He went around outside and walked around. He came inside. My wife was busy with our children. He asked her to sign something so that he could get onto the roof to check it out. She didn?t have time to read it. He said it was to get us out of liability in case he fell off of the roof. It ended being a contract to do the work. They sued us and we ended up having to pay $2000. The owner called and cussed me and my wife out over the phone. He threatened us saying he would have our house if we did not go with them.
Description of Work: They gave us an estimate for a roof. My wife was home and I was not.

Our contract with CPM roofers stated the contract was valid for 3 months. Over 9 months no work was done at all, but CPM insists the contract is still in force because they continued to talk to State Farm. We totally disagree. During this time the skylights leaked water into our home. We put down a $1,000 deposit, $500 for our deductible and $500 they wanted to repair our chimney flashing. We have since found through our State Farm agent and an independent roofer that the chimney flashing does not really need to be repaired. CPM admits this but refuses to give us our money back. In summary, the CPM contract expired after 3 months, no work at all has been done and they collected $500 for a chimney repair that was unnecessary. We want our money back and we refuse to have any other dealings with CPM period. We have hired someone else to do the repairs, and it will be done in July. Update: They never spoke with us directly and never gave us back the money for the work that was not done and the contract was expired. The contract was 3 months and during 9 months, they never did any work.
Description of Work: Installing skylights, replacing shingles and chimney repair was supposed to have been done, but nothing was done.

This client had is file on hold due to a supplement we were working on for this file with the insurance company. The insurance company did not pay for the repairs properly and did not pay for all of the skylight to be replaced. Per the homeowners request we successfully negotiated with the insurance company for some time and got everything paid for properly by the insurance company. Once we were successful we informed the homeowner of our success and tried to schedule the work with the homeowner. At that time he decided to have someone else do the work we were under contract for. We explained to the client he was under contract and he also signed a notice of cancellation that explained his rights. We would have replaced the current skylights and shingle repairs one the first amount that was approved but it would not have been the full skylights on the roof. Per is instructions we had to get all of them paid for before we could do the job. There is a cancellation fee for work not performed as we did as we were instructed to do by the homeowner. We have several weeks of negotiations with the insurance company and we do not work for free. We did as instructed and were successful in our efforts for the customer but the customer did not want to honor the contract we were under. The $1000.00 went towards the cancellation which there is still a balance owed on. Our company has decided to waive the balance of the cancellation fee under the contract we have with the client to close this file. Our contract have been reviewed by the attorney general, DOI and our corporate council and we are in the laws of the state of Indiana and the client is in full breach of there contract. We will not peruse legal action if the client agrees to drop this complaint. If not we will peruse legal action for all monies still owed under our contract with the client. Joe Radcliff-President

CPM Construction made my experience with filing a claim easy. A representative for CPM came out and met with my insurance adjuster to make sure that all the damages to my home where assessed properly. They worked for me as the homeowner and made sure my property was restored back to prestine condition. Their company is not only dependable and get the work done in a timely manner, but they are professional and accurate. They replaced my roof and gutters without any extra money out of my pocket, except my $500 deductible. I recommend CPM for any of your property needs, they are an A+ company in my book.

My house sat there for 3 months before starting the repairs. The wood they purchased to replace on the roof they didn't water treat. I also asked them numerous of times to write a contract, but still haven't. They also didn't clean up after themselves. They still some have things to do such as insulation and chimney repair. Their excuses are that the places that they order supplies through went out of business so they have to order the supplies from another business. They were supposed to clean the refrigerator and freezer. They wiped it out but didn't they didn't sanitize it.
Description of Work: Repairing home due to storm damage. They were repairing the side of my home and part of my roof blew off, chimney repair and water damage inside.

IT IS UNFORTUNATE AND REGRETTABLE THAT THIS COMPLAINT HAS BEEN FILED. THIS JOB IS A TORNADO RESTORATION THAT OCCURRED IN 2008. IT WENT SEVERAL WEEKS TO CONCLUDE THE INSPECTION PROCESS. A TOTAL OF THREE TRIPS TO THE SITE TO CORRECT THE INSURANCE COMPANY'S SCOPE AND HAVING TO WORK WITH THERE SCHEDULE TO GET THIS ACCOMPLISHED. WE HAD SEVERAL MEETINGS ON PRICING DUE TO IMPROPER INSURANCE ESTIMATES AND PRICE GUIDES USED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. ONCE THE SCOPE OF WORK AND PRICING WAS APPROVED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY WE THAN COULD START THE WORK. I UNDERSTAND THE STRESS IN DEALING WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANIES BUT AT TIMES THAT STRESS IS PASSED TO US. WE DO NOT HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE ANY INSURANCE COMPANY JUST CUT A CHECK NOR CAN WE AGREE TO DO IT FOR WHAT THEY HAVE ALLOWED IF THERE ESTIMATE IS INCORRECT. THIS DOES TAKE TIME AND WE WISH IT WOULD GO FASTER AND WILL CONTINUE TO WORK EVERY DAY INSURING WE GET IT DONE AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. ONCE WE STARTED THE WORK WENT FAST AND SMOOTH. THE ONLY THING WE HAVE LEFT TO DO IS THE FIREPLACE PIPING WHICH IS NOT SOLD ANY MORE. IT IS A DISCONTINUED PRODUCT AND WE SEARCHED THE US TO FIND WHAT WE NEEDED. IT WILL BE INSTALLED WITH IN 2 WEEKS DUE TO THE WEATHER. OUR GOAL IS TO ALWAYS PROVIDE THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND QUALITY OF WORK TO ALL OF OUR CUSTOMERS. WE NEVER LIKE DISSATISFACTION AND WILL ALWAYS TRY TO RESOLVE ALL COMPLAINTS THAT ARE MADE. THIS HOME WAS A LARGE LOSS CLAIM THAT AFFECTED THE ENTIRE ROOFING SYSTEM, FULL REPLACEMENT OF SIDING, FASCIA, SOFFIT, GUTTERS, BRICK REPAIRS, NEW GARAGE DOOR, ENTIRE INTERIOR PAINT, FULL GUT AND REMODEL OF TWO BEDROOMS, FULL BATHROOM AND HALLWAY, HVAC REPLACEMENTS, ELECTRICAL REPAIRS, FIREPLACE REBUILD AND REPAIRS AND YES THE TWO FRIDGES WERE CLEANED WITH BLEACH. IN FACT BEFORE THE HOMEOWNER MOVED BACK IN TO THE HOME AND ENTIRE CLEAN OF THE RESIDENCE WAS PERFORMED TO INSURE THEY WERE HAPPY. I THANK YOU FOR THE TIME AND UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE IS ONLY SO MUCH WE CAN DO TO MAKE THE PROCESS GO FAST. ONCE WE CAN START THE BUILD, WE GET IT DONE. IT’S THE TECHNICAL DEALINGS WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANIES THAT TAKE TIME.

CPM (and owner Joe Radcliff) IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVERY EXPERIENCED!!! If you have any doubt in your mind if CPM should do any of your work please do not walk but RUN away from this company. Joe will tell you differently and say not to worry about this complaint against CPM, he said the exact same thing to us when we had reservations. Buyer beware. Joe will tell you everything you want to hear upfront. He is nice enough at the beginning but will attempt to bully you into signing a contract. He becomes belligerent and threatens to sue if you do not sign a contract with him. We are still waiting to talk to an attorney from the insurance company in regards to reroofing our condominium complex. Joe has threaten price increase even though he buys his product in bulk and locks in prices. After repeated attempting to have our association sign a contract and our repeated refusal to do so he says he now already has a contract. Our property manager has repeated asked for any contract he may have and he refused to produce any. He has shouted at myself on the phone and hung up on me. This guy is deficient in judgment and good sense. The association will be filing complaints with the Secretary of State's office and the BBB. He should not be in business in Indiana with the way he tries to pound the customer into submission. If Joe and CPM do not get what they want they attempt to sue you. Joe believes that if he sues enough people he will make some money. I guess if he sues five people and only one pans out he is doing ok, by his standards. Shame on Angie's list for even letting him associate his name with theirs. No matter what is written below to rebut these statements this is an honest and accurate account of dealings with Joe Radcliff and CPM construction. Anyone that wishes to contact me please feel free to do so.
Description of Work: Joe, the owner, and CPM negotiated with our insurance company to get work done from a hail damage claim for our condo association.

SOME PEOPLE USE THIS SITE AND SITES LIKE THESE THAT ARE DESIGNED TO INFORM THE PUBLIC ON TRUE FACTS REGARDING COMPANIES THROUGH OUT AMERICA. NONE OF MY COMMERCIAL CONTRACTS FILED THIS REPORT. WE ARE CURRENTLY REPRESENTING SEVEN PROPERTIES IN DEALINGS WITH THE SCOPE AND PRICE NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANIES. WE HAVE ENGINEERING FIRMS WORKING WITH US IN PROVING HAIL HAS HIT THE PROPERTIES. PEOPLE WHOSE DAMAGES AND HAVE BEEN DENIED. OUR LEGAL TEAMS ARE WORKING DILIGENTLY TO OVER COME ALL HURTLES THROWN IN OUR WAY IN WORKING FOR OUR CLIENTS. THERE IS ONLY ONE PROPERTY IN FISHERS WHO I WILL NOT MENTION SINCE THEY WOULD NOT LIST THERE PROPERTY NAME IN THE COMPLAINT. THIS IS A PROPERTY THAT WE WERE WORKING ON IN APPRAISAL. APPRAISAL IS WHEN THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAS DENIED THE PROPERTY TWICE AND WE ARE ASKED TO DEFEND OUR SCOPE AND PRICE TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY. ENGINEERING IS DONE TO INSURE THE DAMAGES ARE AT THE PROPERTY. LAWYERS WORK ON THE LEGAL ASPECTS OF THE PROCESS. WE REACHED AND AGREEMENT THAT THE PROPERTY WAS HAPPY WITH AND AFTER THE BOARD MEETING THE NEXT DAY WE SETTLED THE APPRAISAL PER OUR CLIENTS REQUEST. ONCE THE CHECK WAS CUT BOY DID THE STORY CHANGE TO HOW THE CONTRACT WE HAD DIDN’T MEAN ANYTHING AND THE HOURS AND MONEY WE SPENT WERE NOT THERE CONCERN. LAWYERS WERE BROUGHT IN AND THE PROPERTY PAID FOR OUR SERVICES SINCE THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THERE CONTRACT. THERE IS A THING CALLED SLANDER, MY LAWYER LOVES THIS STUFF. WE BELIEVE IN DOING OUR JOB RIGHT, ETHICALLY AND MORALLY. WE WILL STRIVE EACH AND EVERY DAY TO DO THE BEST WE CAN AND IMPROVE IN ALL AREAS OF THE BUSINESS WE ARE IN. WE WILL CONTINUE TO FIGHT FOR PEOPLES RIGHTS NO MATTER WHAT IS THROWN IN OUR WAY AS THE TRUTH WILL ALWAYS COME OUT. I THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO RESPOND TO THIS COMPLAINT AND ALWAYS SEEK THE TRUTH. IT’S NOT ALWAYS WHAT YOU READ OR SEE ON TV.

They were professional and did a good job. CPM is taking a long time to finish the job so I am holding the money until the job is done.
Description of Work: I had hail damage on my roof. I also had some interior damage. Insurance didnt want to pay, CPM also does insurance problems. CPM was able to prove that it was due to storm damage. They tore off the existing roof and cleaned up everything.

This was your quintessential contractor nightmare. First off they are complete liars. Namely, Eric Dieckman (the field supervisor and sales rep) and Joe Radcliffe the owner) they orally promised a 3 week time line. Having the remodeling project start on 5/7/2007 and not end until we signed the certificate of completion on 10/12/2007 shows there complete default on this oral agreement. Through out this remodeling process, Joe and Eric never delivered on their commitments. On May 31, 2007 Eric promised us that though they already failed to meet the 3 week completion agreement, they would have the project finished within 30 more days (which would have been June 30, 2007). When we had our meeting on June 5, 2007, in wish case we discussed there complete lack of quality, Joe personally concluded that his subcontractor's Judd and Josh were delivering a "D" quality on the wood trim. He hired yet another subcontractor that then dropped the quality from a "D" to an "F" before he personally promised to redo and finish the trim himself. Again he completely defaulted on this commitment. he personally worked on the trim one day before bringing back Judd and Josh. When we brought it to his attention that this was unacceptable, he assured us that they would finish the trim under his strict supervision. Again, this never happened. Obviously, we had to take off work many times through out this process to babysit his subcontractor's, that as a professional contractor should have been his responsibility. His subs even subcontracted and never showed up to watch there workers, or were only at our house 10 minutes. We had hoped that on December 20, 2007 he would re figure the original quote to reflect his broken oral agreement of completing the job in 3 weeks and lack or quality. Unfortunately, he wasn't willing to compensate us in any way. He threatened to take us to court and put a lein on our house if he wasn't payed all at once (which by the way during the whole process a payment plan was never discussed). Finally we agreed to a more than fair payment plan, then he had the nerve to call us once he received his final check and tell us that we owed him $1900 more, all because his incompetent office assistant didn't have her figures correct. What really takes the cake-he failed to ever obtain a permit on our roof (that I later found out when I called the planning department). In our case, because the roof was completely rebuilt including rafters that of course is needed. So there is a chance that they didn't redo the roof to code, and we may have problems when we go to sell our house. Which of course if that happens I will be suing his pants off. avoid them like the plague. there knowledge to work the insurance business isn't worth the headache they will create in your life. companies like them are the reason Angie's list exists.
Description of Work: New roof (including redecking main roof and 8 new rafters); New roof on detached garage; New gutters on main house and detached garage adding 4 new skylights; Siding the house and garage with vinyl and cement board; Adding 1x12 wood base board around house; Adding 1x12 wood freeze around house; Adding 1x6 wood rake board around house adding 1x4 wood corners on house; Painting the cement board, new trim and existing brick around porch; Installing 2 doors (purchased separately); Installing 4 windows (purchased separately) replacing old attic vents with new attic vents.

AT CPM CONSTRUCTION WE DO BELIEVE IN INTEGRITY AND QUALITY. IT WOULD BE NICE FOR PEOPLE TO GIVE THERE REAL NAMES IN THIS PROCEDURE AND ADDRESS SO PEOPLE CAN LOOK AT WHAT THEY ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT. THIS JOB WE FOUGHT HARD WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO GET THE ENTIRE ROOF, SIDING, GUTTERS, INTERIOR REPAIRS AND HAD TO FIGHT TWO MORE MONTHS TO GET THE DETACHED GARAGE ADDED TO THE JOB BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. WE REPLACED SEVERAL RAFTERS ON A HISTORIC HOME OVER 100 YEARS OLD. RE DECKED, ADDED SKYLIGHT AND IT IS A BEAUTIFUL JOB IF I MUST SAY SO MYSELF. WE REPLACED ALL THE SIDING WHICH WAS A SPECIAL ORDER SMOOTH VINYL SIDING, INSTALLED WOOD TRIM ON ALL WINDOWS, OUTSIDE CORNERS, TRIM BOARD AND BAND BOARS. YES, I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE FINISHED PRODUCT OF THE TRIM AND TOLD THE PROPERTY OWNER ABOUT THE ISSUE. THEY DIDN’T SEE WHAT I SAW AND I THOUGHT WERE THANKFUL. MY SECOND CREW FINISHED IT OFF AND PAINTING WAS COMPLETED. WE DIDN’T DO ANY INTERIOR WORK AS THE HOMEOWNER WANTED TO DO IT THEMSELVES. ONCE IT CAME TIME TO CUT THE FINAL CHECK AFTER ALL FINAL PUNCH LISTS WERE COMPLETED THEN CAME I WANT TO MAKE A DEAL. I EXPLAINED WE HAD A CONTRACT ON PRICE ALREADY DONE. WE HANDLED ALL CONCERNS AND COMPLAINTS AND THEY DIDN’T WANT TO PAY US. I DID TELL THEM I WOULD PLACE A LIEN AND GET MY LAWYERS INVOLVED DUE TO RATIONAL CONVERSATION WAS GETTING KNOW WHERE. ONCE I BROUGHT IT TO THERE ATTENTION I WILL NOT ARGUE NOR GIVE HARD EARNED MONEY AWAY AND I WILL LET THE LAWYERS AND JUDGE MAKE THE DECISION THEY WANTED TO PAY. NOT BECAUSE I FORCED THEM BUT BECAUSE THEY OWED IT. THERE HAS BEEN NO WARRANTY WORK TO DATE AND NO OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM THIS CLIENT. WE PUT ON ALL PROJECTS A FIVE YEAR WORKMANSHIP WARRANTY AND WILL STAND BEHIND IT AS WE STAND BEHIND OUT CLIENTS.

They said they could not do an estimate with out me signing a form, which seemed to be some one sided contract. When I found out that they were not a member of the BBB as their website states, I told them I wanted to terminate any services from them, they said I owed them 20% of the insurance claim per the "contract" I signed. In short they said they were going to sue me for a breach of contract which it is not. I have informed the attorney general.

MY NAME IS JOE RADCLIFF WITH CPM CONSTRUCTION. THIS COMPLAINT IS A FALSE. THE MEMBER HAD A FREE INSPECTION PREFORMED ON THE HOME. WE EXPLAINED OUR CONTRACT THAT STATES: THIS GIVES US THE POWER TO ACT AS YOUR AGENT BUT NOT AS YOUR LEGAL REPRESENTATION WHICH MEANS WE CAN DEFEND YOU IN THE CLAIM BUT CAN NOT MAKE LEGAL DECISIONS FOR YOU. (2) IT GIVES POWER TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND OUR CPM TO NEGOTIATE THE CLAIM TO GET THE PROPER SCOPE AND PRICE TO PERFORM THE JOB. ONCE THAT IS COMPLETED IT GIVES US THE RIGHT TO DO THE WORK PER THE INSURANCE COMPANY SCOPE AND PRICE WITH NO ADDITIONAL COST BUT THE DEDUCTIBLE. WE SUCCESSFULLY NEGOTIATED THE CLAIM OUT WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY; IN-FACT HAD A YARD SIGN ON THE PROPERTY FOR OVER A MONTH DURING NEGOTIATIONS. ONCE THE CHECK ARRIVED TO THE HOMEOWNER HE HAD SHOPPED AND GOT A CHEAPER PRICE TO DO THE JOB EVEN THOUGH HE WAS ALREADY UNDER CONTRACT TO HAVE THE WORK PREFORMED. I INFORMED THE MEMBER THAT THERE WAS A 20% CANCELLATION FEE FOR OUR SERVICES IN NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THIS CLAIM HAS BEEN TURNED OVER TO CORPORATE LAWYER FOR LEGAL ACTION IN RECOVERY OF THE CANCELLATION CLAUSE OF THE CONTRACT. ON ALL OUR CONTRACTS THERE IS A 3 DAY RECESSION CLAUSE THAT IS EXPLAINED TO ALL PROPERTY OWNERS. OUR COMPANY IS BASED ON HONESTY AND RELIABILITY. OUR CUSTOMERS ARE IMPORTANT TO US, THAT’S THE REASON WE ARGUE IN THERE DEFENSE TO MAKE SURE THERE CLAIMS ARE PAID OUT PROPERLY.

I would not recommend this company; they will rip off your insurance and you can get the work done at a much more reasonable price elsewhere. They aren't very good at returning telephone calls (we left several messages over several days)and the owner Joe was not very professional and THREATENED TO TAKE MY HOME. No work was ever done, and we owe them nothing.
Description of Work: In Dec. I was referred to Eric to see if we needed a new roof from hail. It took over a month before he was able to have the initial meeting, when I called my insurance co. they said I was outside of my 6 mo. window to file a claim, and was denied. I called Eric for help dealing with ins. co., but he failed to return my many calls. I dealt with the ins. and wrote a letter explaining the delay in the initial meeting, and the insurance company said they would give me a chance. After the snow, Eric came out and met the ins. adjuster at my home. Eric spoke briefly with the adjuster then left, saying he would return in 45 min. to talk to adjuster. It was several HOURS later that he finally came back. In short, we have chosen another company due to price, and poor service, but now are being told that we will be sued for breach of contract(that was signed under false pretenses)and THREATENED BY CPM THAT THEY WILL PUT A LIEN AGAINST OUR HOME. BEWARE of this company!

I DO APOLOGIZE FOR MY COMPANY ACTIONS. I HAVE NOT HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TALK WITH YOU AND I HAVE HAD TO GET RID OF SOME BAD APPLES IN THE COMPANY. I HAVE READ YOUR COMPLAINT AND UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION AT HAND. YES, I DO BELIEVE IN MY CONTRACT AND ITS RULE BUT CPM MUST PERFORM ITS END OF THE BARGAIN IF I FOR YOU TO HONOR YOURS. IT IS EVIDENT THROUGH DISCUSSIONS WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND THE FIELD REP THAT WE DID NOT DO THE PROPER INSPECTION WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND SHOULD NOT BE BOTHERING YOU BUT APOLOGIZING FOR MY MEN’S ACTIONS. I HAVE NOT FOUND OUT WHO IMPERSONATED MYSELF BUT I HOPE HE IS GONE FROM THE CLEANING WE HAVE DONE IN PERSONNEL. I WILL SEND OUT THE CANCELLATION LETTERS TO YOU RELEASING THE CONTRACT AND APOLOGIZING ONCE AGAIN FOR THE ACTIONS OF MY COMPANY. I WILL CONTINUE TO DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO IMPROVE MY COMPANY AND PROVIDE THE CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT IS EXPECTED BY OUR NEIGHBORS AND CLIENTS.
