Jim did my inspection. He went over everything with me and answered many questions for me. I received an emailed report with everything he found which included photos. A couple of months after getting the house, I was still able to call him and ask questions and he stopped by to help me out with a stuck crawl space door. Here it is 9 months later and he is still willing to check on things for me and stop by to see if he missed something in his original inspection or if it's something that shouldn't be a concern. He backs up his inspections and is willing to help if he's able. Good employees = good company!

Rob Cahill performed the inspection. He was thorough, and made note of pertinent findings. All major concerns cited were valid and verified. To my knowledge, there were no excess or irrelevant concerns.

Arrived on time, and dressed in uniforms, jumpsuits and shoe covers to protect the home. Their van contained all the necessary equipment to do their work, and they went straight to it. The pair of inspectors worked inside and out for nearly 3.5 hours (7 man hours) doing a full the thorough inspection of the electric, hydro, gas and sewer / plumbing systems of the house. They also performed a radon test and a full termite inspection. I understood that a Radon gas test would normally cost about $150 by itself. They make no special warranty about their services, and follow ups would be an extra charge. Within 48 hours we received (.pdf) a report with photographs showing all areas of the house (within the limitations of their agreement), and clear consise recommendations for remediation. I thought that the service was costly but a reasonable value given the time involved and the personal time given to their communications with me.
Description of Work: National Inspection Service of Indiana, Inc. (NISI) performed a top to bottom and inside and outside inspection of the house we contracted to buy. They were prompt and professional and fully explained their services and fees.

With the help of the lawyer's letter I finally recieved a check for the amount of the plumbing service, minus the commodedamage.
Description of Work: An inspection was performed on a house I intended on buying at 4:00 on the afternoon stated. The inspector arrived with another man. They were looking throught the house when I arrived, listing their findings on apalm pilot. The inspectpr took me around to the items he had listed as "does not meet code". He turned on all the faucets, the dishwasher, and flushed the toilets. Tried the furnace, air conditioner, etc. (allutilities were on). But he never lit the pilot light to the water heater. The hot water was never checked. Needless to say, I took him to his word & the wording of the report, had the owner fix the list violations to the code. The water heater strapping was the only thing listed for plumbing problems, even though I had mentioned the leak in the second floor commode also. I bought the appliance insurance also. I bought the house, lived in it for a week before I had a plumber come in about the hot water problem. Hethen informed me that there had been water damage & the whole unit was rusted!! Since it was a prexisting condition, the insurance would not cover the cost of replacement. I then called the inspector, handed the phone to the plumber who informed him of his error in not finding the problem because he had not lit the pilot light. On the phone, the inspector agreed to pay for the water heater. After the water heater was put in, a leak from the upstairs commode cased a leak in the kitchen soffit. I called the plumbing company to fix the commode, which had never been set correctly- this was evident during the inspection because the commode slid when one sat down on it.The inspector refused to pay this bill, even though I had noted it when the report was being made. I have had a 2 month ordeal getting this man to pay the bill for the water heater. He received a bill from the plumbing company, but refused to pay it because it was 60.00 more than what the company had origninally estimated. He then told me that I would need to sign a contract release to him, then he would pay me the money. Needless to say, I did not trust this transaction. I went to 3 different lawyers with the intention of having them represent me by being a third party and by writng a letter asking him for the money to pay the bill. I went to three different lawyers only because each one told me in succession they had represented him for cases in the past already!
