 + 1 moreHis work was , as usual, excellent. Jim was here when he said he would be and did what he said he would do. This was the third summer we have had Jim do work for us. We are ready now for estimates for this year. Jim understands that we are on a fixed income and will not go in debt unless it is truely necessary. Therefore when he gives us an estimate, we may have to back off on some of the project. He understands. I hope he also knows that when the money arrives, we will call him back.
Description of Work: Jim painted part of our house (had panted the other part The year before). He added Insulation to our overhead. Placed all new insulation to the overhead of our garage. Also did some re-enforceing work to the overhead of our garage.

 + 0 moreWe have been very satisfied with Jim's work. He has been here when he said he would. He worked on his own schedule, however, never leaving us hanging. We fully intend to have more work done before winter (if the money gets here). We are very satisfied. We wish to say we are sorry that we did not write this sooner. Great job Jim.
Description of Work: Jim has painted our entire house (Ext.). The job started summer of 2009 (our choice). Jim scrapped the old paint off, put down a primer, then new paint. He also repaired any cracks or rotted places in the siding. Also, he replaced a sliding door on our back deck (having to do some major re-framing in the process), and a walk door into our garage (also needing framing work).

 + -1 moreJIM WAS VERY PLEASANT AND INFORMED ABOUT WHAT WAS NECESSARY TO REPLACE OUR VINYL WINDOWS WITH WOOD. I THINK HIS ESTIMATE MIGHT HAVE BEEN HIGH, BECAUSE HE IS MAINLY A CARPENTER/CABINETMAKER AND HAD TO BUY THE WINDOWS FROM ANOTHER DEALER - NOT DIRECT FROM A MANUFACTURER.
Description of Work: JIM VAN HORN CAME OUT TO MEASURE AND PROVIDE US WITH AN ESTIMATE FOR INSTALLING NEW WINDOWS (TEAR-OUT-REPLACEMENT OF 12 VINYL WINDOWS WITH WOOD). HE WAS VERY INFORMATIVE, BUT WE FELT HIS ESTIMATE (ALMOST $12,000 FOR AN ANDERSEN 200 SERIES WINDOW) WAS QUITE HIGH (EVEN THOUGH IT ALSO INCLUDED HIS REPLACING THE BASEBOARD IN OUR KITCHEN, AS WELL.)
