Purchased $250 of plumbing work for $79 from this vendor as I knew I needed a new valve. When the contractor gave me the first estimate, it was for $439 just to do a simple replacement of a silcock valve. I told the guy that was way to expensive for such a simple repair and that I would decline the work. The contractor told me to give him a chance to talk to his boss and proceded to do so. He came back with a much more reasonable estimate of $299 for parts and labor. Thus after the $250 credit and the intial $79 investment, I only need to pay an additional $44. I was quite upset at first with the way Roto-Rooter came at me with such an inflated estimate, but I will recommend them based on the fact that they did negotiate the price and the work was done in a very timely manner and appears to have been done with professional results. Buyers should just be cautious not to take the first price they give if it seems inflated.

They showed up around 12pm for a 9:45 - 10:45 window, not a big deal. Uniformed, professional demeanor; good. Took one look at the problem (leaking at the base of the water heater) and simply read cost to install new water heater from a paper similar to existing as around $1,600 or around $650 for labor to install one provided by me. Thanked them for their time and the free estimate. Went to Lowe's and got an energy efficient water heater, 9-year warranty (better than the one quotes in terms of features and warranty) with installation next day for $677. Their quote was 2.5 times higher than what I ended up getting. Summary: shower up late, high prices, but at least the estimate was free.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the provider was able to send someone to my house the day I called to schedule, even though it was already late in the day. The service man arrived at about 8pm. He was very friendly and professional, and did the work very quickly. I'm pleased with the quality of the work.

It went very well. They called about 30 minutes before their arrival, they showed up within their window of time. The guys were very professional, polite and were sure to clean up afterwards. They explained what they were going to do and when done reviewed what they did, plus showed how to work the new handle.

I purchased the $250 labor for $79 from Angie's list. The plumber arrive around 10:00 and left a little after 11:00. He gave me an estimate of $440 to replace a piece of copper piping with a valve to turn off the house water supply. After I told him about the $79 "deal", he reduced the estimate by $250. I ended up paying $272.00 for a small piece of copper piping, a valve and about an hour's worth of labor. I am changing my review of this contractor because the provider voluntarily called me to make this right, which says a lot for the company. They sent me a check to make the charges equitable.

We felt the price was ridiculous, even after the coupon. They originally quoted us $400+ to install 2 new shower fixtures (labor only). We decided to only do 1 of them due to cost.

I bought the deal on Angie's List for $79 for $250 of plumbing services. My family and I were leaving in a few days for two months to go out of state, and I wanted to take care of a couple of things before we left. Roto-Rooter was great and sent out a plumber that day. The plumber arrived, and I showed him my areas of concern to see which could be addressed within the $250. I showed him the main water shut-off valve to the house--a gate valve that I knew didn't shut off the water completely. I wanted to get it replaced with a ball valve. He showed me the shut-off valve from the street, so he told me as long as I had access to that, it wouldn't be a problem--not high priority, and it was going to cost me over $300. The second area I showed him was the hose bib on the west side of our hose. It was not secure in the wall, and shot shot water whenever I attached a hose to it and turned it on. We don't use that one very much, but having it available would be nice. He didn't see an easy way to access it from the inside--required moving our washer/dryer, admittedly a tight fit in our laundry room, and cutting into the drywall. Estimate was again over $300, and wasn't a high priority item for me. The third area I showed him was the shut-off valve to the hose bib on the north side of our house. This shut-off valve was located underneath our kitchen sink. I told him we noticed a slow drip to it when we moved into the house one year ago, so we've just left it off. He turned it on and turned the hose bib on outside, and said he didn't see a problem, so no work needed to be done on it. He estimated around $300 for that as well. So, at the end of his visit, we ended up not using the coupon. He suggested I save it for something that would be under the $250 value. I thanked him and he was on his way. What I didn't notice at the time was that he did not turn the shut-off valve underneath the kitchen sink back to the closed position. I shut off the water at the meter like he instructed me to a few days later, and we left on our trip. Fast forward 2 months when we return. There are signs of dried water on the kitchen floor, a moldy smell to the house, and mold on the carpet/baseboards/furniture/toys on the opposite side of the same wall as the kitchen sink. I look all over to find out what could have happened--shut the main water supply off (no, I didn't flush the remaining water out) so wondering how this could have happened. I look under the sink, and notice that the previously mentioned valve was in the open position. End result: mold remediation and reconstruction and damaged property that will cost around $12K when all is done. I don't have any proof that this is what happened since the plumber actually didn't perform a service for me. My homeowner's insurance adjuster also said this would be difficult to prove, so I haven't contacted them. I may contact them to see if they would help cover my deductible, but I won't be having a plumber from Roto-Rooter back to my house, even with my coupon.

I NEVER GOT A RETURN PHONE CALL. I called in Saturday night (July 19th 2014) to some lady that acted like she did not care, I left my info and told her I needed emergency service and I never got a call back. So I called Benjamin Franklin and they were out on Sunday. I just don't understand how people stay in business with that kind of service. Here it is July 22nd and I never heard anything. She repeated back my number, how hard is it to call back.

This was a deal where a $79 coupon was good for $250 worth of labor. Contractor showed up on time. Immediately stated that what's typically a 30 minute job of snaking the drain was a flat fee of $295. Since that's a ridiculous fee I told him up front that I'd never use them again but to go ahead on this job because of the coupon. After 2 hours with no luck he ended up having to call in another guy with a motorized snake. The cord wasn't long enough so after a trip to Lowes they finished 5 hours after the first guy showed up. Their $295 flat fee ended up being a bad deal for them, and they didn't charge anything above the $79 already paid. I appreciated that the contractors did what it took to get the job done.

My technician Craig (number 2231) was excellent. He was very friendly and was able to get the job done quickly and cleanly. He had to run out and buy the part and it took him longer to go and buy the part then actually replacing the shut off valve. He knew his stuff! He arrived right on time and I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

I purchase a $79.00/$150.00 plumbing service offer June 19, 2014. A repair person came to my house June 23rd and requested an additional $150.00 to repair my tub faucet. He also indicated that he would submit a service order outlining the additional cost, which I never received. Meaning my repair work is $400.00. I have a second opinion offer of $125.00 and another for $225.00 to repair faucet. In other word your serviceman only was interested if he could repair at the $79.00 value.

On both days, the technicians worked continuously and explained each process of the step. The technician drew out a diagram on paper to show the layout of the pipes and explained the decision making process to perform the work necessary. The technicians were very professional and pleasant.
Description of Work: On the first day, the provider performed cleaning on drains for Kitchen Sink, Shower, Bath sink, toilet and Laundry. The drains were still not draining properly for the kitchen sink and the shower in the bath. On the second day, the galvanized pipes were cut out for the laundry, toilet, and shower and replaced with PVC pipes. After replacing the pipes, the Kitchen sink and shower still did not drain properly. The technician discovered the pipe from the toilet was extended into the entry for the main pipe therefore, causing improper drainage from all the pipes. The technician cut 3" excess off, installed hub to PVC adapter and reconnected the main pipe to flange. 2 gallons of enzymes were included in the price.

Roto rooter was the ONLY company I could get to come out on the same day to address the water noise I was hearing in the crawl space... But I am SO GLAD they were the company we worked with :-) The man who came out that afternoon/evening was super friendly and personable. We had some good laughs as he spent 4-5 hours with me!! We used an Angie's list coupon which made it WELL worth the price! Another man came the next day to show me the video feed of where the pipe was broken and he wrote up a quote for only $2500 to replace it! I was expecting this to be CRAZY expensive to fix, but considering the importance of a sewer line, we thought $2500 was very reasonable. They were conscientious of our landscaping and did everything they could to ensure they didn't damage our yard. We will ABSOLUTELY call them again for any plumbing needs!!
Description of Work: First cleared the sewer line of tree roots then came back and replaced a section of sewer line that was cracked (hence the root issue).

tMy wife called them late in the afternoon to see if they could replace a broken outdoor faucet. They sent someone right out. Matt (#2402) arrive when he was scheduled, assessed the work, gave us a complete estimate and full description of the work to be done. After we agreed to the price, he ran to get a part (didn't have one on his truck), came back, and started to work. Matt cut out the old faucet, installed new plex piping with an indoor shutoff valve which we didn't have, and then installed the new faucet. He had to open the hole in the joist slightly to make room, but was very careful not to take more material out than was needed. The new faucet was completely finished off and cemented into place to prevent leakage back into the house. He even noticed that the water line in the basement was just hanging loose without support, so he came back with two wood blocks to put in as support. We turned the water back on, there were no leaks, and he then cleaned up and presented the invoice. In the process he mentioned that there was an Angie's List Big Deal which would save us over $200. He waited patiently while we bought the deal, refigured the price and we paid the bill This was a frustrating situation and Matt (#2402) did a very professional job with great focus on his customer. Well done and thank you!!!

I was told they would arrive between 10a and noon. They did not arrive until after 1:30p. The offer stated specifically the deal would be good for fixing leaking faucets which is what I needed. They told me they charge $215 an hour which is almost the entire amount of the deal and that it would take them two hours to fix two leaky shower faucets. I feel the cost per hour is ridiculously high, they should have been able to at least fix one of my shower faucets under the deal and that this type of behavior is what gives a bad name to the Big Deal offers. I know it is a way of getting business, however it is also a way of attracting potential life long customers. When you arrive to only say you can do absolutely nothing unless the customer pays more than the deal it is evident the intention was a bait and switch. I am disappointed, would not recommend this company or use their services in the future. I intend to let the my entire social network know about my experience, as well.

I tried to replace old washing machine hoses. One would not come off the valve. I contacted the office to verify if their Big Deal ($79 for $250) would cover the labor cost to replace the valves, 4 total. Additionally, I asked if I could provide the valves to change from full multi turn valves to 1/4 turn. Each line had a backup shut off valve. I was placed on hold while the lady verified with someone. After a few minutes, she confirmed that it would cover the replacements and that I could provide my own valves. I concluded my conversation and hung up. I purchased the Big Deal and contacted the company at the same number. A different lady answered my call. As with the previous lady, she confirmed a plumber could be sent within the hour. I asked her if she needed the confirmation number from the Big Deal purchase. She said no, that that information was automatically transfered to their system. The plumber arrived on time, looked at the valve change out and informed me that only one per side was needed. I told him I would like all four replaced and that the office had said it would not be a problem. After a few minutes, I agreed to just 2. He then told me that we needed to discuss payment. I replied that the office said it was covered and automatically transfered. He them showed me a pricing list showing $393.00 just for the 2 valves and the little bit of drywall under the valves that needed to be remove to access the pipe would be additional. I didn't see the price for that part of the job. I contacted the office. A lady denied that anyone in the office would state the Big Deal would cove the entire job. That it would require being looked at prior to any price being provided. She further added the Big Deal took $250 off the price of the entire price. I have no problem accepting this except my first conversation. I've used other Big Deal after asking if it would cover a job. I've had yes and no as a reply. This was a waste of time and money. Basically, they have a plumber arrive to quote a price far in exceeding what was verbally verified was covered by the Big Deal. I have no doubt the pricing sheet is valid for the service. Had I been told it may cover it and additional charges would be likely, I would have continued shopping
