08/28/2018 I contacted FAL Electric on or about 8-13-18 because they are listed as authorized Briggs and Stratton (B&G) home generator dealer. I told them that my generator had an engine miss and wanted someone to come out and look at it. I told them that I thought it needed a carburetor adjustment. I was very clear and repeated myself several times. I told them that the generator provided electricity fine when needed but the engine miss was concerning. They said they had someone in the area and could come out that day. Because I did not believe anyone had been out to the house that day, I called again on or about 8-15-18. I was told that they thought they had a key to unlock the generator but in fact, did not. So no service was provided on that day. I told that I would unlock the generator cabinet that evening. They said they would have someone out the next day. The service man arrived late the next day on 8-16-18. He ran the generator and said that the generator seemed to be working. No codes were seen. I asked about the engine miss and I was told he did not work on the engine, just the electrical side of the generator. He said he did not know who to call for B&G engine repair. I received an invoice for $130.00 for Generator check, trip, and labor. I called FAL on 8-28-18 and explained my concerns. I told him that given my clear communication that my engine had a miss and I thought it needed a carb adjustment, that they should have notified me at the time of the call that they didn't work on B&S engines. The FAL employee said he felt they needed to come out anyway and make sure the electrical side of the generator was working properly. I told him that since the problem was described as an engine problem, he should have informed me prior to coming out that they did not work on the B&S engine. and let me decide if I wanted them to check the system. I told the FAL employee, that I felt like this would be similar to taking my car in for engine service and being told that my transmission looks good and handing me a bill and stating they don't work on engines. And, they didn't respond to my BBB complaint...
