I have been using Dusty Brothers for about a decade for chimney cleaning and some repair work. Dusty Brothers has always done a professional job at a reasonable price. I do not use them for dryer vent cleaning. My vent is only about 4 feet long. I do it myself. You may want to consider the length of your vent before having them do it. That could save you a chuck of change.

We hired dusty bros to clean our dryer vent. The quoted price was $160, which seemed a little pricey, but we are probably about 30 mins away so it could have included a trip charge. We were told the price ahead of time so we knew the cost going into it. They discovered our dryer vent was not only clogged, but poorly routed and not up to code. So they cleaned and replaced our vent and brought it up to code for $350, which seemed very reasonable. After that, we did have some problems with significant humidity when we ran the dryer so they came back out to check it out. The venting had come off in the back so they fixed it up and now everything’s running great! They came back out to fix it free of charge. We would definitely recommend.

Love this company. Have used them for years. They installed and wood burning insert into my existing fireplace. It has been a life saver. Every year since I have used them for chimney cleanings. They are fast and professional.

Dryer vent cleaning took just a few minutes and was over $100. Chimney inspection and cleaning combined with the dryer vent cleaning was supposed to get me a $30 discount on the total cost of both, which brought it to $208. Per the technician, the chimney did not need cleaning, so I was not entitled to the $30 discount, so the price was...$208. Less work done, no discount, so the same price...$208. I feel like I was film flammed or bait and switched, whatever you want to call it, but it was a ripoff. Also, the tech recommended I leave the pilot light on in the fireplace because it costs next to nothing. Bad advice...when I came home from running errands an hour or two after they had left, the living room/main floor smelled strongly from the pilot light burning. So should he have left the flue open? And how much heat would escape up the chimney? The tech was a nice guy, but all in all a highly unsatisfactory experience. I should have complained when he ran the charge, but I feel cheated none the less.

Job was done well, as far as I can tell, just seems like high fee for less than 15 min work, but maybe that's typical for any vent cleaning. They were able to schedule quickly, called before arriving, and were professional.

The two men who came were kind and got the job done. The quote was exactly what I paid. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again and refer them on to others. I can't wait to use my like-new fireplace.

Fantastic. Matt called me and asked if they could come earlier than original scheduled due to them being ahead of schedule. The work was done very quickly and professionally. Who time took about 1/2 hour. They accessed the vent from the roof and when everything was cleaned out they used a leaf blower to clean the lint off the roog. Great service! I would high recommend Dusty Brothers to anyone for dryer vent cleaning.

The men arrived on time and were very pleasant. Immediately they started working and told me the back wall of the firebox needed to be replaced because of cracks which could be a fire hazard. It was obvious to see and I therefore agreed to have the work done. In the future I will call them to have any work or repair on my fireplace.

Showed up on time and did the work quickly. I also had a very short time frame in which I needed the work done and they were able to come and do it the following week. They also did a free estimate which I greatly appreciated, as another company was going to charge $100 just to come and look at it.

Quick and efficient. Got a discount because I used Angie's list to schedule the appointment. They previously rerouted the vent to the outside from the attic several years ago, which is why I used them again. Same guy came; same excellent service.

In November, we took possession of a home that has a wood-burning fireplace. On the advice of the home inspector, we arranged for a chimney sweep to inspect and clean the chimney before using the fireplace. Dusty Brothers had reasonable rates and during the peak season for chimney sweeps, they were available as soon as any other local provider. The technician finished the job quickly, left no dirt behind and provided valuable information and advice about the operation of the fireplace. The total fee would have been much less, had we not needed the heat shield to protect our home from cracks and pitting in the back wall of the fire box.

We bought and older home with two fireplaces in unknown condition. Dusty Brothers accommodated our schedules and arrived on time. They cleaned both fireplaces and chimneys taking special care of our carpets. They were informative, professional and offered us options and quotes considering one out of the two fireplaces needed repaired. Highly recommend them.

They immediately noticed my dryer vent was covered with the wrong cap. My dryer was not drying as the vent was clogged. I had Stanley Steemer out last year and they clean the vent but never mentioned or even looked at the vent cap. They replaced it with proper cover and cleaned vent.

Called to have a chimney sweep and possible maintenance done. During the sweep visit we discussed alternatives with Chuck and Chris. They were very knowledgeable and helpful when answering our questions. We did purchase a glass insert and are very happy with our decision. Yes, we would absolutely use again.

I paid in advance for paint patch/crown coat to be applied to my stuccoed chimney (which the company completed a year ago and had to cure before sealing) when the weather was appropriate for painting. Less than a week after paying for the service, the repairmen stopped by to complete the work. They were extremely courteous and efficient and the chimney looks great! Yet another job completed to excellent standards by Chuck and his assistant!

In spite of the fact that my dryer sits right next to an exterior wall, the dryer venting system in my utility room was originally set up to run through an interior wall where a metal chamber rested in the wall and small (3and quot; diameter) pipes ran to the back of the dryer and to the exterior wall. This arrangement was apparently quite common when my house was built (in the 1960's) and adds unnecessary distance to the ventilation path. The metal box in the wall also provides a great place for lint to drop and collect, creating a mess to clean and a real potential fire hazard. The venting outside was very close to the ground, which presented additional challenges in the winter and necessitated constantly shoveling snow away from the venting area. The extremely helpful guys from Dusty Brothers explained the arrangement while they were performing chimney maintenance last year and advised me how to properly clean the vents to prevent lint build up, but as it was a very dirty, difficult task that was constantly causing my dryer issues, I asked them to provide me with a quote to have the vents re-routed. The quote was $200, surprisingly low considering that they would have to remove the old vent and patch the wall as well as drill through masonry to the exterior wall to re-route the vents. When I arranged the re-routing work (a year after the quote), they honored the original price. The guys explained the process of re-routing, completed their work, and cleaned up all of the masonry dust so my utility room was ready to go again in just under two hours. We also scheduled future service to be completed at the convenience/weather permitting of the service team. Last year, we had our chimney stuccoed because of deterioration of the brick and mortar. Since the stucco has cured, we scheduled sealing with crown coat and patch paint, which will provide a 15 year warranty on the stucco work. Since we are loyal repeat customers, the company was even willing to provide discounted service. My fiance and I have been extremely satisfied with the quality of work, professionalism, and great service that we receive from Dusty Brothers and highly recommend the company.

Everything went very well. It turned out that we have a quite short distance between the vent outlet and the dryer, so the work was done quickly. The gentleman who provided the service was friendly; he arrived on time. We'd use them agaiin. We only gave them a C for professionalism because the representative was a pretty heavy smoker and we just don't appreciate the smell in our home.

The first thing the representative stated was that our chimney flue cap was not correct. As far as I could tell, his and quot;inspectionand quot; was from our driveway, the chimney is not easily accessible from the driveway and there was lots of snow at that time. Once inside, the most anyone did to check our fireplace/gas log set was look at the model number and tell us that the gas log set was not correct for our fireplace insert. He had to double-check the the layout of the system with the Installation and Operation Instruction manual we provided as he had never seen this exact model before. He deemed it unusable at that time and quot;because log lighter is the burn pan.and quot; He then gave me literature on the line of gas log-sets they work with that would be more efficient and appropriate for our insert ($1150 for the new gas log set and $250 for a new cap) because there is apparently no way to salvage/repair/find a solution for this one. Everything I was told may be accurate but the way it was broached was off-putting. Their replacement brand is the same brand that we have now just FYI. I feel I paid $69 for their time to come out and soft sell me although it was documented as a and quot;level oneand quot; inspection. We will be seeking a second opinion.

They discovered a few problems and were able to fix them for me right away. I do recommend this company.

We had a few issues with our chimney. I requested them to cap off an unused flue (for a 2nd fireplace that was never installed). We also would get rain into the fireplace and down the unused flue when it rained and was windy. Also had birds getting into the fireplace approx. once per year. The chimney is original from when the house was built in 1987 and due to the issues mentioned I expected an inspection would find problems with the chimney. |I called Dusty Brothers and requested a chimney cleaning and inspection and used a coupon that was on their website. Two people came to inspect and clean the chimney, which took approx. 30 minutes. We typically only use the fireplace a few times per year, so I suspect it was not very dirty. The inspection identified issues with the top of the chimney allowing water to get on top of the firebox. They recommended replacing the top plate and cap of the chimney and sealing the top of the unused flue. They waited approx. 15 minutes for me to drive home from work to explain in person what was wrong and how the recommended repair would fix all my issues. I did not shop around for other prices as I wanted it fixed and did not want to wait for the repairs, so I rated them as N/A for price. They installed a new custom aluminum cover plate with all new top parts of the chimney. I am confident that the issues have been properly fixed and it came with a lifetime warranty. The inspection was performed on Monday: 11/25 and they ordered the parts and came back to install them on Saturday: 11/30. I think that was great turn around time with the Thanksgiving holiday. |I selected Dusty Brothers due to other reviews on Angie's List and I am very happy with my first use of a vendor from Angie's List. |
