 + -1 moreThis experience has soured us on Allisonvile Nursery.
Description of Work: I originally purchased 2 Maple trees in 2009 with and extended warranty on both trees. Last year, one of the trees completely died, and I had the dead tree removed at my own expense. The remaining tree did not die, put it was starting to show some distress at the top. I contacted Allisonville Nursery on April 14, 2012, and they informed me that they would honor the full replacement of the dead tree, and instructed me to take pictures of the hole from the dead tree, and the remaining tree, which I did. On April 20, 2012 I brought them the pictures, and myself and their Manager went out to the yard and picked our a robust identical replacement tree for the one that had died. The tree was tagged, and I was promised delivery, when they cleared their delivery backlog. They also informed me if the other tree died, they would honor that warranty as well. After repeated follow ups with their office regarding delivery, I requested that the owner Jeff, contact me which he did. He assured me that they were working h****** delivery their schedule, and that the best that they could estimate was the first week or so in May. He also assured me that I would be pleased with the replacement tree. Yesterday May 10, 2012 however, their installation Supervisor showed up with a scraggly almost dead looking tree, that beard no resemblance to the tree that I and their yard Manager had picked out. That tree was obviously switched out, and replaced with this unacceptable substitute. I refused to allow them to install this tree, and requested to speak to the yard Manager that I originally dealt with. He informed me that they no longer had any of the particular type of tree that I originally purchased, and that they would have to find something comparable. No new delivery date was offered. At this point I'm 100% put off with their customer service, or lack thereof. This was a major landscaping purchase on our part, but the service after the sale has been horrendous.

 + 0 moreThe gentleman that help me search for the right trees for each place I needed to plant them in at my home, knew a great deal about trees and their root systems, why I should choose one tree over another one, help in picking a good tree out once I decided which ones I wanted. When we went back with a truck to pick up the trees, the helpers made sure a tarp was down in our truck bed, balled the trees and tied the branches very carefully, and gave us very good planting and watering instructions.
Description of Work: Needed help with replacing 2 trees in our yard. Needed recommendations and help in selecting the correct trees as well as care and other information on each of the 2 trees.

 + -1 moreI purchased two shrubs at the end of April. They were very young and immature shrubs. I took them home and planted them according to their provide instructions. Even though I did everything I could they failed to thrive and eventually died. Their standard warranty on plants that the home owner plants themselves is a 50% refund for a year. I spoke to my sister who is a horticulturist and it was her opinion that the plants had issues before I bought them. I took them back to the nursery and attempted to get a 100% refund on the shrubs because of her opinion. The nursery staff disagreed with her opinion, but eventually did offer me a 100% refund. I took it in the form of a gift card and then I immediately went out and worked with one of their staff to select a different and more mature shrub. Ended up spending more than what the refund was. I was willing to accept the 50% refund, but felt that they did the right thing in this situation. My wife was already a shopper there and I will return as well.
Description of Work: Replaced a couple of dead shrubs.

I went to them and walked around and looked at different bushes and trees. They told me how the install service works. I would recommend them because the guy was very informative and they were very well stocked.

 + -1 moreI made the appointment on Monday 5/10 and there were two appointments available for Sunday 5/16. I took the 11:30 appointment which started right at 11:30 and went right up to noon. I brought a plan view of my home and some photos of the exterior. Emily asked me which type of plants I preferred, what I wanted to avoid and what I definitely wanted - she then drew where the plants would go and labeled them so I would know what to buy and where to put it.

 + 0 moreWe drove directly home and unloaded. The much was so wet that it pooled off of the plastic onto multiple areas of the van. My neighbor and I were both surprised because she recently bought mulch somewhere else and had no problem hauling it home in the van. We spent an hour using towels and a shop vac to pull up the smelly water. I later learned that my neighbor rented a "rug doctor" since the smell was still strong after we used spray on carpet cleaner. I complained to the store owner and he said he would call back after he mulled it over. He never called. I called late the next morning to hear that he meant to call but it got busy. He said he didn't know what else they could have done. I told him he could keep the mulch dry or at least warn it will drench a vehicle. I said a 50% refund would be fair considering what we dealt with. He said he would talk to his comptroller who would not be in until Monday. He called Monday to let me know they would be offering 50% refund which I thought was fair.
Description of Work: Bought 30 bags of mulch which was loaded into our neighbor's van. Although the weather was dry, and had been dry for at least a week, we had them put plastic down before loading it.

 + -1 moreThe fountain was from a (supposedly) reputable company (Allisonville Nursery chooses to focus on their fountains). We chose a resin/concrete composite fountain for its (suppposedly) long-lasting qualities. Before the first season was over, we were noticing degradation of the fountain surface. Discoloration and/or wearing away of the fountain surfaces were observed. We notified Allisonville Nursery last fall of our issues, providing pictures of the issue, and have followed up multiple times.. We were told that we were "one of many" with the same complaint, and that our issues would be addressed after a January trade show discussion with the manufacturer. It is now February of the next year and we do not know if we will have any resolution of the issue. We have had no response to our recent email requesting a status update.

 + -1 moreWe purchased these in 2 different trips. The first trip, no one came to help us, but we were able to find the holly bushes of the correct variety and they were in terrific condition. The second trip someone helped us pick out the hydrangeas and load them in the car. We shopped several places for the hydrangeas and they had the nicest selection and comparable prices. We chose to plant them ourselves and they are doing well. I like Allisonville's stock and variety.

When I took it to the cashier, she told me the actual price was $36.00 and my cost would be $17.00. I showed her the $24.99 price tag but the cashier said it was marked with the wrong price tag. I was in a hurry and did not want to get into a debate so I expressed my disappointment, paid for the plant and left the store.
