Hello, I am Emilys sister Elizabeth. DMI painted the interior of our home so we could freshen up to sell. We have a 2500 Sq foot home and it took David and his crew 2 days to prep and paint. We had a mixup with the paint, but that was on us as we bought Behr. Anyway, great service and if we need something else, we will call them

My house was ok. Crew was a month late starting my job and only showed up intermittently, but we had a very rainy summer and they were behind, not a huge deal. Very good work when it was completed. I referred him to me neighbor/client. I am a real estate agent. David was not very responsive to that customer, and after the work was done and she accidentally overpaid him, he did not make proper restitution back to her. He paid her back a small amt and then started some work at her new residence but left town with 90% of that work unfinished and no repayment of the balance of what he owed her. I hesitated for a long time to post this review, hoping he would make things right with her, but now I've learned that he left town -- moved away -- and she is stuck with no way to collect. Now she has to pay yet another provider to finish the work he started. Again, I never like to give contractors bed reviews, but this is an unacceptable situation.
Description of Work: Painted my exterior trim and my client's entire exterior.

Response from DMI Painting & Contracting
Our Company sincerely apologizes for the outcome of this situation. Our company did however repay a portion of the $2000.00 back in Cash and the remaining portion back in work. We charged $400.00 per room in this situation and only owed this client $1500.00. Therefore we painted 4 rooms which is $1600.00 in services rendered. We contracted to paint a few other rooms, but did not paint those rooms, as our schedule was filling up, and we didnt have the manpower to finish. So, in theory our debt was repaid to the client, and we feel we did no wrongdoing.

The work began fine in early June. Two Workers were doing a good job. Then the last two days 3 or 4 additional workers started painting and areas were missed. I provided a detailed list of 6 areas needing attention. David said he would take care of it. After several requests - nothing was done. Two months later I requested arbitration. He said he would fix the areas by Oct 5th. Nothing was done. The front door frame was not painted. over spray in 5 areas. One side of the chimney was not painted and still has the old paint color showing. It's too bad, they worked hard but the lack of communication and follow through is lacking and is frustrating to deal with. The work needed oversight and final inspection, but it didn't happen. One worker said he was afraid of heights, so I question whether he was a temp worker, not a painter, brought in at the end. I have the email exchanges listing the many requests to complete the work. I have pictures of the problem areas which can be shared or posted. I recommend using a larger company with project managers who inspect and ensure the work is complete.

Hello, First off, let me just say David and his team are exceptional. From initial consultation to completion, David was very attentive. We had DMI paint a commercial building we own in Kansas City. This included all prep work which was done very well, and painting. The foreman assigned to our job kept us in the loop on how everything was going as well as provided us with a schedule at the beginning of the job. The painters showed up when they said they would. We did have a hiccup with the paint color, and the weather. Other than that everything went by as expected. We will continue to use DMI for all of our painting and minor remodel needs.

Started on time, had some rain delays, but no one can paint in the wet. David, the owner, communicated with us regularly about said delays, and his crew always showed up when he said they would. His workers were at all times polite, accommodating and professional. Cleanup afterword was good, and some small things that needed attention were handled immediately. Our house looks great, which is the point, isn't it? So refreshing to have contractors do what they are hired to do and do it on time, on budget and correctly.
Description of Work: Painted exterior of our house, including scraping and dressing some badly damaged and peeling siding. Also caulked and painted windows, shutters, contrast trim.

I?m an owner?s representative for an older 3-story apartment building. Part of my job is to arrange repairs and updates for the building, and to ensure those projects are completed correctly and in a timely manner. I initially spoke with David Meyer in April about painting the building. He was professional at that point, and certainly knew how to talk a good show. We paid one-half of the agreed pricing as a deposit, and painting was to begin May 12. 1. The trouble began as soon as we paid the deposit. At first he refused to take a check, so the owner paid him through PayPal with a credit card. We had to pay in 3 smaller increments because of the size of the payment. That wasn?t a problem until the owner began seeing odd charges from Mr. Meyer?s company, Rockstar Companies, Ltd. Another $2500 payment was made even though Mr. Meyer assured us that he had only run the card through once. Because of these problems I insisted on making the last payment by check. Despite that, there was yet a third charge of $2500, which Mr. Meyer said was a mistake and credited back to the owner. He claims to know nothing about the $10,000 payment that alerted the card company to call the owner, who promptly closed the card down. 2. It rained the day they were to start. We expected to see Mr. Meyer and his workers the next day, but it was several days before we saw anybody. So they got started about a week late, though the weather was great several days that week. 3. When they did start, he sent subcontractors who really didn?t know what they were doing. I had to stop the work when I realized they were priming everything without making repairs or scraping properly, before they ruined the building. 4. Subcontractors: They used hand tools to scrape, no sanders or other usual smoothing tools that should be used for a project of this scale, and didn?t spend much time on it. They broke a window on one of the decks, which was not taken care of until we did it ourselves. They painted primer directly over doorknobs and other hardware, rather than removing it first or taping it off. No repairs were made as agreed. They primed directly over rotted and broken wood. 5. Tenants began complaining that the workers were getting paint on the decks and the door screens, which I confirmed. 6. When I discovered this, I contacted Mr. Meyer and asked to meet with him before any more work was done on the building. He was reluctant to do this, insisting his people (subcontractors) were telling him the issues were already present and they had done nothing. I had to send him photos of the sloppy and unfinished work, and the broken window. He could not meet for several days, so that was another week lost. 7. Before this meeting, Mr. Meyer sent an email to the owner complaining, denying everything, talking badly about our maintenance person (whom I had asked to monitor progress while I was gone), stating his subcontractors have painting experience, and advising that if we fired him from the job he would demand that we sign what I call a ?no-bad-review? agreement (Already checked with my lawyer. When she finally quit laughing she advised it would never hold up in court). That was my first hint as to why I had not found any bad reviews on this company (hadn?t checked Angie?s list). 8. When we met to discuss the issue he was very apologetic. He and the foremen he brought with him agreed that this did not meet expectations for quality work. It was agreed he would send his crew, not subcontractors to do the job right. We lost another week because his people could not start until the following Monday. 9. Apparently Mr. Meyer?s crew consists of only 3 people. They arrived as scheduled and appeared to be doing a good job, but they only worked 1 ½ days that week (it only rained once). When I called him at the end of the week, he said they only work Monday thru Thursday. They arrived the following Monday for ½ a day, before Mr. Meyer showed up and apparently told them to leave as they did not come back from lunch. 10. June 16: At that point the project was already 2 weeks behind the finishing date, and I knew if he continued pulling his 3-man crew off to do apparently more important work, I knew we would never be done. I asked him not to come back. Since the contract was not fulfilled (3 week job worked maybe 5 days, (2 week delay stretching further, shoddy work) I asked for a partial refund on our deposit, or the materials that deposit bought. I also asked for our building key. We are considering a lawsuit for the deposit. I finally got the key back after advising him I would bill him for the cost of changing the locks and paying for new licensed keys for those locks. 11. Late last week, I discovered several buckets of Glidden paint that was brought in by him or his workers. I told him directly that I wanted Sherwin Williams used, giving him the Sherwin Williams color numbers. He advised he has an account with Sherman Williams and stated that it would be no problem. e He Had I let him continue, I?m certain we would be repainting within the year.

We hired DMI in September of last year and they were amazing. We hired them again to repaint our exterior and again amazing, amazing job. The weather interfered a little, but they got the job done. We would recommend DMI to anyone who needs a fast, on time proficient painter.

The first meeting with David went great. He showed up on time gave me a great bid and we went from there. I hired him and we set a start date. I had to change the start date and he was flexible with me. When the job began that is when things went wrong. First, they estimated the job would take between 4 and 5 days, it took 7. Secondly I had to point out all the imperfections in the ceilings they even missed an 18" long crack in the hallway. Thirdly, the employee named Andrew kept arguing with me everytime I made a request. I informed David about this and he just said "yeah." David only showed up 3 times for 5 minutes each time to ensure the project was going ok. HE did not even show up to assure the job was completed. By that time I was so sick of the drama I just wanted them out of my house so I paid one of the employees and they left. They left my house a wreck! I told them not to worry about the kitchen and living room floors because I am having them refinished. I understand that this type of job can not be completed without making a mess but leaving bags of trash in my home after the job is complete is not acceptable. The dumpster is right out the front door. They didn't clean up in the other rooms and left bits of drywall all over the place and to top it off they used my personal vacuum cleaner for something with out asking. When I went to use it, it was full of drywall pieces and the filter is ruined which I will now have to replace (guess they have never heard of a shop vac??) I will NEVER hire this company again nor will I ever recommend them to anyone. The end result the ceilings look so-so and I will have to take out their trash and clean up their mess everywhere not just in the kitchen and living room. The photos speak for themselves.

Hello, My name is David Meyer and I do not have to defend myself, however, I will say that I have every record of correspondence with , and with what she is writing here is a complete fabrication, and anyone who wants to hire our company, can have complete access to these records of correspondence. Our company has never received a bad review, until working with this client. As my employees were doing their jobs, came right in behind them and started painting her walls, and we were not even finished with the ceilings. She was constantly in the way, as well as used our tools and even rented a drill from one of my employees for $40.00, Andrew only argued with , when she wanted our crew to do things not discussed or even agreed upon in the scope of work. also began tearing up and pulling off wallpaper and other things making a huge complete mess, so defining what was ours and what was hers was next to impossible. Our company has 9 shop vacs and 2 were on the job. So with this review from , I nor my company pay any regard to this outlandish and idiotic review. Our results re in our work, and our work speaks for its self. I mean honestly, we've been around for nearly 10 years and have only gotten one fabricated review. Decide for yourself, if you want to follow this review. Thanks David Meyer DMI Painting Group 913-638-3123

David made sure his guys were there on time and they quoted the job to take a week, but it only ended up being 4 days at most. The worked from like 9am to 8p so they were really busting things out. They also kept my husband and I up to date worth details and nothing was left in the dark. We are going to do the exterior of our house this summer and David is already on the line.
Description of Work: DMI came in an painted our new finished basement and also did all of the trim work as well as installed the cabinets to our bar.
