Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

He arrived right on time, very professional and courteous. He located what was causing the leak and We were able to fix the problem. Thankfully, it was not a big problem. Ron Webster was wonderful !!!

Things went all right with them. We used a coupon from Angie's List of $250 and I think there was another $250 on top of that, it was really expensive. The overall job with them went pretty well. They were pretty expensive. Regarding price, I was not impressed. Regarding quality, it was good quality. Regarding responsiveness, they were out right away.

The water supply serving the entire house was compromised and needed to be restored. As a solution to the problem, water lines to the hot water heater must first be restored. My renter contacted Roto-Rooter 1-800-438-7686. A technician #2402 Thomas arrived September 12, 2013 and assesses the situation. He went and got parts(some pipe and elbows). He billed me $360.00 labor and $160.20 parts and $11.21 tax. Still no water, but I was invoiced $561.41 invoice number 168-17275806. Mr. Thomas decided there must be a break in the water line between the meter and the house. Mr. Thomas wanted to dig up the front yard and replace the water line from the meter to the house, proposal #168-17276733 $3000.00 by Louis Kersey #2898, September 13, 2013, Not an option! In the meantime a supervise from, Rotor-Rooter arrived and pointed out the water lines to the hot water heater that his technician had just installed were not up to code. These pipes were then properly installed! After telling Mr. Kersey excavating the front yard must be reevaluated, a determination was made that all the distribution piping in the crawl space had been stolen and had to be replaced. It is important to note at this point out that water meter readings indicate there was a small leak between the meter and the shut off valve in the crawl space for several months.Proposal #168-17276733 September 16, 2013 @$4,500.00. We now have had water for 3 months. February 2014 we saw a water quadruple usage from January, from 2200 cubic feet to 8800 cubic feet. I decided I did not want to give Roto-Rooter another opportunity to take advantage of me. B&W was called and they determined the leak came from a pipe that had rotted under the house Roto ?Rooter had covered the pipe with the hole instead of digging back the earth to expose good pipe.

Roto-Rooter called the morning of the service to tell us that Jeff would be calling when he was 30-40 mins away. He came in a timely fashion, explained everything that would need to be done and got to work. After just a few minutes, he let me come upstairs to see that the drain was cleared, and to tell me what he did. He also suggested that we purchase some routine maintenance enzyme cleaner without being pushy about it. He also informed me that there was a six-month guarantee on the service, which is nice.

He was great.....very professional. Unfortunately, could not repair the kitchen problem as it was a leaky garbage disposal.

The estimate given was $650 over other comparable estimates given to replace a water heater. I purchased the $250 plumbing labor for $79 voucher. The $250 discount on plumbing labor would still not bring the price down enough to make the job affordable. I would still be at $1200 to replace the water heater. Other estimates I received were in the $800- $850 range and that was with some additional additional work. I was hoping to use their service but could not afford it. Very disappointed with the pricing. I could have saved them and me time by having the company give me the estimate over the phone. It looks to me like they have a standard estimate to do the job.

We contacted another service provider first via their online appointment request for a same day appointment. After 2 hours and no confirmation, I called the company. It was a Sunday and their automated answering service said that they were open Sundays but often closed for family time. While I respect that they take family time, they need to post on their website when they are closed. Next we did an online appointment request through the Roto Rooter website. Within 20 minutes we had a call from a scheduler and a technician was out within the hour. Ryan 3062 was our tech. He was extremely courteous, clean, efficient, quick, and friendly.

Called Roto-Rooter to fix problem with drain in basement, it backed up and flooded the floor each time I did laundry. I had attempted to correct this problem with other providers previously, and the services they rendered were not satisfactory. I purchased a deal on Angie's List for $250.00 service for $79.00. I did not mention this to Roto-Rooter when I called to make the appointment. The two plumbers arrived in a timely manner. The trainee came in first to do the diagnostics, then the trainer came in. He discussed the trainee's assessment and corrected his diagnosis of the problem. The trainer was professional and explained clearly to me what the problem was. 1. There was no clean out valve in the plumbing, it had apparently been removed by a previous plumber. 2. There needed to be a clean out valve put in the line and the drain needed to be snaked from that point. Pictures were drawn and clear explanations were given. It was at this point I mentioned I am a member of Angie's List, and that I had purchased the discount deal. They said that they were taught to be especially good to Angie's List members. I had not mentioned it previously to see whether I could discern a difference in their demeanor and treatment. There was none. I was pleased that the professionalism had been shown prior to mentioning Angie's List The plumbers left to obtain the required equipment to do the job. There was a delay in their return due to having witnessed an accident and they stayed to give statements to the police. (I was not concerned about the delay because they were doing the right thing by giving statements to the police) When they returned the promptly completed the required work and cleaned up the mess created by the snaking of the drain. I was instructed on how to treat the drain monthly to help prevent future problems of this type. I obtained the Roto-Rooter drain cleaner to do the preventive maintenance. The total cost to me, including the purchase of the discount, was approximately $500.00. I was satisfied and would call them again and recommend them to others.

The gentleman came into our hous,e and said we needed to have our septic tank pumped. He hadn't touched anything or looked at anything. The guy talked to me like I was ignorant. Like I have no aptitude for anything DIY. We did not hire him.

The workers came and evaluated what I wanted done. They made suggestions and told me of different options. We had to go to a hardware store and get parts. They met me there and selected the parts. That store did not have all the necessary parts so they went to their supplier and got the remaining parts. They met me back at the house and installed both items. Then explaned to me how the operated and the different settings on the water softener. They were very effecient and knowledgable. I would definitely recomment them in the future.

Two different workers came, one for the toilet drain and one for the water heater. First guy was on time and very professional. Stated he was unable to address our plumbing issue for the water heater but scheduled for a different worker to come later that day. Second worker was a little late, was unable to diagnose the issue with our water heater due to lack of knowledge on the particular brand (Kenmore). Both were polite and would have given A's all around if the second issue was fixed.

Tech arrived wearing booties. I explained the clog and gave 3 options on how to deal with it. Me and this clog go back a long way. I had Big Deal coupon for $79 worth $250. He gave me a free estimate. I thought $250 would cover freeing a drain clog. It didn't. The estimate was $299. I agreed. Ryan was friendly, professional and an asset to the company. He laid a tarp in the kitchen and rolled in a rooter with wheel booties. He proceeded to rout the line from under the kitchen sink. He took the time to be sure the job was done. The service came with a 6 mos. warranty against reclogging. Update: The next day I found a Mr Quik $99 drain clear coupon which includes a free camera inspection and double the warranty to a year. I called and there were no hidden charges.

Horrible. Roto Rooter came out and asked me if I had the Angie's list coupon. They offered me a price of $500 when Lowes said install would be $199. The man was very rude. It was not a full install. My home already had a water softner installed before so the plumbing was intact. All he had to do was connect 2 pipes from the water softner to the wall connections that were already there. I did my research and it wouldn't have taken him more than an hour to install and I am not paying $500 for an hour worth of work. I told him that would not work. He went out to his vehicle after he knew I wasn't buying his rip off and came back with a price of $250 plus parts along with the $79 I already paid with Angie's list. Why would I pay over $320 for something that Lowe's would do for $199. To make things worse the man poured out his coffee at the end of my drive. Just disgusted.

Called roto-rooter at 3:45pm on a Saturday and they were able to come out within an hour of my call and didn't charge extra for Saturday service. Did a rebuild of the toilet in about 1.5 hours for $375, I used a $75 big deal for $250 of work so total cost was $125 + $79 for the deal. Couldn't of asked for better or more prompt service, roto rooter is now my new plumber.

Very happy with the time and price would use them again

People who answer the phone there are fantastic. Very professional and make the company look good. However, the plumber came to our home to fix our flooding toilet. Gave estimate for $3,000 and fixed the toilet. 4 days later the toilet was flooding again. Called them back and they sent someone out. 2 different plumbers ended up coming out b/c of the confusion of the work we needed done. Our service work was marked incorrectly on there tickets and they wanted to charge us two separate $400 charges. I don't want them in my home again.

Everything went well. They were prompt for the appointment. Scheduling went well and there was no issues with making an appointment. They did what the deal stated.

The drain from my washing machine was backing up and overflowing onto the basement floor. Called Roto-Rooter in the late morning and they were able to send a service tech within a couple of hours to check the drain problem. They called three times to update me on the appointment time and kept me very well informed when the tech would arrive. (I think they did this because they were trying to work my appointment into the schedule) The service tech Gary arrived and he was very thorough in determining the problem drain was the only problem. He was very polite, courteous and worked efficiently. I asked him to be very careful to not soil the carpet when he took the machine down and up the stairs (some other company soiled the carpet before) and he said that he would be very careful. He put the disposable booties on the machine wheels and kept the carpet clean. How clever and inventive! The carpet is still clean. And the drain in clear now. A pleasant experience and I will call Roto-Rooter again.

No complaints although it did seem the repairperson took his time to complete the job, possibly because I had already purchased a set number of hours of labor. Still, I'm satisfied with the job that was done.

Firstly, the service was expensive. They were called to clear a clogged toilet and right away said they had to pull off the toilet to get to the clog and that the cost was going to be around $400. They cleared the toilet and even at the caution of the lead plumber, still left scratches throughout the toilet bowl. Two days later, the toilet clogged again and they came out to clear it...again. A Quality Control person came out and was questioning why they pulled the toilet and did not go through the clean-out that was readily available. This person had a few questions about the work that was done and when I showed him the scratches they left in the toilet, he was going back to see what they could do about that for us. That was the last we have seen or heard from Roto-Rooter. High price, questionable quality of work and poor follow-up. A disappointing engagement - would caution against using them based upon our experience.

technician inspect water shut off valve and informed me that it was in good working order. the plumber had to leave to obtain the correct part to fix shower faucet leak. He returned in a timely fashion and completed the repair, however; the next morning I received a surprise when I discovered the hot / cold rotation on the faucet handle had been reversed. I called and had the plumber come back out to correct the mistake. They agreed to come out and fix the issue the next day.

Scheduling was a nightmare - it is obvious to me that my time is not as valuable as that of rotor rooter. After the initial visit - I was told I needed a new disposal - so I got my own and made an appointment to have the technician come back the next day - scheduling told me that I would be the first appointment the technician would have - as he was not working the morning - after waiting 2 hours without a call - I called to reschedule. Again I was told I would be the first stop - again waited and waited. Called to reschedule - was given a two-hour window - they called to say the tech would be there within the half hour - an hour and a half later they showed up. Both tech's were very polite - I do not blame them. I called to voice my complaint of time issues with Rotor- Rooter - twice and was told someone would return my call - and as of this writing I have not heard back from anyone at Rotor-Rooter - so the $300 plus $100 that I paid was not worth the hours that I spent waiting and the complete lack of the management to talk to a customer. I would hope Rotor - Rooter is more respectful of their employees.

Purchased deal from Angie's list for $250. worth of services. Scheduling went great, call morning of service went well, plumber did not arrive during the appointed time. I called and they informed me he was on his way, he arrived late. He used a rate chart to calculate the service fee, $329.00. Well I had already spent the money with Angie to buy the coupon ($250) which I thought would be ample to cover the cost, but since I was already into them with the coupon, I had them do the install. The new fixtures look and work great, he did a good job on them. However while jostling around under the sink we now had some leaks in the drains. Again with the rate charts and another $191.00 to replace two seals in the PVC pipe connections to stop the leaking. He was here a total of 2 hours and 25 minutes for a total charge of $520.20 or $208.00 per hour. What I would have done different: - Called Roto Rooter first, before buying the coupon to get the cost estimate for the install. - Checked with some other plumbers on their price for the install - Checked with some handyman services to compare prices.

They had come out and while they were doing the work we purchased the Big Deal. They really did a nice job! The Big Deal was $75 and they applied $250 towards the rest. It was around $350 in total. I believe we saved around $350 with the Big Deal.
