I'm sure I got charged for them! They even had a door transition ordered and it wasn't even for my house and I am pretty sure I payed for that! When they got down they would wait in my house laying on the floor for a ride even sleeping! They took the Menards rebate when I payed for the supplies! After he charged me even more for my flooring when they took a sample and did an estimate then charged me like double! I even broke up and trashed my laminate flooring. They even put trash in my outside garbage can but charged me to get rid of materials! My tiles cracked because it took them so long to start working. I work third shift, I would have to rush home then not sleep and this was for weeks. At one point, I got a call, they were dropping off my flooring so I had to get home!!!! Or I guess it would be left outside! I had to guess what, leave work again!I was even scared to sleep because I could get robbed because one dude woke me when I slept once asking me about my collection in a different room!! Finally I said don't do the trim, you have messed up everything! Then they wanted to use my old baseboards but charge me ? He then told me to pick between baseboards or trim. I said no so he said he won't put trim just new baseboards and he will be so kind to take half the cost and I just need to pay 100 more!!!! I went and brought trim and new baseboards and it was a total of 150! Including more wall covering to try to cover my torn wall! Then he had me sign some paper and not sleeping for days, I was worn out. I just signed because I couldn't fight. Then I realized after he left, that probably was retyped and not the original estimate and he just had me sign that to force me to pay him in a contract and was rewrote to not include everything because he left with it and I didn't get a copy! That guy was manipulating and trying to charge a single mother with no child support a fortune because he was playing mind games lying. He would keep changing the price on everything. I could write so so so much more, I paid my bill knowing I just got screwed. This is a horrible company. I do not recommended them. In order to fix all their mistakes in just the hallway, I had to remove my wallpaper, fix the walls, and paint the walls! Then since my counter was not flush against my kitchen wall and there was not caulk or anything to stop water from trickling down the wall behind my sink, it smells like mold under my sink when you open the cabinets, exactly what I told the company would happen!!!!! This company even showed up at my mom's house asking about a fire she just had asking for work! I was sitting right there like really! Don't hire them!!!! I have to hire someone to fix my counter! I want to sue them!

Sometimes it is clear that two people are not meant to work together. As we moved through this project this became clear to Paul Davis. We credited [Member Name Removed] with all items not completed yet by Paul Davis so she has the money to hire whomever she desires. Very true the job is not complete, but what wasn't completed has been compensated to her.

Initial contact went well… their adjuster came out and inspected the damage in a timely manner. We needed half of our house roof and barn roof replaced plus miscellaneous small things. The last we heard from him he needed to contact our insurance claims adjuster for further clarification on repairs to be made and that was the last we heard from them. I’ve called the office twice, emailed the lady in the office once who responded she would forward my email and was told he would contact us. I emailed him directly twice and no response. I even spoke with their after hours guy and got nothing. The last person I spoke to on the phone said they were swamped with new claims from storms last week… so I guess we fell through the cracks. Overall, extremely disappointed with the run around I’ve received and lack of professionalism on their part. If you need a quote….they’re great! If you need actual work done… go somewhere else. Evidently, we have to. It’s been over 2 months since the storm damage occurred and we still have nothing from them.

Anthony Seffernick was our rep from Paul Davis. He was very professional, courteous, and would call to let us know be was on his way. The basement dried out completely. He did remove all the damaged carpet. He did come back for a few days to also check on how dry the walls were. We would hire this company again and request Anthony to do the job.

Inspection was great! Stephen was very knowledgeable and concerned about our mold issue. He used sophistacedted equipment. Stephen was great about answering questions even though he hadn't yet received our business. We ended up going with a different company, because they quoted the same service plus additional for half of the price. Wish I could have used Paul Davis to see how well they would do.

The cleaning part of it was pretty good. As far as being on time and having to come back to do things I would rate them about 60/40, somewhere around there. They had an odd time delivery. Their quality of work was good, it just took a lot of time to get it done. Their pricing was actually pretty decent.

Great work! Their people are respectful, clean and do efficient work.
We had a water line break right after we returned home from spring break. Our insurance company sent out Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling. The water extraction team were good, but it all went down hill as soon as they started fixing the damage. First they never showed up on time if at all, everything is sub-contracted so I had different people for the paint, the dry wall, and the flooring. My husband had built me a small step in our laundry room for my front loading washer and dryer, which had to come out due to the water damage along with the wood flooring in the kitchen. It was not done correctly, we told them all the measurements and what materials we had used and the guy that built it(who was also the painter and dry waller) didn't seem to understand measurements, it was to short and instead of getting the right materials he rigged it up by stacking wood up. The drywall and paint turned out ok other than he didn't move anything away from the walls to paint behind them. The floor installers did a terrible job! the step in the laundry room is also covered with wood laminate and when we looked at it after they had finished with it, it did not even go completely across to both walls, so there are gaps all the way around. All the transition pieces are coming up and the the front of the step is falling off. They did not even put one of the transitions pieces in because it needed to be nailed down and he did not want to mess with it. When Paul Davis Restoration called with an automated survey I gave them a 1, so when our contact person came out he wanted to know why we gave them a 1 so I took him around our home showing him what all we were not happy about and all he said was "A 1 seriously"? Never once did he offer to make this right or fix the problems. We got tired of dealing with them and decided we would just fix the issues ourselves at a later time. We signed off on the work, not happy at all but tired of dealing with them! I would never again use this company! Worst experience I 've had with any company

Response from Paul Davis
RE: Amanda Resor Review posted May 3, 2015. Status: Job completed May, 2012, Certificate of Completion signed by Ms. Resor, May 2012, payment in full received, job closed. Comments: Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling makes every effort to meet our customers’ expectations with professional service and by responding promptly to any concerns. Unfortunately we cannot respond to concerns of which we are unaware. Our normal warranty on workmanship is two years – the longest in the area and normally sufficient to cover any problem not related to a material defect. Although this concern is being brought to our attention three years after work was completed, we would be pleased to inspect the problem and correct any defect related to our workmanship. We inform every customer that the Certificate of Completion is their assurance of complete satisfaction.

I called the company because I found mold in my parents' home. Steven Mwaniki called me back right away and we scheduled an appointment for an assessment later that day. He spent lots of time with me explaining the issues and how to prevent the problem in the future. He used sophisticated equipment including an infrared camera, a moisture sensor and a particle counter. He developed a detailed project list and then his team began executing to that action plan within two days! The whole team was impressive--professional, courteous, and expert. I knew we were in good hands. They came back after the cleaning was dry--on time and with a level of expertise that I am just not used to. Everything was handled. I didn't have to worry about a thing. Because of Paul Davis and especially to Steven, my parents were restored to normal. Thank you so much!!!

Repairs were done in a professional manner,. They included remediation of water soaked areas, replacement of drywall on ceiling and wall, painting of damaged areas. Although only a small area of the ceiling was damaged, ;they completely redid sthe entire spanish lace ceiling. Remediation was done promptly, however other repairs took over three months due to slow coordination with my insurance company. Some of the delay w as caused by the insurance company, but there appeared to be some company internal coordination problems.

There was one person, the coordinator, who was hard to get a hold of on the phone, which was frustrating. I had a better response via email with him. We had several talks with Steven over what was going to be done until we were comfortable to go ahead. Steven is patient and a wonderful sense of humor, and a gentle way about him. His crew of two women worked well together. The basement was tackled the first day. The duct cleaning and eliminating the odor in the small room was done the second as planned. All went well. I do not have a record of the exact days worked so have had to guess at the bottom of this record, it was in September 2014
Description of Work: Removed 12 inches of paneling, fiberboard, insulation at the base of basement wall three quarters of the perimeter. Cleaned and painted the area exposed. Treated air in basement and upstairs. Used chemicals to rid small room of smell of dead animal. Cleaned furnace ducts.

We are very pleased by the responsiveness and efficiency of the technicians at Paul Davis. I was unsure of what kind of service we might get on a weekend, but we obviously were in need of something fast. Paul Davis arrived within an hour of our initial call, and just a few hours later, they had all of the standing water removed from our basement, and had set dehumidifiers and dryers throughout to get our basement dried quickly. They returned on Monday to assess the progress, to remove some of the equipment and to redirect the driers to the areas that were still showing some dampness. They then returned on Wednesday for a final assessment and to remove their equipment. Each time they came, they called about 30 minutes before arriving to insure it was still a good time. I work from our home, and each time they were respectful of my work area, and my time. They were prompt and professional at all times. They also have returned to conduct a final damage assessment and provide us with a quote for carpet sanitizing and repairs due to water damage. Their quote is in line with the quote our insurance adjuster did. They were very helpful in getting the invoice and damage quotes to our homeowners insurance quickly in order for it to be processed. We could not be happier with the work that Paul Davis provided for us. Their quick response to our frantic Sunday morning call insured that our water damage was not more than it was, and we appreciate all that they did and the professionalism they exhibited while conducting the work.

I have never seen such spectacular work. The estimator was great, the contractors did excellent work in a timely manner. I have used them twice and have not been disappointed, even as picky as I can be. They all used great caution within my home and respected their work areas and my privacy. The drywall installed and the painting were without flaws, they cleaned and sanitized the slab in both rooms from the flood water and restored everything to normal without so much as a hick-up.
