 + -1 moreBEWARE: We had work done by them. We waited over half a year for them to address and correct mistakes they made in their installation. We finally had to pay another company over $1500 to repair their horrible work!

 + -1 moreVery shoddy workmanship and the most unprofessional service I've ever experienced. Do not use! I had all new gutters installed by Knot Just Decks. It didn't take long to realize that nearly half of them were installed draining incorrectly! In addition, there were two leaks. I made many attempts to get them to correct the mistakes by contacting the sales rep., the project manager, and the owner. After 6 months, I finally had to hire a new company to reinstall them properly and professionally.

 + -1 moreEveryone at Knot Just Decks was excellent. Mike came out and finished the job in about 2 hours, and it is exactly what we wanted. They installed a gutter for us this time, but I would happily hire them for deck work, and other services they provide. The price initially seemed high, but after they were done, and the professional correspondence throughout made me feel like my money was well spent.
Description of Work: (1) 48' section of 6" gutter on the side of our horse barn.

 + -1 moreThey couldn't match the original octagon floor pattern in one section of my deck. I was specific about that section whey they first looked at and bid the job and I was assured it was no problem. I know it was difficult but doable as I initially installed the decking myself over 20 years ago. They wanted to correct their mistakes with slivers of decking which I did not allow. They never did get it correct but were obviously upset that I wanted it done right and I eventually let it go. They left wide gaps between boards. When I mentioned it they told me they were allowing for shrinkage! Shrinkage only made the gaps wider. They didn't know the top from the bottom of the boards. When I pointed out the boards that were upside down they begrudgingly replaced the ones I requested that I could see the ends of. Now a few years later many of the ones I couldn't see the ends of cup and hold rainwater shortening the life of the decking. Any professional deck builder should have known better. I did and I am not a professional. Many usable boards were thrown in the dumpster. Since I paid for the boards and the dumpster, I pulled out the usable boards and set them aside. Somewhere in the midst of all the errors, they took my salvaged boards! Very disappointed!

Workmanship and attention-to-detail was very high, and the staff was very open to design and construction suggestions. I would definitely recommend them for custom deck construction.

 + -1 moreMy deck was falling apart and I did not want to build it myself. They are excellent and did a fantastic job. They built it in 4 days and to my specifications. They helped me twig my specifications to what I wanted. Their attention to detail was beyond mine. I was impressed and I had to keep up to their level of craftsmanship. They used pressure treated pine to build.

 + -1 moreThey gave me 3 different drawings. They are very helpful. They have done their best to get out and do the work. I paid $13,000 for the deck. They went out of their way to do everything. I have no complaints.
Description of Work: I got an estimate from Knot Just Decks to put on a new deck. I'm waiting until I have my siding put on before I have the work done.

 + -1 moreThe installer arrived on the day I was told he would start, which is always nice. (Sometimes companies leave you wondering when they are going to show up.) Construction of the pergola occurred while I was at work, but the area was cleaned up when I returned home. As I recall, the project was completed in 2 days. Because the work was done in the Fall, I haven't had the opportunity to see how much and quot;shadeand quot; from the sun it provides. I'll be calling them in the Spring, however, for advice on staining it. Once that is done, and the patio is replaced, it should be a nice sitting area for reading and relaxing when I've had enough of the sun. I am pleased with the quality of the materials and the construction and would use this company again.
Description of Work: Knot just Decks installed a wooden Pergola above my existing concrete patio, and gave me advice as to how to move forward with the next phase of the project--ideas for replacing a small section of deck as well as the patio concrete, which has a crack in it.

 + -1 moreI bought a groupon to have Knot Just Decks clean out my gutters. I called, got in the queue, and they came out within a couple of weeks. We had a couple of hiccups. First, they wrote my phone number wrong so they didn't call before/after they did the work. This was a minor issue because they were supposed to call so I could clarify what work was to be done. They ended up cleaning more gutters than I wanted, but said they wouldn't charge me for the extra effort. Then, I got two different bills in the mail, one of which said I did owe money. I called and they apologized for the erroneous bill. They were quite friendly and kind and I think the work they did was probably fine (but I can't really get up on the roof and check it, mind you.) I'm torn about recommending them because there were some unprofessional/disorganized issues. But I have to say that in the end they didn't penalize me at all for those mistakes.

 + -1 moreIt took from May to December, countless phone calls, stopping by their shop, and stress on us to get them to complete the job as contracted. They never once called to let us know that they would not keep an appointment. They never checked to see if anyone was going to be home as we repeatedly requested. They were willing to do sloppy work to try to get their remaining monies. We feel certain that, had we not retained half of the payment, the work would never have been completed. We would not use this company again for any type of work. We are submitting this report so that others do not experience what we did.
Description of Work: We contracted with this company in mid-May to install a flagstone and pea gravel patio and walk. At that time we made a 50% down payment. We were told the work would begin in approximatley three weeks as they were backed up and would be completed within one week after they began, weather permitting. In late April we contacted them. We had had a rainy spring but were told that they would be out the next week. In mid-June we contacted them. They would definitely be out the following week. June, July, early August....they would be out soon. Even though we made repeated requests that they let us know if they were not coming on an agreed upon date, they never called. We had also repeatedly requested that one of us be at home when they did the work. In mid-August, with no notification, they began the work but did not finish it. We made repeated phone calls asking when they were going to finish it. In late September-early October, someone came out when no one was home, threw a bunch of pea gravel on top of the stones, spread it around a small area and left. Some of the stone could not even be seen because of the amount of gravel piled on top of them. We called repeatedly to get someone to come out and look at the mess. The patio looked worse than it had before they started. Someone came out and said that they had given the job to "a friend", agreed that the job was not done well and said they could sweep the pea gravel around more but that it would wash away in the first good rain. That was not what we had contracted for. They then said they could rake up all the gravel. We told them that was not acceptable as we would have areas that had gravel between the flagstones and other areas that had none. That, again, was not what we had contracted for. One day in the fall, again with no notification, we discovered that they had come out and swept the gravel around. We also began getting phone calls (the only times they called) demanding payment of the remaining 50%. We refused to pay until they performed as agreed in the contract. Finally, in December, they came out with no prior notification, redid what had not been done correctly and we were glad to pay the remaining 50% and be done with them.
