3 years later my roof still leaks and my ceiling has not been repaired. I would absolutely not recommend this company. The owner does not stand by his company's work and will not make things right.

They did a great job. While they were here, they also replaced a floodlight in a socket at the eave of a two-story house.

Project was completed on-time. Barry, the owner, stopped by often to check on workmanship and talk to us about how things were going. Cleaned up the worksite at the end of each day and came back when the work was done with a big magnet to catch any lost nails.

I called. They called back with an estimate and ready to schedule. I was in a hurry do to selling the house the work was done on. They were able to accommodate my time frame. The worker came out on time and was very knowledgeable. He identified the issues and quickly resolved all. Will use again when needed!!

My 25 year roof was approaching the end of its life and I had experienced a couple of minor leaks which were patched the last couple of years. It needed to be replaced. In addition I have always had issues with the front down spout which was not adequate to carry away the volume of water being shed from a very large roof. I also asked for a gutter guard to be installed at the rear of the house since the rear gutter was so high that I could not clean it. I had three other quotes from other roofing contractors. All were quoting the same equivalent shingles. And all quotes were within 1% to 2% of each other. Except that the other three did not inclued the gutter guard or down spout replacement. The others said that I needed to go to a gutter specialist for that part of the job. A&B handled the whole job. Also, one contractor stated that he would put twelve people on the job and have it finished in one day. I didn't feel comfortable with a quick job that may have sacrificed quality. A&B was the only contractor to specifically quote 5 nails per shingle. Dave, one of the owners, would stop by about twice a day to make sure everything was going smoothly and ask if I had any questions. The foreman and two to three installers were present on-site everyday. They cleaned up every evening and used a dump truck to carry away the debris. (No dumpster in the driveway) When they left they used a magnetic pick-up to make sure there were no nails left in the lawn. Additionally, about four weeks after the job was completed we had a large thunder storm with high winds. I noticed that the one end of the ridge vent was pulled up so I called A&B. I called at 8:00AM and Dave returned my call at 10:00AM. He stated that he would call his foreman to schedule him to look at the problem. At 1:00PM that day A&B came to the house and fixed the issue and inspected the entire ridge vent to make sure everything was good.

The crew was very conscientious and respectful of my property and me. They worked nonstop in freezing weather and got the roof on before the snow. I am very pleased with the job! The roof is beautiful!

Overall, the project went well. The employees were very reliable and performed their work in a professional manner. I only experienced two problems during this project. The roof shingles installed were not the ones I requested by name (Driftwood). I later was told that all shingle companies used this name but the colors would vary. The brand used by A&B Construction was Owens Corning and the brand that I wanted was IKO. Both companies have shingles named, Driftwood. Secondly, When the dumpster was delivered to our home, it was dropped on the driveway (i was home and heard the noise). The fall caused cracks in our drive. The Company, Earth First, that delivered the dumpster, came and sealed the original crack. Subsequently, another crack developed. I have not been able to get this repaired.

I had no leaks prior to having the house re-roofed. The shingles were curling up from age and I had more than one roofing company advise that I needed a new roof. A&B had re-roofed our friends house and did a good job. Based on their experience we went with A&B for our new roof. Within the first 2 years of having the roof replaced we developed a leak in our family room. I called A&B numerous times over the past years, they always respond fairly quickly but I still have the leak in my family room. It only occurs when the rain comes from a certain direction. I spoke to an acquaintance who has a building inspection background about this issue, he is fairly certain the knee wall above the family room was not flashed properly when the new roof was installed. A&B (Barry and some of his employees) have tried to seal the area of the leak, but are apparently not willing to do the job properly as it should have been done years ago. The acquaintance with building inspector experience informed me that the siding should have been removed from the knee wall above the family room and a flashing barrier should have been installed on the knee wall. I'm sure this method was not used when the roof was installed by A&B. I am currently trying to find a roofing contractor to make the repairs to the roof and to the drywall on my family room ceiling. Barry seems like a nice guy, but he dropped the ball as far as I'm concerned.

I waited almost 6 weeks and 3 phone calls. They Said we will be in Decatur in 2 weeks to do a job then we would prefer to do the estimate and the job at that time if the price is agreeable.|Two weeks came and went. i waited 2 more . called again and again. They had forgotten me but would be there in 3hree weeks to do my appraisal. They finally came and checked out my gutters and a leaking rubber gasket on my garage roof. would be back in 2 weeks to fix these items and would send my appraisal. a month later I received my appraisal for an entire roof and nothing for the gutter. They never stopped by. I finally called and They had forgotten to stop. I suggested they forget it and I would look elsewhere. I still have not gotten the roof leak or the gutter fixed.

Several men came out with ladders and equipment necessary and thoroughly cleaned the gutters and the downspouts. They made sure the downspouts were open. They worked quickly, cleaned up well, and were very professional. They were willing to get on the roof to reach difficult areas, and they even repaired one small section where a screw was obstructing a downspout. Will hire them again in the future.

This job took 4 days in very hot weather. They got the necessary permits and gave me proof of Insurance. It was windy one day and blew shingle wrappers around the neighborhood and they quickly picked them all up. After insulation, I walked around with Dave and we found several areas on the roof returns that were not properly attached and did not lay flat. He sent another employee out to repair all these questionable areas, came back out and reinspected to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction. I did not have to make final payment until I was satisfied.

Owner came out to price job. Was very friendly & professional. Workers were friendly as well and cared that the job was done correctly. Once the roof was off to be replaced, there were a few issues that were found and we were quoted a reasonable amount to take care of the problems that were discovered. The owner was present in & out during the job to make sure everything was explained and that the job was done correctly. We also found a problem with mice in the attic. I feel that the workers went over & above to make sure everything was taken care of and sealed up so no future problems with mice.

When I call a business or send email correspondence to get a quote, I expect timely follow up. I can only assume this Contractor was not interested in my business and I received no response after 4 attempts. Given the of responsiveness to just get a quote, I would not have any interest in engaging this company for any work.

Have not noticed water marks on my ceiling during recent rains - filling the holes apparently worked. Workers had to return a second day to fix the siding because they didn't have a tall enough ladder to reach the loose siding during their original visit. Slightly disappointed in the siding fix. The loose siding was nailed down instead of being removed, the track fixed and the piece of siding re-installed. The nailed down area is already coming loose . Cost seemed a little high for the type of work done and amount of time on site. Workers on both visits were very congenial

From start to finish Randy (one of the owners) was wonderful. He took time with me and went over pricing and options before and took time after to answer questions we had. He always took my calls and made a real effort to work with every request. The crew cleaned up messes daily, worked hard and were nice guys. As far as replacing a roof goes, it was the most pleasant experience I have ever had. The price was the lowest quote we got and honestly, even if it were not, I would have still chosen Randy and A&B just simply based on the fact that he put no pressure on us at all and just was a real pleasure to work with. A roof isn't the most exciting thing you can spend $7K plus on, but if you want quality, professional, good people to do the work and treat you like a person/friend, not a "customer" or the next job, go with A&B. I will use them for any and all contracting work in the future. The only minor problem was a shingle fell and damaged a small part of our bay window molding, which they have have temporarily fixed and will replace the part for me once it comes in. The crew was more upset than I was, but there were no issues with them fixing it, never a question that they would not. Also - $100 off from Angie's List! :) Every dollar counts! ****UPDATE - it is now October 5 and my window frame has yet to be repaired! I've contacted them several times and gotten a laundry list of excuses and this week when they finally came out, they didn't order the right frame to repair. Happy with the roof, unhappy with the follow up and excuses I've gotten since. We gave a great review and even gave A&B a referral, I doubt that I'd hire these guys again, for fear of if something major went wrong. Dropping from an A to a B.

The people at A & B Construction quickly gave me an estimate, including several construction alternatives for our problem. They had our project going fairly quickly, as weather permitted. The roofing crew was fast and professional. It looks like they did a great job.

A & B Construction called and came out quickly. He actually climbed on the roof during the estimate. They were good. They were very nice, explained things, and the girl at the office called and was helpful.

Barry, the owner, is a pleasure to work with. He is completely honest and upfront with you. His calculations to determine necessary materials are spot on. This is very important when turning in a claim to insurance company. The workers performed a fantastic job, including a thorough clean up. I would highly recommend A&B to anyone who is in need of a new rook.

It went very well. They were here every day. The work was of good quality. The only noticable difference is the spacing between some wood. There are three sliding doors. The last door had some spacing between the floor planks but it's not significant, only from an asthetic point of view. In some respects some spacing is good to allow for water drain. Then there was a bolt left out on one of the supporting structures for the decorative colonial fencing. I don't think it will have a material affect. It just depends how picky you are. Overall, they did a good job.

We had solicited multiple quotes. A & B was very price competitive, and the quote was thorough and detailed, including materials alternatives and contingencies prices for hidden problems that might typically be encountered. Promises were kept. Nothing had to be re-negotiated and there were no 11th-hour surprises. Barry called before we felt a need to call him. We had asked for facia to be replaced weeks ahead of when the rest of the work could be started. That was not only done, but at a price substantially below a quote from the original installer. He asked if it would be alright to work through the weekend. The crew was courteous and informative. For example, the satelite disd had to be removed and re-installed. They explained the potential re-alignment problem and what to do if reception became a problem. They arrived completely prepared, including their own generator. When they were done, one would never have known they had been there. Overall, it was by far the best contracting experience we have ever had.

My house had been experiencing a leaky roof for years. The leaks were small; water marks appeared on the interior ceiling and walls after periods of prolonged rain. After months of trying to find a roofer who could figure out the problem, or would even come out and look at the house, I joined Angie's List and found A & B Construction. I called them and they came out the next business day. They quickly figured out the problem was with the flashing. They had the materials on the truck to do the repair and the work was completed in about and hour. They found some other small problems and fixed these as well. I would definitely use them again.

They were professional and gave me options. Their quote was realistic, but high, so I chose another contractor.

They came out quickly, determined the problem, and efficiently fixed it while charging a very reasonable amount.

A&B is very professional and I am very satisfied with the service to-date.
