Van Croshier Concrete

We liked their work. They were very easy to work with. We chose them because the estimate was lower. We have had some issues afterwards that have not been resolved yet. We were told these issues would be taken care of that have not been taken care of yet.

It went great. We love the new driveway and the front walkway and porch look great.

Frustrating waste of time. They couldn't even get me a quote. Glad I did not hire. Use Concrete Evolution.

There were two parts to this job: I will reserve my review of the irrigation part with the downspouts for likely next spring, when the first heavy rains come. We haven't had a truly heavy rain since the job was done, so don't want to comment just yet regarding that part of it. As for the driveway, there is ususally good and bad with every job. The bad: The only thing I didn't like was that as we got closer to the job date, we had weather delays and some traveling on my part. I could not reach them to finalize the exact date/time they would be starting work. On more than one occasion, I couldn't even leave a voice message, because their mail box was full. So we had to chase them down at the last, more than we might have liked. But this was monor compared to the job as a whole (see below). The good: EVERYTHING ELSE. Let's just say that all my friends now have "driveway envy" and are asking me who did the job. Van and his wife provided me with a very detailed estimate, which was appreciated. We had gotten two other estimates, but I chose Van Croshier because of his obvious knowledge and experience, which was evident when he came to look at the job, and because they gave a detailed and what seemed a fair estimate, and because of the reviews on Angie's List. Also, we liked the fact that he used his son and a few other highly experienced men who were always on the job, instead of an entire crew of guys who hadn't been with the company that long. The first day was delayed quite a bit because we ended up in an unexpected and lengthy discussion with my neighbor over the width of the driveway and whether it encrouched. Van's team really went out of their way to help resolve the issue, and my neighbor and I came to a mutual agreement with Van's help. The guys all seemed very professional, were knowlegable and courteous, and worked hard. This is hard and dirty work, but once the job got under way, they were here every day making it happen. The new drive and patio look just fabulous. What a difference it makes to the house too- it gives the property a different look They blended the new into the old walkways very well- the joints look great. There was some splash of concrete mix on the house, but this was VERY minor, and likely happens with every job, and comes off with wire brush. They covered the patio doors to prevent the glass from getting splashed with concrete mix. The crew cleaned up when they left, so we weren't left with a big mess afterward. You couldn't tell they were ever here except for the gorgeous driveway. All in all it was good experience, and we have a beautiful new drive and patio as a result. We didn't realize until it was done and we could see the result how much the old driveway had sunk over the years in the middle. After the new drive was put in, it was all level and they removed a big "crown"? or hill as you drive up from the street, making it a bit more even in that respect as well. It made for quite a height difference between the edge of the drive and my neighbor's lawn, but Van's team raked it as even as they could and replaced some of the sod face down in the rough area to help regenerate new grass there. Doing a lot with this aspect of the job was not really covered by any of the three contractors I talked with. Fortunately I have a great neighbor, who has been very understanding, and together we have planted new grass seed and hopefully the edge of his yard will fill in quickly. Van's team did the best they could with it, and I am very appreciateive of that. I think Van, his son, and the team did a fantastic job, and I would highly recommend them.

They said it would be 3 weeks before they could come out and do the job. I never got a call back. In 4 to 5 weeks I called them about 3 times and never got a response. In regard to Van Croshier's response, they never suggested that I should go to another company or that it would be not be cost effective for them.

After multiple estimates and much research, my husband and I decided to hire Van Croshier concrete to install a stamped concrete patio and walkway. We hired Van Croshier the previous year (2011) to do demolition work and we were impressed with their prompt attention and professionalism This demo work made way for a new deck and subsequently a new stamped concrete patio. We were excited to be nearing the end of this two year long backyard project. However, after the job was completed we had some major issues with the quality of the work. It was very difficult to follow up with Van regarding our concerns which he quickly discounted. He was very hard to contact as it took three to four weeks to get Him out to see our patio. He repeatedly discounted all of our concerns and said nothing was wrong. After researching and looking at many stamped patios we KNOW these imperfections were not normal. There seemed to be a lack of attention to detail. The concrete had diffuse cracking and crumbled edges throughout the pad and looked as if the concrete had dried out as it was stamped. The saw cut lines and stamp pattern were out of square to the deck. The cracking and crumbled edges were seen throughout the entire patio and not just limited to 3 or 4 small areas. The sealer and color were very inconsistent and there were apparent brush marks and a visible shoe print! After our frustration with Van we had a friend who is concrete contractor (unable to do our patio due to scheduling) who said that there were indeed a large amount of imperfections in the concrete. He also said that if these cracks would have been addressed within two days of the pour, many of the problems could have been fixed. After Van finally made it out to our finished patio (first and ONLY visit) he dropped off caulk for my husband to fill the cut lines with and Van agreed to fill in the cracks and reseal. This did make the patio look better but, the cracking and crumbly edges are still apparent. Not surprisingly, Van has yet to follow up with us regarding the repair. Unfortunately, there was very little to fix at this point, short of ripping out the patio and starting over ( not that Van ever gave us this option!) My husband is a contractor himself and would NEVER treat a client in such a way. Van certainly didn't care that it took us TWO years to save $$ up to pay for this POOR quality patio.Yes, Van Croshier is a highly rated concrete company and that's why we hired them in the first place. Yes, Van did come out to our house on July 4th but that was to BID the job and not follow up with us regarding our concerns. I'm sure Van has many satisfied customers over his 40+ years but, we are certainly not one of them. Needless to say, we were VERY disappointed and would not recommend this company to anyone.

Excellent! Completed on time and budget. Overall quality of work is suburb. Exceeded expectations by doing additional work that improved the overall appearance of my driveway, without any additional cost.

These guys were as nice as could be. Van and Vicky came out and gave us the estimate. They have great ideas and I had some ideas of what I wanted done. It turned out really, really well. We wanted a square off slab and he put some lines and curves in the steps. We really appreciated his input and experience. His price was quite a bit less than the 2 other bids. He was right out here and got it down in one day. The size was 330 square feet.

After the winter season in 2011 my driveway began to scale really bad. Also, the city walk infront of my home. I never put any chemicals on my driveway to melt snow and ice so I knew this was bad mud from the builders. Since they didn't warranty the driveway and proving that it was the builders fault was impossible my wife and I was left to repair it ourselves. We searched for companies on Angie's List and got three bids. Van Croshier was the most professional of all the contractors we spoke to. Van and his wife met with me and explained everything that would be involved in the project. The presented a detailed contract which, none of the other contractors did. To be honest, my wife and I couldn't afford their price but I was determined to have them do the work. So, we saved for a year. We contacted them once we had the money saved up so that they would issue a new contract and quote and their prices hadn't really changed much. They came out on time every day, explained everything they were doing, and finished on time as they promised. Their crew was professional and thorough. My neighbors were also impressed with the job they had done that they wanted quotes for their driveway. I would highly recommend Van Croshier to anyone needing to repair their driveway. You will definitely get a quality job for the money.

Van and Vicki came out the day after I called. They thoroughly explained what they proposed, including some suggestions to make the job better meet my needs. I was very comfortable with them--they were friendly and extremely knowledgeable. They e-mailed a detailed quote that night and were actually able to get to the job sooner than they originally thought. The crew showed up on time and completed the job as scheduled. They answered any questions I had during the job. They more than met my expectations, going above and beyond. Everybody was courteous and respectful of me and my property from beginning to end. A good friend (a perfectionist) who is a general contractor, reviewed the work during and after the pour and had nothing but good things to say about the crew and the work. Son Van sat down with me after the job and explained everything they did. They did a GREAT job!!. I'm sure it will add value to my property--looks so good and so professional. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone needing concrete work! GREAT, HONEST PEOPLE AND GREAT JOB!! A+++

Van and his wife were great to work with. They included moving some downspouts and filled in area between driveway and fence with stone. Crew was efficient and professional. Little Van led the project and kept us informed about progress. He answered all our questions and made great suggestions. The price is very competitive given the great quality...not the absolute cheapest but very reasonable and you get what you pay for.

I had great choices and this firm was ultimately not selected though they were a close second.

On coming out for the estimate, Van noted several issues with the existing grade of the driveway and proposed to resolve them. The work was well done. In addition to doing the job bid, he also corrected a downspout issue and reset concrete pavers that ran up to the old driveway much better than their original configuration. I did not expect this "extra" service, but was grateful for his expertise. The cleaning of the patio proved a bit harder than anticipated, but Van's crew put in the extra effort to get the job done. The entire job was done professionally and in a timely manner. The only hitch was some miscommunication about leaving the garage door open, but this was not a big issue.

They did an excellent job, were very professional and told me what they would do and what they were doing. It was a very good experience.

It went well, I was a little disappointed in the ruts left in may yard from pulling the stumps.

I had gotten three estimates for this project. I needed my back porch and steps ripped out and a new, bigger steps and porch to replace it. Van Croshier was the middle priced estimate but I chose them because they seemed the most knowledgeable and Big Van had such great ideas about how to make the porch and sidewalk look better with curves, etc. that the others didn't bother to discuss with me. They helped me pick out the concrete color and stamping. It turned out exactly how I had envisioned. They also were able to do my project earlier than they had projected, so that was a nice surprise. They worked quickly and professionally. I would highly recommend using them. I love my patio and steps!

Contractor arrived promptly and performed work over a three day period. They did an excellent job. Cleaned up well after finishing. We would definitely recommend Van Crosier to anyone in need of concrete work.

Their service was excellent in every respect. Vici and Van came out to meet with us soon after I made the initial call. After taking the time to be sure they understood exactly what we wanted, they sent us a detailed proposal and cost estimate within one day. When we accepted the proposal, they promply scheduled the work and began as soon as the weather permitted. They completed the work - removing the old concrete and a tree in a driveway expansion area, setting the forms, placing the concrete, washing and cutting joints, sealing the surface and cleaning up - within about one week. They kept us informed throughout and completed the work within the estimated budget, even though a couple items were added after they began the work. We are completely satisfied with their work from beginning to end.

VanCroshier was very prompt, seemed knowledgeable and fully explained the work and what to expect. Estimate seemed complete. Responsiveness was good, professional. I haven't decided which company I will have complete the work.

I called and talked with a man and he said he would have his wife return my call the next morning to set up a time to give an estimate. No further communication was received. I even made sure that my phone and address were correct for follow up.

They were great. I think that the quality was good, he knew what he was doing. They did beyon what they were suppose to do. He did some extra spaces and didn't charge me for them. I don't even have water in my garge because he sloped it. He did quallity work. They came out gave me and estiment and then they said when the were going to do it, then came out and did. He was a thousand less then the other company. They called to see if they could come a day early. The owners came out to see if we needed anything and if we were happy. They were very perasonable, they live up to their word, and on time. They did a great job.

Van and his wife Vicki came to our house and measured and discussed removing the old driveway. It had been poured when the house was originally built in 1928. We discussed dividing the driveway project into three separate elements and pricing accordingly. They priced the project to reflect the costs if we did one, or two elements at one time, or if we decided to do the entire job at one time. We chose to do the project all at once. That allowed the least expensive overall cost. They were kind enough to give us our Angie's List discount. Overall, we were very pleased with Van and Vicki and the job that their company performed.
