Heck's Metal Work

Heck's did a great job with our fence. We were happy with the selection of choices and with how our new fence looked when it was put up. They worked with us to pick the best style for our yard and where to place our gates. They were punctual, professional and friendly. We would definitely recommend them to friends and family.

On the install date, he told me he had forgotten the weatherstrip and would return on another day. He installed the 3 locks. As he prepared to leave, I noticed he had not replaced the strikeplates that come with the deadbolt lock sets. I asked for those to be installed and he said he would do when he did the weatherstripping. I paid him when he left. The second install day I was at work when he came. When I got home, I saw he had not made the mortise cut into the metal doorjam for the strikeplates on 2 doors. He just screwed them on. Since the previous strikeplate mortises were smaller, the new strikeplates were wavy and bowed, not neatly inset as they should have been. And 2 screws on the outside faceplate on one deadbolt were stripped and loose. I called him and left a message that he needed to come repair these problems. Last Friday he replaced the screws on the outside faceplate. He scratched the brass plate while he did it. I can not depend on this firm to do work in a professional manner, so I will take care of the strikeplates myself. If you have work done by this firm, I suggest you inspect their work very carefully to be sure it meets your quality expectations.
