Decks and Hardwood

James Steele did a great job not only ensuring our deck was completed timely, but answered all of our questions before, during and after the build. He guided us to get what WE wanted, not what someone else was making a profit on. One in particular product we used we were not overly pleased with and James went above and beyond to find us a product we liked better (we were the ones who picked the first one as well). So he made sure we saw other options we liked better- totally replaced it and made it the way we wanted with zero complaints. James also came in well below any other competitor with building our deck with significant price savings for us.....Already looking at him to put in our hard wood floors in near future as well!

We were very pleased with this companies service. They gave us exactly what we wanted at a very reasonable price. Other companies had quoted us much higher and we were going to have to wait much longer to get the project completed. James kept us informed on the progress and timeline of the project. He worked very hard to get everything done within a reasonable amount of time and we are very pleased with the results. We will be recommending him to friends and neighbors.

I would give 0 stars if I could. We hired James based on some decent online reviews. He started work nearly a month after he said he would, only worked about 4 hours a day due to a full time job he hadn't told us about, took on other jobs and neglected ours and called off many times for various other reasons. When we had the framing inspection it failed badly and we finally fired him. After consulting another builder and having an engineer come by we had to completely tear down everything James had built. We were also told a lot of the lumber he'd ordered and we'd paid for was not even suitable for the project. After having literally nothing done that had been contracted for Mr Steele refused to return our deposit. If you need work done look elsewhere for an honest person with a good work ethic and the ability to do a good job. This company isn't it.

James Steele's years of experience with historic homes and woodcraft added real value to our floor refinishing project. He custom mixed stain to match our wood trim and handled minor repairs on our vintage floors with ease. Prompt, knowledgable, detailed, hard working and fair, James is a smart pick. Well done.

I hired James gave him a $5k deposit he walked off the job after removing decks Quote to remove decks was 1600.00 am now seeing him to get a refund!!!!!!!!!! It took over a month to get someone else to do the job was very pleased with his work.

Very nice, but went with another company

They were very competent and did a very good job. It was Alan Fleek and his crew. I am very happy with what they did. They redid the rot on our sunroom and it was done very well.

They never called so I cannot tell anyone if the craftsmanship is good or not.

James was on time and kept in close touch with me on the progress of the work with pictures, e-mail and phone calls as I was 700 miles away while the floors were being done. We ask him to return to light sand and apply an additional coat of finish, which he did willingly and without additional charge. The color match with the existing woodwork is excellent. Keeping in mind that the floors are 80+ years old they look and feel nice. Would recommend his service.

James did a timely job, The deck turned out better than I expected with where it is located and with the pergola added to it.

I am not doing the project at this time. I cannot rate this company because I do not know them. As far as I know they are fine and reputable

We hired James Steele to put new caps and balls on our wood fence posts and to replace the rotting wood exterior around our post light. He called promptly, always made sure we knew how we fit into his work schedule, and came exactly when he said he would. He finished the project in a timely way, to our satisfaction, and for a fair price. We would definitely call him again if we had another project needing his skills. He is easy to work with and entirely professional.

He is good on the main carpentry work, he needs to work on the details & finishing.

Talks a good game but quality of work was very poor. Stated he would reimburse us, but stated he his fixing his car and cant. The deck was stained with a brush and was very messy. Stain was all over the house. Stated he bought 6 rolls of plastic and a paint brush for supplies, yet I paid him $80. Very poor work and no value for the money. Very spotty work. We had to have the deck completely stripped and re-stained because of his poor work. It was a Brazilian hardwood deck and he destroyed it. Stated he needed to take extra care with the Brazilian wood, so he charged more.
