I went to King's on Thursday, Jan 28th to purchase a stove and refrigerator for a rental property that we own. My daughter was moving back to town and we were going to let her live there. She had asked us if we could find them in black. Lowe's had them available at a good price with free delivery but would have to order. That is why I went to King's. A very nice young man named Sean waited on me and they did have the appliances in black. The stove was the same price as Lowe's and the fridge was a few dollars cheaper. I asked him about delivery and he said they charge $99! I explained that Lowe's was free and asked if they could match that. A manager was nearby so Sean asked him. The manager asked me if it was the same stove because he wanted to compare apples to apples. I had the stock numbers from Lowe's and it was the same so the manager said "Sure, in that case we can do that." A few minutes later as I was looking it over the manager told Sean that he was leaving. I told Sean that I needed to ask my husband and my daughter to confirm and that I would be back. I returned about an hour later, An older gentleman who looked and acted like he would really rather be someplace else asked if he could help me. I mentioned my visit with Sean and said I wanted to to puchase the ones I had looked at earlier. When I mentioned I had been told I could have free delivery, he said "Was Sean planning on delivering these himself?" I thought he was kidding! He asked me the manager's name who had said I could have free delivery. I never got his name. (I didn't know then I should have documented or recorded the whole conversation). He walked away to go ask someone and came back down and said Steve said "No, that we don't have enough on these entry level applicances to do that" I asked to speak to Steve. He took out his cell phone and dialed a number, spoke to someone then told me in a voice dripping with sarcasm "Well he said he would reallly LOVE to do that but he is very busy right now and he just can't come down." I asked when Sean might be back so he could back up my story and the guy told me that Sean was out delivering a chair IN HIS OWN TRUCK!!! What kind of policy is this? I would guess this young salesman isn't bonded or insured! and their letting him deliver furniture in his own vehicle?!?! We will NEVER go back into this place again!!
