Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Toilet drain was unclogged. Clogged by tissue paper. Service was at least twice what another "A" rated plumber on Angie's List would charge. After drain was fixed & plumbing OK tried to sell me on $5500 job--to clean out drain pipe connected to municipal drain pipe. Without informing me added a $60 charge for what is worthless Pipe Shield (see reviews on internet). which I thought was free. I should have inspected invoice in more detail. My fault! All together charge for unclogging pipe (clogger by tissue paper) was $620. Very unsatisfied by business practices...avoid this company or at least get another estimate from a "real" plumber.

His services were absolutely horrible. He didn't put the water heater on a platform to keep it one or two inches off the ground like I asked him. He almost endangered me in some way because the water heater I had was a gas and on top of the water heater you have this platform that you have to bolt back on to get the gas out of the basement. Well I found it on the floor and I didn't think much about it because I didn't know that much about gas and at that time that's what they do.

It was okay, but it was too expensive. I had to actually have another plumber come out and finish up what they started. I'm pretty sure they broke one of the pipes because it had been fine before and i didn't have a problem with the pipes. It was a plastic pipe and then when I used the sink it had this big hole in it and he had been working under the sink. So I would never use Roto-Rooter again. I called Roto-Rooter and they came back to do the sink and then they said, "It wasn't us." and they charged me some more money to fix what they broke or what the guy before then had broken. They came really late and I called earlier then. They were professional.

It was fine. It was just average. They came right out.

It took several tries with the motorized snake in order to reach far enough to finally get to the obstruction. The area was very tight and uncomfortable for Jeff to work around, but he stayed with it until it was cleared. Afterwards he did a great job of cleaning up the area. Very much appreciated that. One other plumber called was not able to clear the obstruction.

Our main drain line to septic tank plugged suddenly, backing up into downstairs toilet and preventing use of any facilities. Roto-rooter responded quickly; came that afternoon. They had to remove toilet to get to the plug, unplugged the problem and restored everything. The technician was professional, took every precaution to be clean and orderly, and completed the work in a timely fashion. This sort of quick service is expensive, and homeowner does not have any negotiating leverage.

When I called in for assistance I told the call rep I had a sewer line problem and couldn't use our downstairs toilet. I also told her I have a sick son that needed to use the downstairs toilet since he was unable to use the stairs to get to the other toilet. She stated they could have a person to our house within the hour. Service rep arrived within the time-frame I was given when I called in. He verified the problem and got the drain cleaned out in a timely manner. Service rep was very polite and helpful.

I was very happy with service. They went out of their way to fix this big issue that someone else had quoted as a much higher quote, by trying and successfully using the older fixtures. This was for a rental house, so we were very happy to save the hundreds of dollars that was saved. They were professional and helpful.

Very polite technician and very good service. I have used them once before and was not disappointed this time.

In addition to repairing the line, they sent a crew of restoration folks over who immediately cleaned up the basement where raw sewage was pouring in. Courteous, professional and competent!

I bought the big deal from Roto Rooter. $75 worth of work for $25. I only needed the flappers replaced on my toilets, so I thought I would get this done with the big deal. Well the technician Chang showed up and he was a very nice young man. He made sure to put booties on before entering the house. I told him what I needed done, he checked out all three toilets and then came back to me with a price of $207.00. I said, You do know I bought the Big Deal right. I said $207 is too much to replace three flappers (which I provided), I was still willing to get it done if they take the $75 off that $207. He said no he couldnt do that. I said that's what I bought the deal for so why not. He called his manager Ryan and explained to him what was going on. Ryan asked to speak to me and he told me that the price is already discounted, so I could not use the big deal. I said that doesnt make any sense. He said if you go to a store and something is on sale, you can't use a coupon. (what?) I said actually yes you can. He then says, just use it on another visit. I said Oh trust there won't be another visit. I looked at my big deal again and saw absolutely no reason my $75 could not be applied to this project. Ryan then said he would subtract the $75 from the total, but he was very irritated about it. He then said you have no warranty on your materials because we didn't provide them. I said ok fine. I gave the phone back to Chang and he spoke to him some more. After all the work was completed I got the invoice and it had at the bottom "no warranty work." So I asked the technician dont you warrant the work you do? He said no there's no warranty. I then said I understand no warranty on material because I provided that, but what about the work you did. He said no. So needless to say I was not very happy about the whole process with Roto Rooter. I should have just had my husband do the job when he got some time to do it. I will not be using Roto Rooter again. I would have hated it if I were really in a bind and needed them to repair something because it seems like they would totally take advantage of someone. I feel bad for the technician because he seems like a nice young man, but he has to do what he's told.

That was too much for me, so he left. Leak was not fixed.

Upon returning home on a Sunday from an out-of-town wedding, I was understandably annoyed to find the floor of the laundry room soaked with water. Sometime over the weekend, my water heater (located in the adjacent utility room) had failed. I called the number on the side of the water heater and Roto Rooter was at my home in just a few hours. They made sure the leaking had stopped and explained my options for replacing the water heater -- which they did, quickly and efficiently, the next morning. They arrived on time, hauled away the old unit and had my new heater installed in no time. I was so satisfied with their service, I called them recently to help complete the installation of a new washing machine. This time I used their website to schedule the appointment, which was quick and easy. They had already sent me a coupon for a discount on a service call -- a bonus! Again, their technician (Justin this time) arrived on time the next day to accomplish what the washing machine installers said they couldn't do. With his channel lock pliers and a lot of elbow grease, Justin was quickly able to remove the old hot water line from the tap and install the new stainless steel connectors (hot AND cold) I had purchased when I bought the washer. Best of all, because this was such a simple service call, Justin waived the call fee and told me to keep the discount coupon for use another time. Another bonus! He just charged me for the labor, which made me a happy Roto Rooter customer a second time this fall. The best part about finding a good service provider is knowing that whenever I have a plumbing problem, I no longer have to spend a lot of time doing any research on Angie's List. I just have to call Roto Rooter!

Two technicians from Roto-Rooter, Pat and Charles, arrived on time and cleared roots from a drainpipe connected to our kitchen sink. They offered several well-informed recommendations for future maintenance, and completed the job no more than forty-five minutes after their arrival. My husband was very pleased with their work, and our sink is draining properly again!

Robert the Roto-Rooter technician came out within an hour of my initial call on a Saturday. He surveyed the house to confirm that we didn't have an external clean out and then followed me into the basement to look into the partial crawlspace to determine possible options. We decided on pulling the toilet closest to the main drain line and after some work (toilet seemed to be bolted and glued), he was able to remove the 40 year old toilet and access the drain. He was very upfront that snaking via the toilet would be a bit more expensive which was nice and definitely worth the extra money as it was a struggle to get everything prepped (extra 30-40min thanks to the small space and old toilet). Before leaving, he waited around while all the faucets in the house were running to confirm we were clog free for the immediate future. I know the roots will grow back, but at least the first floor toilet bowls no longer fill when the upstairs shower is used. He also recommended having an outside clean out installed (now code, but not in 1971?) to allow for easier access and the use of larger blades to clear obstructions in the larger main drain pipe, and offered to schedule a camera inspections to get a better idea of where the main drain line runs in the yard and also the condition of the line.

After snaking drain from the clean-out, going backward under basement floor and pulling out roots, it was determined that it would be necessary to install clean-out in the main sewer down pipe from upstairs allowing larger diameter snake to do complete job.

Robert was very professional and thorough. He explained what needed to be done in detail and explained why. Robert made sure we understood the cost before he proceeded. He offered other services but did not pressure us. If I need plumbing service again, I will request Robert.

Came out and diagnosed a faulty water heater. Given different options and decided to have the water heater replaced the following day. The technician Jim Cummins was very punctual and professional. He did a good job replacing the unit and cleaning up after he completed the job. Although the quality of the work was an "A", I gave the section an "NA" since I have no previous experience with the brand of water heater that was installed.

My technician, Pejman, introduced himself professionally, asked if I would prefer him to ear booties in my house, listened carefully to my lengthy description of the problem, rephrased/summarized my drain issue. He was spot on. He quietly, carefully and briskly solved the issue, then cleaned up, offered a maintenance product for the hair in my drain, gave me a discount on it, then made sure I had the best phone # for any follow up questions, locally. Cleaned up thoroughly prior to departure. Top notch!

Technicians did a great job. They were very professional from start to finish. We they entered the house the placed on shoe covers.

The Tech came out right away, found the problem explained what needed to be done to fixed the problem and gave me options for the repairs that fit my budget.

Fixed something that was not the issue the first time around. When leaving I asked are you sure you don't need to check elsewhere? He then ended up fixing the actual problem after he had me pay for an issue that was not an issue.

Technician did not provide estimate, did not do work on first trip, said he had to come back. Talked my nephew into paying outrageous price (I was away and left nephew my credit card.) When I called to complain first I got a run around, then they said they would back out the charge for the first trip. Two weeks later no credit to charge card.

All the workers were very professional and hard working. They were very organized in what needed to be done and in what order. They completed the restoration of the basement to get rid of carpet or any other items that had been contaminated from the sewer water. They also relieved the pressure on the pipe so another person could come in and investigate the clogged line. They cleared out the grime in the lines and also cleared two obstructions they found using the camera in the line. Overall we were very satisfied with their work ethic and professionalism.

Jeff J. arrived exactly when the dispatcher said he would arrive (within 2 hours of my call). I did not expect to get service so soon on Labor Day weekend, but he came right out and took care of the problem. We had a blocked drain that was backing up into the basement sink. Jeff looked it over, brought in his equipment, cleared it out, and cleaned up within one hour. He was very careful to not leave a mess in the house. Jeff was very polite and professional. He offered additional services but didn't press the sale. We are very satisfied with the work performed and will definitely use Roto-Rooter Indianapolis again.
