Description of Work: He's constantly hiring and firing employees, so there's no sense of continuity. He makes promises he doesn't keep, fails to return calls, and the quality of service is miserable. That is why we have not used them in quite a while and will not use them again unless management/ownership changes.

 + -1 moreThe walk thru went great, Paul O'Shaughnessey was punctual and very friendly. I had a warranty on my house, and had some consequential damages that needed to get fixed as a result of the initial repairs. The warranty company arranged the walk-thru. After about 3 weeks of no estimate from the warranty company, I followed up with the warranty company. They advised me they had tried to get in touch with Mr. O'Shaughnessey on numerous occassions without any response. A month and a half later (July 2, 2013) still no estimate from Mr. O'Shaughnessey. VERY frustrating, as this was the SECOND contractor that had done a walk thru on my house, and not responded. The work on my house was completed on January 11, 2013. Very disappointed that Mr. O'Shaughnessey did not respond to the warranty company.

First it was too cold to climb on a ladder outside (understandable), then it was too wet in the Spring, then we didn't hear anything for a long time. We called and were told they were trying to find someone to do the work. Then someone started the job and was only here sporadically. The latest is the owner is not at all happy with the work that has been done so far.They have found someone else to do the job and will start it all over this week. I guess we'll see.

 + -1 moreI needed gutters repaired and after receiving quotes from 4 different companies chose House Doctors. We set a date of 9/6/11 to begin repairs. After the initial agreement I never heard back from the owner. Due to weather delays I was contacted by Honesty who requested to push the start date back a week. This was totally acceptable for me. After that there were numerous call from Honesty with numerous excuses why they could not start on the agreed upon date: the owner was in the hospital, the owner was overseas visiting his grandchild, the weather. In October I received a call from Honesty stating that one of their workmen had taken my paperwork without permission, would try to contact me and that I was not to let him perform the work. She proceeded to tell me numerous details including that this workman was not completing the work she needed on her personal property. Needless to say, I have chosen another firm for my repairs. The contact was completely unprofessional and to be told their personal project was more important than mine was the point when I decided not to continue with this firm.

 + -1 moreSome accepts of their work was good but in some accepts I had some issues with them. They did some damage to my house in the process. I did not like the way they conducted themselves. I needed some furniture removed from the attic and in the process damaged the wall paper. They would not listen to me and behaved in a hot headed manner. Though I try to fix it up they had damaged the wall. The problem was that they had a different attitude. I will not use them in the future.
Description of Work: I used House Doctors Handyman Service to clean the attic and remove some of the furniture.

 + 0 moreEverything went very well. I initially thought that House Doctors forgot about me when I asked for a quote because I saw their business card in the door but had not received a quote. I had called and left a voice mail and the quote showed up in my email a few days later. After that, we scheduled the work to be done a few weeks later, due to all of the rain. They showed up when promised. There was a little confusion with the worker who was doing the work on what I wanted for the garage door. I had to explain a few times that I wanted all of the trim around the garage door replaced. They originally thought that I just wanted the brick molding replaced because that was obviously rotted but I pointed out some hidden rot that was covered up with paint. After that he understood and set off to get the materials. The first day they replaced the 3/4 of the garage door trim, the second day they finished the trim and brought the large ladders to complete the rest of the items. It would use House Doctors again because for things like this you can't get some normal contractors to take your job because it is to small of a job.
Description of Work: I hired House Doctors to perform the following items. 1) clean / inspect second story gutters 2) Replace broken roof shingle 3) re attach some flashing where ND story siding meets garage roof. 4) replace 2 car garage door trim with PVC fake wood trim.

 + 1 moreWork was very professional and well done. However, getting someone here for the estimate was a tedious and SLOW process. I would use them again because of the quality of the work, but the estimate process would have to be GREATLY improved.

 + 0 moreThey have done a lot of work for me in the past and their work is excellent. The actual craftsman work of the different guys that come out to do the stuff is very good. It isn't the workers but it is the guy who does the estimate and gathers all the papers for me who is not punctual. I wouldn't have dealt with him if the people he was sending me weren't so good.

 + -1 moreI FEEL LIKE HE SAW I WAS AN OLDER WOMAN AND HE COULD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ME. WHAT HE DIDN'T KNOW IS I HAD A FATHER, FATHER-IN-LAW AND A HUSBAND WHO WERE CARPENTERS. I WAS TAUGHT BY MY DAD, I KNOW WHAT CAN BE DONE AND HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE.............I WAS RIPPED OFF...........
Description of Work: He gave me a messy estimate sheet and said he was going to type it out so You could read it better. When the drawer was delivered the workman didn't have the seal for the garage door and it was after 5pm, so he said he would be back. He put the door in place and hurried off. When I checked the drawr and saw what had been done I called and complained to an anwsering machine and told them with such a sloppy job I didn't want them to touch my garage door. My calls aren't returned. I think they're screening the calls. My 12 year old grandson could have done a better job. The whole front of the drawer had left go. Three of the four sides were plywood and the front side was pressed wood. The drawer front was attached to it. I asked them to replace the press wood with plywood. the press wood had been attached to the rest of the drawer by 3 staples on each side The press wood had split out on both of those sides. He mentioned they might have to put blocks in the corners to reinforce the area. He said they might have to glue the blocks in place. Instead they filled the damaged area full of wood glue or Gorilla Glue. clamped it around the staples till it dried and called it finished. The one side they hadn't put enough glue in and it' s already separating again. They were going to charge me $120 to do it right. They maybe in time and materials had about $6 in materials and an hour in labor. Plus he said I would get it back in a week and it was over 2 weeks. When I called him he said it had been riding around in the back of the truck for almost a week.

 + -1 moreWhen Paul first came out to give us an estimate, he used swear language in front of me and my two year old son. I was shocked. He returned relatively quickly to deliver his estimate in person. Nice touch, but the quote was not priced by item and we had several separate items. So I called back and asked Christine in the office to have Paul break down the estimate and to remind him to give us an additional estimate on new windows. We have not heard back from Paul yet. We have already started work with another company. Another note, my husband was not impressed with the knowledge that Paul displayed on the handy work we needed to get done. His workers may be more knowledgeable, but he was not able to talk to them directly.
Description of Work: No services were performed, only estimates were provided with no follow-up call.

 + 1 moreOne worker was here and was very nice. He stained varnished and put up the trim and reset a door frame, so the door would close. He was here for two days, and even took the ledge home to finish varnishing it over night.
Description of Work: We had trim put around our entry ways that didn't have doors (3) and a ledge put on top of a half wall.
