Got a recommendation from a general contractor friend of mine who had used them in the past and was happy. Talked to someone there up front about the cost and said that the job would be $6 per sq ft to install, sand and finish on the high end. Nick Griffith comes out and does the quote. Quotes me about $8 per sq ft to install. I asked him could I get the price down to $6 per sq ft like the original guy said (talking about 500 sq ft here so only a few hundred dollars). He sent me a new quote at $6 per sq ft but the language says that I would have to provide the stain. Of course I balk and say, I quote: and quot;The price is closer to what we discussed originally but now in the quote you've got me providing the stain and sealer whereas you were providing it before. Makes it a lot more uncertain. I had heard very good things about your work but am starting to question the recommendation at this point.and quot; Nick tells me to take a hike and that he doesn't want my business. In my opinion, that tells me a lot about the company. If something as simple as that can cause them to tell me to take a hike, what if I had an actual problem with the work they had done? Sounds like they'd just tell me to take a hike. If that is how they treat their customers then I sure don't want any part of it.

I didn't use this Vendor I only got quotes from them. The were competitive with other vendors and the vendor used was not from Angie's List.

I was not happy with them at all. They were not good and they were not professional. They did not do what they stated they would do. It was obvious that they just did not want to do the job. One guy came out and did a quote and then the workers showed up and they had a different story about the floor. They were supposed to sand the floor and they did not sand the floor. They did not clean the floor, but they put something on top of it and then left. It was expensive and they showed up late. It was way over priced for what they did.

The installers were aware of resident's health issues and took special care to protect the house from dust. They walled-off rooms with plastic and kept most of the sawdust and debris on the outside of the house as they worked. Each night they took all the debris with them and there was no sign of their presence. They only had us move the light-weight things from the rooms as they progressed and they took care of the big items.

We had to match the old hardwood floor so we couldn't go with the factory finish.

Almost our entire main floor is wood so we had to vacate the house for 4 days. They moved our large furniture for us and came back to move the items back when we got home. There was little to no dust left from the job and they floors look fantastic! They came out to see how satisfied we were and to give it a final inspection. Great to work with!!

They provided good service earlier this year in refinishing and repairing my floors. I contacted them again in the fall for additional work. They never responded. I was shocked. I used a different vendor to complete the work. I do not dispute the qualtiy of their work. I just think the company is poorly run. If you need a contractor to deal with your floors, there are others on this site you can use. I do not recommnd Griffith. This software insists on puttig in a date for services performed. So, I put in January 2013 just so I could complete the review.

They refinished our 10 year old oak hardwood floors that came with our house. Before they started the project, they sanded an area and applied about 8 different colors of stain so we could pick. When they started staining, the color we picked was darker than we orginally wanted. We were on vacation at the time, and their refinisher called us to talk about it. After texting a couple of pictures back and forth, we choose a color. The floors looked great! Very pleased with the outcome. You can really see the grains in the wood now and it makes our kitchen look much richer and more custom. The only down-side is that our baseboards were really bungled up and there was stain on a good portion of them. I had to repaint them.

Contacted for an estimate on wood floor refinishing job in early 5/12.Nick Griffin responded promptly,completed the estimate and returned it on a timely basis.He also followed up with a phone call to see if we had questions.The cost estimate was high in relation to others and we decided to have someone else do the work.The estimate was performed in a very professional manner and I would contact them again in the future.

The work they performed was excellent. I was astounded at how good the floors looked after they were done. the dirt and the wear I had caused was gone, and the original character of the wood remaines. They did exactly what they said they would do, and they were great to work with throughout. I noticed one problem area after they completed their work. I called them, and they came out and fixed it the next day. I only had one little miss with some scheduling stuff, which was remedied quickly by thee boss man who made sure it was handled. This turned out to actually be a good thing in my mind -- a small, busy company with good people. I will definitely use them again in a few years when my floors need to be done again.

I contacted them to inspect the flooring of an antique home I'm buying to determine whether the original floors could be brought back to life or whether I would need new flooring. The downstairs has original pine flooring from the 1800s and is in really good shape. The two upstairs bedrooms are carpeted but I was fairly sure the original floors were underneath. I want to start by saying Mr. Griffith was very nice and his son who came to give the estimate was also a nice guy and very professional. My issue is that he inspected the upstairs bedrooms, which currently have carpeting and told me the original hardwoods were not underneath. Well, simply pulling the carpeting back shows that there are hardwoods there. One bedroom has a floor vent, and simply pulling the vent off and looking under the carpeting, shows that there are hardwoods there. Perhaps I should have spoken to the owner about this but I work with contractors for a living and this snafu made me question what type of quality I would get from that point on. Had the quote been competitive, perhaps I would have tried to discuss the matter further but it was significantly higher than the rest as well. There are a lot of positive reviews on this site pertaining to this company so perhaps this is an isolated incident but it took me 5 seconds to see there were hardwoods in those rooms...

The only problem I had was that they missed their target date for starting and finishing, but I wasn't moved in yet so everything ended up working out just fine. The finish on the floors looks really nice.

It was a big project. I was very impressed with the clean-up and there wasn't a lot of sand like I had in the past. Overall, it went very well. The floors look beautiful and they did a fantastic job.

Overall, things went very well. Appointment was made for estimate, and everything went well. Quote received on a timely basis, and test was scheduled and completed successfully. Date/time was set for job to be completed, but on original date, only 1 person showed up (two were required because of need to move 2 pieces of furniture), and we had to reschedule for a date a few days later. Second date everything went extremely well; workers were professional, work accomplished as promised, and we are very satisfied with results. We would definitely use them again in the future.

Floors look wonderful. This is the 2nd time we've worked with this company, very pleased. Job took 4 1/2 days. Their bid was $1,000 less than our other quote.

No estimate was received and no work was done.

Used Griffith 3 other times. This time was also great. All appointments were on time. Speedy process of getting quote. Started project less than 2 weeks after signing quote. There was a different crew for each piece of the project...i.e., 1 crew tore out the old tile and put down new hardwood. Different crew the next day for staining. Different crew for the poly. What was VERY NICE was that even if the 2nd crew had to re-work something from the 1st crew to make it right, they did it...on their own. I never heard anyone complain about the "other guys not doing X right" or complaining about spending extra time to do "Y". What a professional group of guys. And the end product is wonderful. I even asked the last crew to make a change to the trimwork and he did without any hesitation. I highly recommned them for any hardwood project.

They were great. They colored matched really good. They also had competitive pricing.

The installers showed up at the appointed time and removed the carpet and padding and prepared the floor. They relocated the stove and refrigerator and removed the commode. At the end of the second day the flooring had been installed. The flooring was cut to fit around and into door jambs and transition strips installed at all door openings. The kick space under the cabinets was covered with an edging that matched the flooring. The appliances were moved back and shoe molding installed on all baseboards. Before the installers left we were told how to care for the flooring and where we could obtain the necessary supplies.

They did a great job from start to finish. The floors look beautiful.

The experience was great. The floor was a natural finish on the oak, but it had a yellow, and it was faded with the sunlight. There were water stains on it. They sanded the floor. They have very good sanders. They took all the dust out. They put a light stain or wash on it, exactly the way we wanted. They did a double coat finish. They just did a marvelous job. They did it on all the three days, and it was a great experience. We stayed only one day out of the house during the process. The people that we worked with were very good and very thorough. They did exactly what they said they would do, and when they said, they would do. We will use them again. We have recommended them to our friends. It looks like the new floor.

It went really well. They were thorough, and they left the area as clean as they found it. The workmanship, material quality, and price were all very good, too. The only concern is that there are a few knicks in the base moulding and door trim, but that is minor compared to the overall job.
