BUYER BEWARE! I can not even start to discuss how important it is for people to be careful working with this company. I had new carpet placed in a large portion of my home. I scheduled it over 4 weeks ahead of time (paying cash upfront for the entire job), as we were on a schedule for selling and moving. The day of service, they cancelled my installation with no real explanation or heads up. They then took over 3 days to even get my carpet installed. They even “forgot” to complete an entire section of the carpet as they “couldn’t find the carpet” for that area. While calling to get an explanation and timeframe for installation, the staff were INCREDIBLY rude and unprofessional. The installation was a nightmare. After paying an extra $50 per room for my furniture to be moved, much of the furniture and items were never put back. My personal items were randomly tossed throughout my house and damage was noted on walls, window sills, window treatments, and doors. The installation team also broke one of my beds. I felt victimized in my own home. After attempting to discuss this with personnel in the store, instead of offering a partial refund or even apology, the only resolution was to give me $200 in store credit. I politely declined as I have no intention of ever working with this company in the future. There are a variety of carpet stores with professional installers within this city. I HIGHLY recommend looking elsewhere the prevent this type of headache within your life.

*** Take your business elsewhere where they will respect your time and concerns. Only positive I will give is flooring install looks nice. If i could leave a negative numerical review I would. Number one complaint if you don't want to read all this is, *** employees laughed about situation***, $400 error in calculation of job, no manager is available for days, poor communication, overbook installs and except you to be ok with being put off for days when it was scheduled the week prior. Started off ok. Then got a phone call a few days later saying they made a mistake on install quote and it was going to cost me an additional $400. I had to order the flooring and needed it, so obviously they aren't going to install it you don't pay. I agreed but was annoyed. That's a large mistake to make. At the end of all this, it came down to got laughed in the face by two employees when I went into the store after the install for making a statement. I was in shock and already stressed about the whole situation. I told them when a customer is upset last thing you do is laugh. They were quick to apologize. That was low and a disrespectful. Why any business would allow their employees to treat a customer like that is shocking?! I asked for a manager for 4 days to speak to. Never could. Somehow this is the only business I've ever ran into that doesn't have a manager available to speak with ever and the employees don't even know when their own manager will be in the store. Scheduled flooring to be put in a week prior. They knew the night before their other job wouldn't be finished. They told me this. They then wasted my time waiting around for them the day of install to call and cancel. Rescheduled for next day. Wait around all day again. 530pm comes, still no installers. They ran out of time and had to reschedule for the next day. By the 3rd day, I finally had the flooring installed. Install guys were very nice, but they admitted that this company doesn't inform customers well of waiting times and just book installs, where other places will be honest and tell you how far they are booked out. ***Even one of the employees I spoke with on the phone said they were around others at the moment and couldn't speak aloud, but agreed it is a problem.*** Baseboards, some were broke and no caulking was done once job was finished. Was explained this is common practice to not caulk. Funny, then why did the builders do it and why did a contractor I hired years ago to do a build do it? Could have better finishing standards in my opinion. Will be worth your time to pay a little more money for you sanity...unless you have unlimited time to wait around on people..as in days.. and don't mind paying extra for large miscalculations. I will never be back or recommend them to anyone.

Excellent. They saved me $1500 over another local carpet store. They were able to install in my limited time frame. Carpet installation was great and went very smoothly.

The salesman insisted that installers would splice the new flooring to the old flooring so that there would not be a seam. The installers said splicing was impossible. The actual installation of the laminate floor was ok, except for hand prints and marks on the walls every where. The first day they were 2 hours late. The second day they were 4 hours late. The third day they were several hours late. The installers blamed "overbooking" for being tardy and stayed late in the evening making up for time lost in the morning. Four months after the installation, the trim strips at the floor splices are starting to come loose.
Description of Work: Remove carpeting from the living room and bedrooms and replace it with the same make and model of laminate floor already in the kitchen.

Their prices are very good. I've used them for carpeting before, too. Their quality and price keep me going back to them.
Description of Work: They did two rooms of laminate and two rooms of vinyl tiles.

The entire experience was fairly good, start to finish. The first floor we selected was out of stock, which was a bit frustrating as we really liked the flooring, so I tried to find the flooring elsewhere and then just have the flooring installed by the company, but the attitude of City Carpet changed immediately when we said we wanted to purchase the flooring elsewhere. I was miffed because City Carpet was the one displaying the flooring we liked and then they couldn't get the flooring and I found it elsewhere but their attitude about installing it was really lousy. I called a few other installers and they also had lukewarm feelings about installing something that you didn't purchase at their establishment (they didn't even return my call in some cases). Eventually I got the feeling that if I wanted a good, responsive, guaranteed install, that I would have to purchase the flooring from the same company that did the install. So, we started over and found some flooring that WAS available for purchase and went with that flooring. It was a "luxury vinyl tile" and I was unfamiliar with it but we ended up liking it very well. The installer did an excellent job although he was a little "rough" around the edges (kinda foul mouthed). I would use City Carpet again, and this time I would have a little better idea of what to expect from the whole process.
Description of Work: We purchased flooring and the company also installed the flooring.

We bought vinyl flooring from City Carpet Outlet. The overall experice was good and the price was fantastic. My only knock would be the lack of staffing on the sales floor and some miscommunication between the sale and install team. However, they gave us a great price, quaility product and their installer was very hard working.

We moved and had carpet put in the living room, bonus room 2 bedrooms and the stairs. The carpet has been down about 6 months and already it looks worn in spots, the carpet on the stairs look awful and we have a BIG seam sticking up in the middle of the floor. When we purchased the cart they said it had a 20 yr warrenty and if anything was wrong they would come right out and fix it. We went to the store to let them know our problem with the carpet they wrote it up and said someone would be out that week to look at it. On Monday they called and said they would be there that day. NO SHOW, NO CALL, NOTHING! We waited the whole week still nothing. We called and again was told someone would be out. Another week no one, no call. We are still waiting!!! Its been over a month now. Then the day they came to install the carpet the installer's parked in our driveway by my car and their van door slammed into my car leaving a large scratch. The installer apologized and gave us all his ins info. We call the ins co. and they said that they would take care of it as soon as there client called. We have called his ins co 3x's and we get the same story. When he calls and take responsibility we can fix it until then there is nothing they can do. Thank god we took pictures!! Now the best part of how professional they are, the day we went to report everything the manager was screaming on the phone at the installers "That's just great keep costing me money", then he call whoever is in charge of the installers and told him "they just need to do it and quit complaining" Not very professional in my opinion. They are happy to sell you the carpet but when it come to backing up what they sell they are shallow. So here we are stuck with our living room carpet looking like crap and when we have people over the first this they say is "What is wrong with your carpet?" Where did you buy it? i will never buy from them if that is the kind of job they do. So please unless you want crappy carpet, installation and a place that does not stand be hind there product they sell do not go to CITY CARPET behind Meijer's off Lima Rd.
Description of Work: We bought carpet from City Carpet in Fort Wayne. They installed the carpet and left.
