Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I first contacted Roto Rooter to take a look at one of my toilets that would not flush completely. I.e., the water would not strongly swish around the bowl & then go down completely after flushing. (Sometimes it would take 3 to 6 flushes to get the bowl to empty properly). On 06/09/12, a real young (extremely pleasant) guy came out. His first take on the situation was that we had a clog somewhere along the line. He proceeded to run one of those long, electric snakes from the roof vent stack through the line. That did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to fix the problem. He had to leave for another appointment & didn't have any more time to look further into what the problem might be with the toilet. I paid $169 for that visit. Two days later, Roto Rooter sent out an older (read...more experienced) gentleman (also extremely pleasant) to take a look at the toilet situation. (His first name is Henry...don't remember or didn't get his last name). Anyway, Henry proceeded straight to the problem toilet, asked me if I had any Q-tips. I said "yes" and handed him a Q-tip. He broke the Q-tip in half and then took the end of the Q-tip without the cotton on it and started "digging" around in the jets (little holes) under the toilet rim. I asked him what he was doing and he said that many times, especially with older toilets...over time...the jets under a toilet's rim will becomed clogged with mineral deposits, etc. If you clean these jets out, chances are you'll get the water in the toilet bowl to drain properly. THAT DID IT! The toilet flushed, water drained down the bowl perfectly after that. While (Mr.) Henry was doing his thing with the Q-tips, I happened to mention a problem we were having with water leaking from somewhere in the attic down onto a bedroom floor. He said he'd be happy to take a look at it even though that was not what I called Roto Rooter out for. Once in the attic, he crawled over to what I now know to be the drain pipe for the A/C unit. He took a look down the pipe and said that it was probably filled with algae and/or other gunk that builds up over time and was just clogged. He took his clog buster...the thing that pushes a very quick, powerful burst of compressed air and "shot" it down the drain. Once again...problem fixed. No more water leaking into the bedroom. He also asked me for a little bleach so he could pour it down that A/C drain line and keep it clean. The reason I did not give Roto Rooter an "A" across the board was because the first visit by them was completely useless and did absolutely nothing to correct the problem I was having. And then, they send out a man who, in my estimation, was somewhat of a super-star plumber. I give that man (Henry) an "A" for his efforts and most importantly... his KNOWLEDGE. Here's the thing, I probably would call Roto Rooter in the future...but ONLY if I could get this guy Henry to come out. If he was not available, I'd call some other plumbing company.

Recently moved into an older home (built 1966) that wasn't well loved prior to purchase. The pipes under the kitchen sink we not taken care of well and were rearranged incorrectly in what we hope was a DIY project. After a few months in the home the pipes began to leak. I set up the appointment online and they came out two days later. The tech replaced all of the pipes under the sink and correctly routed everything to and from the garbage disposal. I now have a lot more room under my sink and not a single leak. I am very pleased and will definitely have Roto Rooter back if I need plumbing.

I called today, they were here within 90 minutes and began trouble shooting right away. He tried to unclog both toilets with the hand auger, but nothing. He brought the machine in and it really went a long way before the toilets moved again. Because he had to use the machine instead of the hand auger, the price was $275. It's definitely more than I wanted to spend, but I'm not sure what that machine costs, so who knows. In the end, I wrote out the check gladly to have working toilets again. It's funny how much you'll pay for working toilets!

My main drain line was completely blocked by tree roots and accumulated debris. I was unsatisfied with my local plumber's repeated failed efforts to clear it with a powered snake, so I called Roto-Rooter. They were prompt, very friendly, and charged less than the plumber with whom I had a service contract! I expected to be charged extra for a technician to make a separate call to run a camera snake down the line, but it was included. When Roto-Rooter's snake efforts also failed, it was clear we needed the water knife to cut the roots out - but we had no exterior cleanout. They excavated that same afternoon, and the water knife tech was there after supper. If the inspector hadn't left for home they would have filled in that evening, but it all wrapped up the next morning. I was astounded they had four different crews at my house (snake, camera, excavator, water knife) on the same day I called them about my drain problem. They really understood my problem, moved mountains to fix it, and told me what I really needed to know about keeping on top of it for the future. I couldn't be happier!

They did very good work. They did the work over night. I would them again if I need more sump pump work.

They came out and fixed the sink. I have used them before and they have always done good work. I have never had any trouble with them. They have always been good and don’t leave a mess.

It was awesome. The technician who came out tried for an hour to unclog the drain but was unable to do so. He did not charge me for that. Another technician, Mr. Lewis, came out and replaced the pipes and gave me a good price.

Roto Rooter was great. They showed me the tree roots that were blocking the line with their camera and set up at time to replace the line. Several options were given to complete the job and it was done with out a problem in the middle of winter

I called them and someone returned my call that they were on their way within a half hour. Excellent service! Timely! Explained and actually showed us, on camera, what was going on in our system. Fixed it promptly. I really can’t say enough about the person I had. I would call this gentleman first for any further assistance. I know Roto Rooter is a good company but I have to give most credit to the serviceman I had!!!

While he was 2 hours later than they had said, he did a great job. As a bonus, he explained what was happening to my child and a couple neighborhood kids. They found it interesting!

At 10:30 on a Saturday night my only toilet decided to stop flushing due to a clog. When I called they said it would be 2-3 hours, but they actually took just 1 hour to arrive. Artie explained everything in detail, including the first step and options if that didn't work. Fortunately he was able to clear it with the hand auger, step 1. The price seemed a bit steep, but I appreciated that he explained I could buy a used auger for about $30 and do it myself next time it happened, to save money. Overall I was very pleased with the experience.

He did a very good job, and he was a very nice gentleman! He will give you discounts if they have them as well.

I was able to get same day service and dispatch was very helpful. The plumber they sent out, Dave, was very friendly and professional! He made suggestions for how to keep the drains clean in the future. He was also very careful not to get the house dirty and cleaned up after he competed his work. I only wish I had checked Angie's list first to take advantage of the coupon!

Called looking for a good plumbing company to possibly replace a sump pump. I think all the good plumbing companies were busy so I called roto-rooter. Major Fail! Although, I do appreciate the fact that the plumber did tell me my pump was in working order. I knew it was a mistake that I called them because I called them in the past for an estimate for a leak around tub and they wanted to charge 300+ dollars to caulk my tub. Oh, and it was the same plumber. I guess I believe in second chances so I showed this guy a leaking copper pipe I had. He told me it would be 300+ dollars and I said ok. Major FAIL on my part. When he brought the final bill it was 422.00$ WITH MY ANGIES LIST DISCOUNT. Didn't feel he was upfront with pricing and WILL NEVER USE ROTO-ROOTER AGAIN.

He was very nice. It took a few hours to get the right parts. He showed me where all the shut offs were to the house inside and outside. I used the coupon from Angie's list to save $30 on the bill. No extra charge was incurred for the weekend or nights.

Dave from Roto-Rooter came out the same afternoon I called . He was right on time, and called when he was on the way. He gave me the estimate upfront, including possible extra costs for additional footage if the pipe was over 100 feet. Also, he let us know about a $40 internet coupon that was applicable. Dave was courteous, diligent, and knowledgeable. The bill, including extra footage, and after the coupon, was $390. More than $200 less than the other company. We highly recommend this company, and would definitely use them again.

I got home from work to find none of my drains working properly - no flush for toilets, water backing up into my tub, it was ugly. They were out within 3 hours, snaked the line a few times; the camera was used two times to check for possible clogs/tree roots (both were found) between snakings. They got it cleaned out and everything working properly..

They came out and did not really do anything. They were very nice and personable. It was over priced for what they did.

Serviceman went to his truck brought the power rooter in - opened the drain and rooted the line, Took him about 20 minutes or so. Filled that sink twice with water and released the water to watch the manner it was draining. Both times the large amount of water drained quickly and completely. The service was provided about 10 days ago and the drain remains open - disposal and dishwasher have both been used and have drained well

Crew was good about keeping me posted on the progress of the job.

Scheduled ONLINE Friday evening for 7 AM Saturday. Rick called me at 0755 and said that because of weekend, he was short handed, but would call as soon as someone was available. At 0828, Rick called and said his tech was on his way and would be there in 20 minutes. Dave arrived and proceeded to use his auger from the septic tank. I had a relative check the septic yesterday, so he did not have to find and dig up. Dave did a great job and gave me some advice about my plumbing. Very nice fellow. I expected Roto to be more expensive, but I thought $259.00 was a little salty. I thought maybe the charge was a weekend charge, but Dave said that was their standard price.
