Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

It went well. They showed early within the time frame given so it was nice not having to wait around all day. The cost of the repair did seem kind of high, but I had just purchased and Angie's Deal so it was only $80.

I feel they are scam artist and I would stay away. They quoted me $4,700 dollars to dig up my driveway which is cement to fix my plumbing issue. I decided to use someone else since they were significantly cheaper, they only charged me $200 to do the work. I felt they were taking advantage of me and they are not trained properly.

Service technicians were knowledgeable and friendly. Feel strongly they did the best job possible and gave recommendations for how to keep drains clear. There were three separate techs at my house working for two days to make sure they did everything to clear out pipes! We are impressed and would definitely hire Roto-Rooter again!

I was scheduled for service between 10-12 on 1/8/14 for frozen pipes. I called several times and received a call several times that they were running behind. This is understandable considering the weather. Finally received a call about 7:00 p.m. that the tech was on his way, and it would be about 1/2 hour before he gets here. Around 8:00, I received another call that the tech was not coming because our road was not plowed and he saw 3 accidents. UPDATE: This is a follow-up from my review of 2/4/14. I received a courtesy call from Patrick (supervisor), apologizing for the incident on 1/8/14. I appreciate the fact that Patrick considered me as a valued customer. Until this unfortunate incident, I have never had any problems with Roto-Rooter and have always been pleased with them. Because Patrick took the time to call me and apology, I will more than likely use this company again for my future plumbing needs. Thank you, Patrick.

David arrived within the time window (which was within an hour of me called for service!) and was very professional from the get-go. I originally had a different company come out as my garage drain was flooding half my garage. He thought it was the main line that had a clog in it seeing every time we ran the shower, the water would gush out of the garage drain and toilets wouldnt work. He then told me that they could not unclog the line because he couldnt find the clean out access point on the main line. He said that they only unclogged the main line from this access point so he "tried" to sell me on getting a clean out point installed for the low price of $2000! I dont have that kinda money right now so I called Roto-rooter and am happy I did. They went through our toilet downstairs and took care of the situation. They are sending someone out to take a video of the inside of the pipes to see if there is anything else wrong. I really appreciate how quickly they came out and how professional they are in their work. I will definitely use again for my plumbing needs!

I asked for a shut off valve and got a cap. I thought the $250 value would cover this but perhaps not. I was glad with the response time but I will have to pay more in the future now.

Very professional. Sent different crews trained to handle aspects of the job. All worked well, and completed project in a timely matter. Camera showed a pocket of roots that were still evident - they reran water pressure, and got rid of those roots.

They did a good job. It turned out to be a great deal. It was a very fast service. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and it was excellent all the way around. They also came the same day I purchased the deal which worked out great!

He did a great job. He brought the right sized snake and other equipment. He tried once, but he hadn't gone far enough to reach the clog. He re-snaked it and got the drain clear. He told me that a lot of the kitchen sink clogs are old grease which hardens to become 'stone like'. He's a very nice man.

Roto-Rooter was quick to show up since it was a weekend and did not charge emergency hours (because they keep regular weekend hours). Arthur was quick to show up after we made the call and to assess the problem. He had our line cleared in a reasonable time and cleaned up thoroughly after himself. I would recommend Roto-Rooter to anyone needing lines cleared!

The technician did not show up at allotted time so we called two more times and finally he came out. He cursed several times while in my home and was so rude to me that my son stepped in and said something to the tech. He still continued to be rude about a coupon he did not want to honor that I printed off their website.) He was so rude and I said I was going to call his supervisor and he replied " go ahead I don't really care" So I did call and they sent me a fifty dollar coupon for future service which I will never use! In fairness the manger did call and apologize for the tech behavior and said the tech would-be dealt with. In my opinion there are other places to choose from and I will not be a repeat customer. The pipe was fixed but he he cut a hole in my wall three sizes bigger than he needed to and I had a big job patching up the uneven cut and mess he made.

They were supposed to come in the AM,in 2 days, but did not and did not call. They did get there in the afternoon.

They were suppose to show up between 4 and 7 pm. When they didn't show, I called them to cancel. Well, tried to call, they didn't answer - just held me on hold.

The men showed up on time and were very kind. However, the quality of the work was subpar. The men did not actually fix my plumbing problem. They replaced the old pipes with new pipes in the exact same configuration that was causing the problem in the first place. After $4800 of work, they told me they could try to rearrange the pipes and repipe it again for another $1000. It was unacceptable to me that the men did not have the experience to know that the original piping configuration was part of the problem. I also had a problem with my pump tank. The original estimate said that replacing the lid would be easy. However, it took many hours (so, hundreds of dollars) of work to replace the lid. Then since the problem hadn't been fixed, they tried fixing something else, then something else, each time having to spend time removing the lid. The plumbers also did not come prepared with the correct supplies. While paying the plumbers $150 an hour for labor, it is unacceptable for them to need to make THREE trips to the store, especially when each trip required 2 or 3 plumbers to go. After I realized the plumbers were not actually going to fix the problem, I paid and sent them home. Then I realized that they left black smears on the wall and carpet in my house and that the final seal they put on my pump tank is actually the wrong color (I suspect they ran out of black and used clear instead which does not look nearly as good as the black did the first time they put the lid on). I also found a tool in my yard and a mark their trucks left on my driveway. During the recent winter storm, I had pipes freeze. I then realized that the plumbers also incorrectly put the cover on my crawlspace, therefore not creating a good seal and protection for the pipes. I can't help but wonder if that was a contributing factor to frozen pipes. I also discovered another tool, a dirty tarp, and several used gloves in the crawl space. The plumbers were able to get to my house fast and seemed to want to save me as much money as possible. However, they did not completely fix the problem and left my house with new problems once they left.

We had our disposal clog on January 4th and then the sinks would not drain, so we can not use our diswasher or laundry. We called Roto-Rooter on Sunday morning and they scheduled to come out Monday. Due to the inclement weather on Monday, they rescheduled to Tuesday the 7th. We had had several phone conversations with their office during this time. Their truck came out around 9:45 am and phoned us and said they could not come in unless our driveway was clear. It had snow at the end of the drive where the plow had gone. The tech never left his truck and said it was 14 inches of snow there. My husband offered to get the snowblower out quickly to clear the end of the drive. We were told we would have to call and reschedule. It took my husband 8-10 minutes to clear the end of the drive...which would have been great for him to wait on. We have since cancelled our appointment and have found another company to help with our problem.

We are always happy with them and they are the first people we call. We've never had a problem with them. They are always prompt and very good to work with. We consider the price a good value. We are not necessarily the lowest price people. If the price is reasonable and they do a good job, we want to support them. We will absolutely continue to use them.

We called on Christmas fearing a huge holiday mark-up. Floyd arrived in just a few hours. He accessed the job site and, fearing the easy path might cause more damage; he determined conditions necessitated a Plan-B. Plan-B required removal of the washer and dryer to access the main clean-out pipe instead of the easier to reach one. He also had to remove the basement door to get the equipment inside. He removed the clog, reinstalled the washer and dryer but had to give up rehanging the door. Floyd then scheduled someone to return with a sewer-cam to show them and us the "root" cause of our problem. This camera inspection was included in the service call charge. Although the camera showed big problems which ended up costing us a lot more money, I'm glad they had it because it took all of the guess work out of the decision. We were able to precede with confidence that the additional work work was necessary.

Called on Christmas with a bad clog. They snaked the sewer from the inside on the holiday; even had to move the washer & dryer to access the clean-out. Returned the next day with a sewer-cam to diagnose the extent of root infiltration and tile degradation (90 year old sewer tile). Camera showed a bad problem and gave us confidence that the expense was indeed necessary. They gave us several stepped options with independent estimates for each. The work-crew showed up at promised time the next morning to dig up and replace the old sewer, install an external clean-out and perform a pipe-patch. The pipe-patch prevented having to excavate our concrete porch and decorative brick porch wall. This option was expensive but well explained and worth it. They couldn't finish by dark so they had to leave the trench open for a required city inspection the next Monday. They secured the area as best as possible with warning tape and even returned once over the weekend in response to a possible sidewalk cave-in. The financing they offered had three payment options to meet our circumstances. Yes, we would have rather used the money as a large down payment on a new car but one has to flush and shower. Although not happy with the situation; I must say that if you have to do it, these guys are a great pick!

They came out the morning of Thanksgiving!!! Fixed my clogged drain in record time and didn't charge any more for the holiday!

The technician was easy going and very responsive. He took care of my main problem, the clogged kitchen sink. He also gave me pointers regarding the grease build up in my pipes and recommended a product that could be used. The technician then used the auger on my only bathroom toilet to see if he could get it to flush, and the auger did not solve the problem. I was not charged because the problem was not solved. The technician did tell me of some other reasons for my toilet not flushing, which was very helpful and useful for in the future. The technician was nice and polite. The service took about one and a half hour for the same day appointment. I would use this provider again.

Dave was very professional and went the extra mile (or 2) to make sure the problem was completely taken care of with the one call. I was told up front the approximate cost. He cleaned up the area where he worked and wore protective shoe covers while in the house. I was also provided with a preventative measure of copper sulfate to start a scheduled maintenance plan to the sewer line to avoid this problem in the future. I don't think there is any room for improvement is the service I was provided because it was a total success.

It was great. I called about 3:00 on a Saturday, and they dispatcher said that the technician(Gary) would be here by 5:30. About 5:15, the technician called to say he'd be late. He arrive at 6:00, and promptly took care of the service. He was gone by 7:00.

My experience with Roto Rooter was very good. They identified where the smell was coming from, and they repaired the leak around the toilet. They put smoke into the pipe and it came out where the leak was and showed us how bad the leak was. I was very impressed with that and it showed how good Roto Rooter was.

The supplier was responsive and solved the problem with extreme urgency. i would used them again and recommend them to others.
