Troy-Built Wood Decks

Met Troy in April 2013, he had plans for the job back within a week. Decided to contract the job with him due to Angie's list recommendations, a review of pictures he sent us for jobs that he had completed that were similar to ours and because he seemed like a hard working, honest guy (which during the work and after the job was completed was true). I contracted with him in April 2013 but he could not get started intil the third week of August because he was already booked with jobs to that point in his schedule. I'm glad we waited. This was a complex job. The upper deck system acts as a roof to the lower screened in porch. Therefore, a water impermeable membrane system needed to be included in the job. Troy touched base with me in early August giving me an estimate of when he might be able to get started on our job. WE chose the Azek maintenance free materials including the rail system which we were unsure at the time whether we wanted to spend the extra money on the rail system. We also "waffled" back and forth as to whether to add the Eze-Breeze windows in the screened in porch below, again due to additional costs. In retrospect, now we are very glad we decided to go the full maintenance free route and spend the extra money for both of these options. The day he started the job with his father-in-law and son (this is a family business and Troy does a majority of the work himself), it was 90-100 degrees outside and the temperatures stayed that way for the three weeks it took to complete the work. It was truly a marvel to watch this man work, from tearing out the old deck and screened in porch to all the various construction phases of the new system, he knows what he is doing and in my opinion is a Master Carpenter whether he wants to claim that or not. He usually worked about a 6-7 hour day on our job but did not take a lunch break on most days. The materials he ordered for our project came in two large deliveries. After the job was completed, during the first one or two rains, there were small leaks noted that needed to be addressed.Troy addressed those issues promptly and so far everything is fine. We love being able to enjoy the new deck and screened in porch for a full first season this year (2014). We would definitely recommend his services.

They kept their timeline and the job was done exceptionally well. They came up with a beautiful design of the deck and they executed exceptionally well. I am very happy with the way the deck has turned out. I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants to get a deck built. The correct materials that they used for the decking, which was a composite, was also really good.

Troy was very professional. He did a great job. However, I did not hire him. Was very surprised at the cost of the job and was not ready to spend that much money.

Went well considering the bad weather. They worked in the freezing cold and put in full days. Always cleaned up and were always careful about open spaces so my dog couldn't get out of the yard. It wasn't inexpensive but you get what you pay for. Quality of materials and workmanship is outstanding. Looking forward to enjoying our new deck this spring and summer.

Troy met us at our home and listened to what we wanted to have done regarding the construction of a wooden deck (on to of and existing brick deck). He scoped out the project and designed a deck that we were totally happy with. We had to put down a $100 deposit and schedule the installation (about 1 1/2 months later. The lag in construction time allowed us to get permission from our homeowners association. The drawing Troy provided was perfect and the deck was approved. About 1 week prior to beginning the deck, Troy met with us to confirm details of the project and answered all of our questions. Nothing was changed from the original design. The project team consisted of Troy, his father and his son. They estimated 1 week for the project, began on time and finished on time. The deck is BEAUTIFUL! We could not be more pleased with the results and will definitely recommend him to everyone. We are considering an addition to the deck and will use Troy-Built Wood Decks.

The appointment was set and my husband even called the day of and left a message. The representative did not call or come to the house as scheduled. It is unfortunate because based on their reviews we were looking forward to the meeting.

Everything went according to the plan. The job was scheduled for 5 days and was done within that time frame. The two employees working on the deck, railings and pergola were professional and kept us informed with daily updates. There were a few questions and concerns about the pre-existing floor boards, those were addressed and fixed. Everything turned out great and we love how it looks. The pergola and railings really add some character to the deck. It was very plain and simple before the re-do. Troy met with us in July and we had some idea of what we wanted, but didn't have anything specific He came up with a design that was perfect! The only negative was that they were so booked up, that they couldn't get to it until Sept. But, it was worth the wait!

Troy was the ultimate professional. They worked in during the worst weather of the year, dealing with a lot of snow and rain. He was creative and meticulous. Troy was on the job with his workers everyday. He was extremely easy to contact and really listened to all of our concerns. It is truly a work of art. We would hire him again in a heartbeat, but it may be 20 years before we need him again because it is such a solid, quality structure.

It did not go well at all. How can you work with a contractor who doesn't do what they say they will do?

We had a great experience with Troy built wood decks! He and his team are hard working and honest! Troy is flexible and answered all my questions. It was a pleasure working with him. The screened in porch is beautiful! The 14x20 size is perfect for a separate dining and lounge area. The porch is constructed very well and the eze breeze panels are worth the cost. The deck is unique and way nicer than your standard deck layout. Troy cares about his customers and tries to make you happy. We would use Troy again and would highly recommend him to friends.

We met with Troy back in July. I showed him the approximate size I wanted. When we received his plan, we were positive we wanted him to build our deck. I asked for additional items and it was no trouble. Terry his dad, along with Ernest started on August 20. We had a week where they couldn't work due to a back order on the fasteners. This was fine because that week the heat indexes were close to 100. It took longer, but I LOVE my deck! I'm out there every day! As a matter of fact, I'm on my way out there in a bit. I highly recommend this company to anyone wanting a deck! Thanks guys!

Troy's crew did a great job! Along with great work on rebuilding our wood deck and installing a new wood fence the Troy Built team made great suggestions to improve the project. In addition, when I had questions along the way they were patient and professional in discussing them with me. There is always business for companies that do their work well and value their customers. Troy Built should have no problem staying very busy for a long time.

I LOVE our new deck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I met with Troy, I asked for a specific timeframe for the deck completion. He and his team did a wonderful job making things happen. When the heat and the rain delayed them for a few days, they brought in an additional team member to get the deck completed on time. The people were so knowledgeable and so nice. Terry was wonderful to work with. His assistants were polite, and they cleaned up everything spotlessly when they were not on site. I began with the pool cover bench but decided to upgrade to a new fence and the pergola after seeing what a noce job had been done.

We have not had our deck built yet, but plan to in the spring and will be using Troy-Built Wood Decks. We were very happy with what they presented us from the start, and upon shopping around a little, we were very happy with the price as well. I have a large deck - 1,600 sq ft! Despite my meticulous annual maintenance, it was time for upgrades and a fresh look! I got Troy's name from Angie's List . . . as one of the top-rated professionals in the area. I soon understood why. Troy met with me in March 2013, and took care to understood my overall project expectations, my special design requests, and my budget. The advance planning was important because of the icy winter weather / spring rains, and I wanted my deck done in May. In early May, the super trio (Troy, Bill, and Tom) did an excellent job efficiently removing the old deck and embarked on the fantastic makeover! This included redesigning the seating area, grilling area and railings I desired, and adding some unique features (e.g., "deck columns") to match the style of my home. They were orderly and neat. They also worked effectively with an electrician for the lighting I needed. By request, they weather-proofed the deck for me when the warmer June weather arrived. I have been thrillled with the results. I highly recommend Troy-Built Wood Decks. Hard workers! Superior craftsmen! Happy customer! Many impressed friends & guests! Plan early!

John and Dan did a fantastic job. The deck is designed to hold the extra weight of the hot tub. John was easy to communicate with and always responded quickly to phone calls and emails. They arrived when they said they would and completed the job on time. The job site was tidy throughout the week as they completed the project. The deck looks wonderful - the quality of the work really shows. I would definitely recommend them!

John Frame came out and provided several quotes. Top notch service from highly rated service provider. The only reason I did not go with them was another highly rated service provider offered to do the same work for less. But no complaints at all - they did an excellent job quoting and following up w/ what was promised in terms of the detailed quote.

Troy and his team did a great job. We had a basic idea of what we wanted but Troy helped make it more functional and budget friendly. The team started work exactly when promised and were done within a week despite weather challenges. Troy managed all of the Carmel permits and was able to quickly incorporate changes required by the inspector. We love our new deck!
