+ -1 moreIt went great. The above tells the story. Doug was never condescending about our lack of computer skills. He educated us as we went along. We would recommend him without reservation.
Description of Work: We had two computers that were having an assortment of problems. After checking on Angie's List, I emailed Doug White with a list of what was not working with each of them. Both were having additional problems with internet connections. I explained that we can and do use our computers but are inept at diagnosing and training them to do what we want them to do. I told him that when the new hard drive was installed that replaced a crashed and ruined hard drive, I was not informed that there might be some salvageable data on my Norton service. Doug came to our home a total of 3 times in the course of a week and after much detective work determined all of our problems, retrieved some of my data (not everything, but some valuable bits) from Norton and got everything running smoothly again. He led us through the steps he was taking and tried to teach us how to survive with the machines that are generally smarter than we are.

+ -1 moreAfter a hard drive failure I took my PC to a shop that had perfomed good service for me in the past. After keeping my PC for a month, they replaced my hard drive and transfered about 5% of my data to the new drive. I then took my defective hard drive to Doug, where he transfered ALL my data to an external hard drive in a single day.
Description of Work: I need data recovered and transfered from a defective hard drive to an external hard drive I provided.

+ -1 moreEverything went well. He was very prompt in answering my call. He did an initial assessment, and gave me a ballpark estimate of what the cost might be. He took my computer for the weekend and returned it Monday morning. He did some additional work for free because he wasn't able to return it when he initially said he would. He was very easy to work with. He was very personable, and he was very clear in his assessment. He is now my computer guy!
Description of Work: He replaced the hard drive in my computer. He also did some additional work on a jammed printer I had at no additional cost. He hooked up my new external hard drive, and installed the Operating System for me.

If he has to wipe everything out, he will reinstall all of the programs back on it. He's prompt and he's a very pleasant person to work with. He's friendly and personable to have around; he's very good at what he does. He's very accommodating as far as getting to you as quick as possible and working with your schedule.

+ -1 moreMy laptop crashed while I was in the process of scanning some old pictures for my Mother's Memorial. Panic time! Worked with Doug White at another company and knew how brilliant he was with computers and knew he had a side business then. Was thrilled when I went on Angie's List and found him here. Called him immediately. He revived my laptop, saved my precious pictures, upgraded me from Vista to Windows 7 (upgrade came with laptop, just hadn't been brave enough to do it myself), took one of my other laptops and made it print something besides the gobbledy-g*** it had been spewing, and then I gave him my desktop to check out too! I think he's great and would definitely call him again. In fact, my laptop is now making these clicking noises.....bad hard drive? Doug?????
Description of Work: Saved one laptop after a crash & upgraded my OS; took another laptop & fixed it so it would print properly & helped me connect it back to the internet after a Comcast to Uverse switch; did a performance check on my desktop.

Description of Work: My third experience with this service. He helped me determine it was time to purchase a new computer in order to meet my needs and decide on appropriate features. He installed it, which entailed transferring contents of old computer to new one and troubleshooting a few glitches. He explained in language I could understand (a first!) some helpful procedures. Bonus: he took my old computer and made adaptations, so it can be used by a friend whose computer had ceased to function.
