I called Bill's Plumbing when I discovered water in my crawlspace. They came on 10/25/2017 and assured me that they find the source of the leak being my shower and they fixed it. Next day I discovered that the leak was still going on. They came back on 10/30/2017 and assured me that they won't charge me for the second visit, and that they further sealed the shower and the leak would be gone. Next day, the leak was still going on. On the third visit, on 11/6/2017, Curtis, the plumber, assured me that only the first visit will be billed and finally found and fixed the shower leak. During each of the three visits I helped Curtis with finding the leak by running the shower and showing him where the water in the crawlspace was accumulating. After the first visit I also called Bill's Plumbing office and expressed my dissatisfaction that the leak was not found and fixed the first time. I was assured that it will be dealt with promptly and I won't be charged for subsequent trips to fix this issue. When I received an invoice dated 12/26/2017, I was surprised to find that $375 of the $537.73 was billed for labor, covering all three trips. I found this to violate the assurances I received that only the first trip will be billed for labor. I called the office and was told that I misunderstood and that only a "service fee" for the second and third trips was waived. I feel that it is not honest to charge for multiple trips and labor, when the issue could have been easily identified and fixed in the first trip. The office manager refused to adjust the invoice and claimed that it takes three trips to find a fix a leak sometimes.

Response from Bill's Plumbing Service
Below is the copy and pasted response to this issue as mediated by the Better Business Bureau in January of 2018 We had not realized this complaint was also posted to Angie's list so our response on this forum was delayed. Bills Plumbing Response: The time line laid out in the complaint is correct, however Mr. **** was only billed for the first two trips and the second trip was treated as a continuation of the first so only a single service fee (trip charge) was billed. On 10-25-17 our company was called out to repair a toilet and find the cause of a leak from the hallway bathroom into the crawl space. Upon inspecting the issue we found that the tub overflow gasket was out of alignment and this caused water to drip into the crawl. We realigned the gasket and sealed it with silicone sealant. After having Mr.**** run water to test it the gasket was no longer leaking. On this trip we also caulked the tub valve face plate and spout. On 10-30-17 We returned because Mr. **** had found another leak at the tub. Upon inspection we determined the shoe of the trip was leaking as well as the gasket and that the entire tub trip (drain assembly) would need to be cut out and replaced. We cut out this assembly and replaced it with a new one and reconnected it to the drain lines. This is the end of what Mr. **** was charged for. We explained to him while the work was going on what had happened and what he would and wouldn't be charged for, though in light of this complaint, it seems there was some confusion over this. On 11-6-17 We were called out for another leak into the crawl space. On this trip we found the leak was from a separate area, the tub valve face plate higher up on the tub. We found that the old tub valve was not secured in the wall and the trim for the valve was not the correct trim. We gave Mr. **** the option of replacing the valve entirely or shimming it tight with wood shims and re-caulking it. He chose to re-caulk it. We did not charge Mr. **** for this trip. We had recaulked the face plate on the first trip out and had not realized it was moving in the wall. Mr. **** has since called in and paid this bill in full. (on 1-22-18) Customer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The explanation from Bill's Plumbing is not accurate. It makes it sound like there were three causes of the leak to the crawlspace. In reality, there was a single leak, the tub valve face plate, which was not detected on the first two trips. There was no leak from the tub overflow gasket or the tub trip, these were erroneously considered the source of the leak by the plumber during the first two visits. As I stated in my initial complaint, it took three trips to detect and find the leak, it was not the case of three separate leaks from the tub. Mr. ***** maintains that I was only billed for the first two trips, which is in contradiction with what I was told when I called the office. At that time I was told that I was billed for all the labor during those trips, only the "trip charge" was waived for the second and third trips. I did pay the entire bill so I won't be charged any extra fees due to delay, but this does not mean that I agree with the total amount billed and, as I stated in my original complaint, I am requesting an adjustment for the labor charges for the second and third trips. Bill's Plumbing Service, Inc. Response While we maintain the there was an issue with the tub trip as well as the face plate for the sake of customer relations and with the understanding that there was an obvious break down in communication somewhere along the line, we are willing to reduce the labor cost to reflect only overhauling the toilet on the first day 10-25-17 (this work is unrelated to the complaint) and replacing the tub trip assembly the second day 10-30-17. With no charge being applied for the portion of the first trip where we attempted to repair the tub trip assembly or the entirety of the third trip. This brings the labor down from $375 to $275.

I had a pipe break in the wall and everybody else went ahead and sent everybody else. They looked at it and said, and quot;Yeah, you need a plumber.and quot; and then they would disappear. They said, and quot;Make an appointment.and quot; For a burst pipe I can't make an appointment but Bill's Plumbing Service stayed and fixed it and they were very reasonable. They would not wait to help me. They cleaned up after themselves and not very many people do that.

We had some of the pipes under the house changed out, new pipes to and from the water heater and had a sump pump installed.
Description of Work: I was more impressed than I would have ever expected. I thought we needed more work done as I was told it did not need to be done, that the other issues I thought I had were really okay.
