Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Service procedure(s) went better than I had expected.

They came to my house within a couple of hours. The job was just fine. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future if necessary.

I called RR and after getting the service line (not on the main page), I was immediately connected to an efficient customer service rep. Despite calling during a snow storm on a Saturday, we only had a two hour wait. Dave showed up before the two hours was up. He was friendly, nice to our dogs : ) and very efficient. He took care of our problem by snaking both the sewer waste pipe and the two floor drains in our basement.

My experience was good. He was very friendly.

They did a good job and they cleaned up well.

I called Roto-Rooter after frustrating and unsuccessful hours (over several days) with 2 other companies inability to keep my double kitchen sink drains clear. In fact the last company's second attempt was being performed when I called Roto. I don't know why Roto-Rooter is not on the top of the list. In less than 30 minutes (before the other company had left with sludge in both sinks) Roto-Rooter was here. Before the work was started and before I knew the cost, David and his trainee assured me that if they could not get it unclogged they would not charge me. Well they diagnosed the problem with trips between the basement and kitchen sink. There was nothing stuck in the sink or drain but years of sludge in a cast iron drain that just needing cleaning. My house is 60 years old and I have been here 13 years. I've never had this problem until about 45+ days ago. I plunged, snaked and liquid-plumbered it to no avail. Two more companies that I paid did no better. One of the companies came twice. Roto-Rooter was thorough and stayed long enough to make sure that their job was complete and offered a 6 month warranty at no extra charge. They also made recommendations to keep the drains cleaner and clearer. Their drain cleaner is expensive which is included in the price above. They may cost more than the other companies but they also are worth more than the other companies I tried. I can't say enough about them helping keep my sanity during my all important gardening season where I use my sink extensively.

We're not very happy with their work. The drain is working now, but they didn't dig in the right place first; they they told us about the offset, which I think probably they caused, and we had to pay extra; then, the grade of the sidewalk was put in but it wasn't draining in the right area. We wouldn't use them again. It does work but it was just messy. We thought the price was high. I tried to call the office a few times, and they were sometimes had to reach.

We needed to have the original sewer line dug up and replaced as tree limbs were intruding into/between the clay tiles. Dave Wyatt, Field Supervisor, came out and performed a camera inspection and supplied a quote last October 2009. We made the decision recently to have the work done. The sewer line was replaced the next day by Jeremy and Brian who finished the work within the day which took approximately 12 hours. Dave was very thorough in explaining the procedure and answering our questions and Jeremy and Brian performed a great job in a very professional manner. Thanks to all three.

See above for details, but it went very well. The line has been clear since with subsequent large washer loads not giving us a problem. Problem solved! They offered us a complimentary camera scan of our line to the main sewer to determine condition of the sewer line. I was pleased with the service.

This is a D for price, maybe an F. We may rent a power snake for $50 and do it ourselve.

It took three servicemen coming out before the issue was resolved. The third one was able to diagnose the problem and did a great job.

My drains backed up in the house,toliet drains. From past experience I knew I had a root problem. I called Rota Rooter and was told they could have someone at my house with in a couple of hours. I want to congratulate your phone rep. She was sympathetic and pleasant. I recieved a phone call telling me someone would be here in less than an hour. Your rep arrived, within the hour, and I explained the problem. He told me the price, $244. He cleared the drain and suggested the root killer, which sold for $52. I agreed and things have been fine.

The Technician that ran the camera asked me if I wanted to fix just to the break in the line or if I wanted to fix it to the sewer. I clearly stated that I wanted it fixed to the city sewer. He said if I did this I would never in my lifetime have to worry about my sewer system again. He wrote up a quote for $4,985.00, and told me that if I had the work done within 30 days they would do it for $4,315.00. I called them on 12/24/09 and said if they would do the work for $4,000.00 they could have the job. They agreed and came out on December 26th and did the work. On 3/31/10 our toilet backed up and spilled water all over the bath room. I called Roto-Rooter and a plumber came out and cleaned out the sewer line again pulling out stuff from the line and breaking a piece of his blade in the process. The plumber they sent out again suggested a camera inspection. The next day a Roto-Rooter technician ran a camera down the line and at 67 feet from the house the line connection was not aligned with the sewer and this was causing the problems I was having. When I stated they needed to fix this they said that it was not part of the agreement (Since when is the connection to the city sewer system not part of a sewer repair?). My understanding before I signed the agreement with Roto-Rooter was that they were going to replace my main sewer line from the house to the main sewer and that this line was guaranteed. This is what the technician led me to believe when he was writing up the quote and what I believed I was agreeing to when I signed the agreement. The technician even said that I would never again have to worry about my sewer. I feel that the responsibility of the sewer repair should belong Roto-rooter and that it should have been done correctly in the first place. The technician that ran the camera on 4/1/10 said the manager would call me the next day to discuss this matter. As of the writing of this letter on 4/8/10 I have not heard from a manager! It is hard to believe that a company the size of Roto-Rooter, with such a good reputation and one that has been in business since 1935 is handling this situation with so little regard for the quality of the work preformed and the customers satisfaction. You certainly would not have stayed in business this long if you treated all your customers like this. Enclosed are copies of the work order. I feel that I had a verbal contract with Roto-Rooter when I clearly stated to the technician that I wanted it fixed to the city sewer and he wrote up the work order saying he would take care of the problem. Please help in rectifying this situation.

Great! He was very nice and explained everything he was doing.

When we called, they said they'd be out at 5 pm. They arrived at 7 pm and immediately addressed our problems. We have not had any issues with our plumbing since they came out.

Roto Rooter did not show up during the 3 hour window that they said that would show. When I called to cancel, the operator was non-apologetic and then passed me off to dispatch to finalize the cancellation.

They did a good job. They showed up on time and did what they were asked to do. Everything worked out just fine.

I have always used them. I have used them for years before I even joined Angie?s List. The quality of their work was good. Their price was reasonable. I would use them again in the future.

They came the same day I called but the man who did the work on the sink said he wasn't actually a plumber so he couldn't fix the leak in the pipe.

They came out on a weekend with no extra charge. They arrived within an hour of my call. They were prompt and professional. They removed the roots from my sewer system.

They did a good job, but, their price was just outrageous. They charged us double than what it should have been. However, they came right out after I called them and the gentleman who came here was nice.

I looked up several companies. I called Roto-Rooter but they would not give me an estimate over the phone. They told me that they would come out and tell me what it would cost. He said that there was no charge for the estimate if I did not use it. I had taken the drain apart. They had direct access to the line going into the wall and all they had to do was run a snake down under the basement about 30-40 feet. It was done a long time ago. When they came, they quoted an outrageous price. It was about $275. I told them I could get it done for less. I went out and rented one for $40. I cleaned the clog in 15 minutes. The time taken to pick it up, clean out the drain and return it was about 1 hour. Then they kept calling me and asked me if I had decided what to do. I told them to leave me alone. I told them they were expensive. I told them that if they had given me the estimate over the phone, it would have saved them the drive and my time. He immediately cut the price to $150. He did not have to call anyone for an approval. They called me for a survey. At that time I found out that the service people would get a commission over any excess they charged. The person who came in was clean and he did not mess my house.

The plumber was very professional and actually ended up doing something extra that we hadn?t asked of him. He hadn?t charged us anything extra on labor for that job, but had only charged for the part.

Phoned early in the morning and he arrived within 2 hours. He phoned once to let us know he was on his way. Cleared the drain from kitchen sink thru the entire lenght of the pipe past the exit point in the basement40-50+ ft). Cleaned up work area and was very knowledgable and friendly. I recommend and would use the company again.

I've always used Roto Rooter and wouldn't use anyone else. They are clean, even though plumbing is a dirty job. They explain to you what needs to be done and hwy it needs to be done, also giving you recommendations. They are very professional and because of all these reasons I will continue to use them.
