The Glass Guru (North)

I have some work that needs to be done with some of the glass in our house, anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000. I called the glass guru twice. I got a taped message each time that said I should leave my name and number and someone would get back to me promptly. It is now over a week. No one has called back. I can only assume that their definition of prompt and mine differs. One of their competitors was here on the same day I called. I believe I will choose them instead.

We had 3 kitchen windows that had started to show wood-rot. Initially we priced replacing them (with Andersen & Pella) and price was very high. My husband priced the windows and considered doing the labor himself. Next we investigated repairing the bad parts. Glass Guru came out, inspected the windows, and provided a quote that was very reasonable compared to the other options (about the same price as the windows would have cost if my husband was doing the labor). Rather than just cutting out bad pieces and covering them up with plastic, they truly replaced each damaged piece of wood. It took about 5 weeks before they could actually perform the job, the crew accomplished it in 2 days. They even painted the wood to match our house paint job. (We thought we'ld have to do that ourselves) Very happy with the quality.

Glass Guru was great they informed me of what to expect and any issues that might arise right off the bat. They were quick and fixed the windows very quickly.

Glass Guru submitted a bid for the repair of several wooden framed windows in our house. They were not the cheapest, so we did not initially select them. However, when our selected contractor finished only 70% of the job he bid, we turned back to them with our tails between our legs and asked for help. They were not only gracious about it, but they came right away and got us into their queue. They also reviewed the work of the previous contractor.

They did a good job and it was good. It's working well.

Within a day or so after I called Glass Guru, their salesperson came to my house to look over all the work I wanted to have done and provide estimates. Because my storm window is over 60 years old, the pieces needed to be special-ordered as did the parts to fix the seals on my newer replacement windows. The exterior casement also needed to be ordered. All the parts came in at different times so the repairs have been completed separately over the past month. I am still waiting for the crank to come in. Sue, (the customer service rep, is terrific; friendly, efficient, and professional. She ensures that I know exactly how much everything will cost and tries to give an approximate date for repairs. The installers were okay, they came on time and did the needed work. Never saw the salesperson again. Sue handled all the follow-up.

It went very nice. At that time, I think I was not sure on what to do. I have no likes or dislikes. They were just very relaxed.

I found another company on Angie's List and I went with them. They came out reasonably quickly.

I called Glass Guru and told them what the problem was. They gave me an estimate over the phone, which I thought was reasonable. I then made an appointment for a technician to come out and take exact measurements. The technician was on time, polite and efficient. He confirmed the price and took a deposit (about 30%). Less than a week later, Glass Guru called and said my glass was ready to be installed. I made another appointment for the technician to come and install the glass. Again, the technician was on time, polite and efficient. Withing 15 minutes my double-paned glass window was repaired and reinstalled. It was nine days from start to finish. I was completely happy with all aspects of the repair.

They were very responsive to my call and scheduled an appointment for the following day. After measuring the glass unit that needed to be replaced they gave me a quote. The new glass had to be ordered and was installed about a week and a half later. Glass Guru showed up ontime and did a great job.

Window seal was broken, panes were fogged up inside. Called to see if repair was possible. They sent out a technician who determined the window must be replaced. They ordered (with a $100 deposit, I believe) a new window and set a date for install. Technician installed the window and it looks beautiful. Highly recommended. Fast, very communicative and efficient. Affordable, too.

I called glass guru because I had been looking everywhere for a place that would install a doggy door in the glass of my back door and my mom had heard they did. From the minute I spoke with Sue to schedule an appointment, to the completion of the job....everyone was courteous friendly and professional. Mitch came to my house, took measurements, and in and out in a jiffy! After the glass was cut and my door came in they called to set an install date. They arrived on time and gave a curtesy call on their way. They came across a few challenges with a few things along their way but never lost their cool and remained friendly. Overall, if i ever have any need for their services they will be the first one I call. Thank you glass guru from me and my happy pups.

Service was excellent, the glass was produced quickly, and the cost was significantly less than several other vendors that I called. I would definitely use again.

Overall, the job took two-three weeks from beginning to completion. The crew was punctual and professional. They were extremely neat and tidy in their work and cleaned the entire work area each day. They were respectful of our home, our property and considerate of our pet. They were honest and trustworthy. One of the window's glass panes became cracked during the work (it's quite amazing that more of them were not damaged given the complexity of work involved). It was fully replaced and installed in less than 48 hours at no cost. We are very pleased with the work and the outcome. The windows and screens look new! Thanks to the wonderful crew . We would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

Three patio doors needed to either be replaced or restored. The glass was bad in one section in each of the doors. Got estimates on both replacing and restoring. The cost of restoring was less than half of replacing. Since I had good experience in working with the Glass Guru previously, and they were highly rated with Angie's List. I gave them a call. Mitch was prompt in giving me an estimate and the work was scheduled to be started within the week. The glass was first replaced and then a couple days later Reid Miller and his crew started restoring the wood around the glass and the frames. Probably took a week for the work to be done. I had them come back for a minor issue before approving the completion of the job. They were prompt and resloved the issue. I am very satisfied with the results.

After my initial call, they sent a service rep out to take a look at our window and discuss options. The seal in our window had been broken for some time, and as it was explained to us, doing a seal repair wouldn't improve the "look" of our window. The best option, it seemed for us, was to replace the glass in the window. We were quoted $196 for the new glass plus labor. The glass panel measures approx. 72"x 8". We paid $50 up front and the balance upon completion. My only complaint was that we were told it would be 3 weeks to get the glass once ordered, yet we went 4 without hearing from them. I called to inquire after 4 weeks and was told that they indeed had the glass and we needed to schedule to install. Not a big deal. They made up for it however by calling us when an installation appointment opened up due to a cancelation. So instead of waiting another week to get our new glass installed, it was done the next day! It took the installer about an hour to remove the old glass, install the new, caulk and clean up. He was professional, courteous, and even hung our patio curtains back up that we had taken down prior to his arrival! Overall, a great experience! The service rep, installer, and office staff were all helpful and professional, albeit we may have been temporarily forgotten :-). Definitely will recommend and if needed, will use again!

They were awesome to work with overall! We had a lot of windows that had moisture, and after the warranty was up, we noticed more windows having this problem. Some of them that I had already replaced had the problem again. This company re-sealed the windows. They’ve been through the winter and summer without any problems at all! I didn’t even have to have the windows re-painted. They saved me a lot of money with this.

The gentleman who came out to do the estimate was not the same who came out to do the work, and they did a good job and it was better that we had to only have the glass replaced instead of having the whole window replaced. They also said that they were very willing to change the date of installation if the weather was bad, which I thought was nice.

They did an excellent job at a reasonable price. We would definitely use them again.

The Glass Guru originally came out to provide a quote on repairing/replacing rotten window sashes and trim on multiple windows, and a single glass replacement for one window. Not knowing what to expect on the cost, I decided overall it was more than I was willing to spend. However, I still needed the window glass replaced and they were willing to do just that even though it was fraction of the total amount quoted. When the replacement glass came in, we scheduled a time for the installation, but when the installer got here, he determined that the original measurement was slightly off and the glass was the wrong size. So he made another measurement and they got the correct size on order. Although the job was delayed, they were prompt and the installation was quick and easy. He was in and out in no time. I would definitely use the Glass Guru again.

It was a very good experience. The individual who came out to provide an estimate was very professional and courteous. He explained the process thoroughly and was upfront about the fact that there can be situations in which the process doesn't work and the glass has to be replaced. However, if that happens, they apply the amount you paid for moisture removal to the glass replacement. So there is no risk in trying that procedure first. The cost for moisture removal was about half of the estimate to replace the class. They scheduled a date just a few days later to do the work and were able to complete the entire process without entering the house, so I didn't have to stay home. They came on the date they said they would and completed the work just as promised. They were also very upfront that it can take up to 12 weeks for the moisture to completely disappear. And the process worked! After a few weeks, no more moisture. The window is perfectly clear and looks great. I highly recommend this company and the process.
