Troy-Built Wood Decks

Troy came out to the house several times over a year and revised his price several times as we made changes. He had a very competitive number. His guys were on time and very respectful. There were a couple of issues, but they took care of it quickly. I would recommend them to anyone they do a good job.

John Frame, project manager for Troy-Built Wood Decks, came out to estimate the job. We called four companies for estimates - I was particularly impressed by Mr. Frame's questions and his detailed description of the prospective work. His estimate was not the cheapest, but not out of line with the others. This was a very small front porch, not a deck. Mr. Frame did the work himself, sometimes with a helper. They were prompt, responsive, and thorough. They cleaned the area afterwards. The porch is great - we are completely satisfied.

From concept to design to installation and advice on how to maintain, Troy was excellent. He had a great design and carried it out beautifully. We couldn't be more pleased and excited to use our new deck.

They did an excellent job. I had a huge gap between dry wall and door frame, they were able to fix it. There was time issue but other then they were very professional and in and out getting the job done.

I sent out an email asking for estimates on a second story deck that would built onto a house which did not currently have a deck and there would be a possibility of a screened in porch section and add stairs that would lead down to our backyard. Troy's wife called back and scheduled an appointment for Troy to come out, talk with me about what I was looking for, and to measure our house and yard to see how to best accommodate what we were looking for. Troy came out for the appointment and talked to me about what my "vision" for our deck and showed me many pictures of his previous projects and explained everything to me. He answered all of my questions and within a week to a week and a half had a drawing with an estimate of what I was looking for. The price was very reasonable for the job and my husband and I decided to have Troy build our deck. He, his father-in-law, and son came out a few days early and started on the deck and it took about a month, give or take, with the weather and having the city come out to inspect eveything. I couldn't be happier with the deck and screened in porch Troy and his family helped build. He took my "vision" and made it a reality and I love it. My family and I have been able to enjoy some time out on the deck and can't wait for the weather to be warmer to get out there all of the time. I will definitely use Troy and his family for again. They are definite professionals and Troy really listens to what you have to say and it was a pleasure to have him build our deck.

They were the lowest prices, finished on schedule and the finished project was good.

He is very professional. His presentation was great and he brought a binder which was also great. He gave me all the information I needed. He was very competitive with his pricing. He was definitely trying to work with me and has really been amazing. He is easy to be reached and contacted at different times.

They were able to make adjustments to the plans, to work around certain plants with no damage, cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. Very pleasant to work with.

Our recent experience with Troy-Built Wood Decks was excellent in all respects. The entire process was pleasant and easy. Troy and his team were on time, worked hard, and completed this project to our entire satisfaction. He is very particular about his work; his design was the best and most functional of the vendors that were invited to give an estimate on the project.

WE are very pleased with our deck. Initial site visit went fine, and Troy offered several options. We did not want to maintain a wood deck, and had a screened in porch with a composite deck, so decided to stay with composites. The build was delayed by unpredictable weather, but as soon as the work started, it was completed quickly. No issues at all with the quality of materials or workmanship. Two years later, and the deck still looks great.

Troy was prompt in coming to quote. He brought his computer to show us examples of his work. He seemed confident that he could do the job and offered up several suggestions for what we could do. Within a few days we had a quote back and were ready to move forward. Upon agreeing to do the job Troy sent us a contract out and even came back to re-measure for one window before ordering just to make sure he had the correct dimension. Once our windows came in work began promptly. I was given a phone call a day or two before his guys came out to let us know they'd be there. The work was completed professionally and on-time. The quality of the job was better than we had expected. I would definitely recommend Troy and his crew to anyone needing deck or patio work done.

I The representative arrived on time on a Saturday, took measurements, and I was told to expect a quote in a "couple of days.". A week later I telephoned them, and I was told they were still contacting suppliers to get information for a quote. This was over 5 weeks ago and I have not heard back from them. Recently, I emailed them to let them know I have found another company.. I did not get a response.

Troy has a couple of other crews, but we waited for an opening on his schedule. When an opening arose sooner than we expected, he worked us in ahead of schedule and did a fabulous job.

Set up appt via e-mail using their website info address. Had a bit of a rocky start with Team Leader Mike Williams failing to appear for first appointment. calling over a half hour after he was supposed to be here and said he had been stuck on a job on the opposite side of the city from our home. Since this company had so very many good reports we gave him benefit of doubt and told him to come the next night. That night he arrived as specified and spent quite a bit of time with us as we showed him the area for construction and discussed options. I showed him many pics I had of what we wanted-many from their website. He was very professional and we felt listened to and very good about the meeting. He did say he would have to contact our town's zoning to discuss some issues and would get back to us by the end of the next week. To make a very long story short, I initially thought this company had blown me off after I asked for my quote and thought they never got back to me. However after talking to owner Troy Rhoton over one month later, we mutually decided that our quote landed somewhere in cyberspace and he immediately sent me the original dated quote and copies of all correspondence that never made it into my e-mail box for some unknown reason. The quote itself was well defined, easy to understand, and detailed woth reasonable cost for service. We are in the middle of deciding who we are going to use for this job and Troybuilt is a very strong possibility. Creative design suggestions and honest assessment of options. Good experience with workers, cleaned up in addition to having excellent workmanship.

I called Troy in April after seeing his reviews on Angie's List and he was one of 3 different vendors that we interviewed for a deck/patio combo. You'll notice that I rated him A across the board except for the B for Responsiveness. After hiring Troy for the job I now know why you can't get him on the phone right away...because he's in high demand doing very high quality work! He wastes no time in the day and is always one to return your call within a day or so. Troy and his team work relentlessly to get the job done right. On our first visit he came out and took all the necessary measurements. Since I didn't have a preconceived notion of what/how to design a deck, I asked him to kindly offer suggestions. He spent the next week designing the deck that we installed. Along the way, we modified sizes and added lighting and a few other features and he was a pleasure to work with on all of them. No complaints, no hassles, and the price was fair for everything. I'd trust him to do it again for us in a heartbeat.

Jeff and Tom built a beautiful deck for us. Troy and Jeff were responsive when we wanted to make changes. (We added size, angled bench backs and electrical outlets.) Jeff, the builder foreman, took the time to answer all my questions. He never made me feel like they were an intrusion. There were no unexpected costed added in. We definitely got what we paid for. There is no question that our deck is a quality product. It is so sturdy. Small details were paid attention to that made us realize how good these guys really are.

Deck finished on schedule. Troy created a great plan which needed to be approved by our HOA prior to being built. Once the plan was approved and date decided on, everything went perfectly. Troy was also an excellent communicator.

Troy was very easy to work with and collaborated with us on the overall design as well as details. He tore out the decking structure, stacked the pavers, and removed lots of overgrown ivy that engulfed the old deck. The tear-out revealed a pre-existing concrete patio. I was impressed with Troy's creativity in building around that patio. He built a custom wood gate based on a sketch we gave him. He asked lots of questions to ensure he understood what we had in mind for the gate, and it looks very nice. We are very pleased with the appearance of our new deck.

Troy and his crew are master craftsmen. Period. He was amazing to work with, from start to finish. We went over several designs for the deck, and he was creative and responsive in listening to our needs. The team was professional and completed with just a few very minor tire tracks to the yard. The finished project is WOW! I've included some pictures. Based on the response from our neighbors, I think he's going to get booked pretty quickly. The sunroom is absolutely gorgeous, with cathedral ceilings and floor to ceiling windows. We used grey Azek flooring throughout. The deck is an irregular shape, with all Azek materials, built in bench, and ambient lighting. It is at a lower level than the sunroom. Troy uses only high, high quality materials, and their craftsmenship is superb. He was flexible in installing the modern ceiling fan that I wanted. The only slight mar to his perfect record was two follow-up items that took over a month for him to address. The door to the sunroom had not been installed properly, but he was able to fix to perfection.

The job went great overall. As estimated, it was 6 days with tear out and rebuilding. They arrived on time, worked in cold weather and were very effecient. You could tell they had done many decks and really knew what they were doing. They were like a symphony working together, each doing his part expertly. Very upbeat. Always cleaned up every day. Very respectful of our space. It went very smoothe. You can tell they take pride in their work and they have reason to do so. We would recommend Troy Built Decks to anyone with out hesitation. We were fortunate that we got the best and just love our new deck!

Troy was excellent to work with from beginning to end. He gave excellent suggestions, offered referrals of finished work, used quality materials and expert workmanship. Troy was timely for consultations and beginning and completing project. He and his crew always cleaned up the work area after the work day and were pleasant to have around. After a summer filled with outdoor projects and workers, Troy Built Decks was a very rewarding project from beginning to end. We love the new deck and get many compliments.

They did the work in less than a week. They were excellent. I would use them in the future.

It was a big job and he did a very nice job. It matches the house and if you drove by, you wouldn’t even notice it was there. I was happy with the work and the price was reasonable. It was a good price for the job that was done.

They arrived on time, worked late, and kept us informed of what would be happening at each stage of the project. It was easy to see that they took great pride in their workmanship. We are extremely pleased with the finished product. The relationship with Troy Built Wood Decks was outstanding. We feel that Troy, Terry, and John gave us a beautiful deck that will serve us for many years.
