Neighbor and I agreed to trim / remove trees on our adjoining properties.  Best bid came through a personal contact the neighbor had.  I was reluctant to use them at first because the owner looked so young, and because I could not find them on either BBB or Angie's List.    Deal was that they would first do the neighbor's more extensive work, and if I like that, I would ask them to do mine too.
They showed up right on time and immediately went to work.  This involved extensive trimming of three trees, some overhanging buildings, plus the removal of a gigantic Blue Spruce.  I was impressed by their emphasis on safety, the quality of their equipment, their attention to detail such as keeping the street clear and removing debris as they went, but most of all their skill in the trees.  Observing this for four hours, and seeing how well this was going, I asked them to quote my requirements. They ended up trimming 4 trees, two of which overhung critical structures.  The costs was less than 1/4 of that quoted by a competitor that we and used (and liked) before.
All in all, you can't beat these guys for both quality and cost.
