 + 1 moreMy husband is very frustrated and I'm not happy but would have continued to assess over the 6m initially planned. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we'll stick with Smithville. We're going to have to talk to Comcast again and see what they can offer and if the price will be similar to what we had before.....move back. I would love to support a local provider but the services aren't as good, and they cost more! n't like the "bate/switch" approach that Comcast is known for but in some ways we've got the same problem regarding cost w/more complicated capability and limited info. We're going to comparative shop between the 2 services as I don't want to go thru assessing yet another new telecom provider.
Description of Work: We completed a new home build. Decided to try Smithville - after being frustrated w/Comcast pricing challenges. What we have not been happy with (2-3m of Smithville) is NOT telling us the home number we had (w/Comcast) could not be kept through Smithville. The TV services are no comparison to Comcast - difficult to use remote, descriptions poor related to movies comparitively. The numbers on the DVR clock are soooo small that w/out my glasses - I can't read it. They had difficulty establishing the wiring properly and had to come back more than once. One of the reasons we changed was I spent time with a CSR assessing what we needed. The estimated cost was going to be about the same as Comcast (w/more TVs!) about $150-160/mo for internet - home phone and TV. We didn't commit to a contract because wanted to assess them. If happy after 6m - would go w/2y commit. We only have 1 TV hooked up currently and since we started service. Recent bill was almost $200. Turned out there were errors in billing and a rate increase 3-6m before service began. I've tried to work all this out - but it comes to "why go with Smithville if they are providing lesser services and charging more for it....?????

 + 1 moreWe just get a monthly bill. Its the only local business that has all these services for us. I've had no contact with them for maintenance or anything like that.

 + 0 moreIt is the only telecommunication company that comes out this far. It is a rural telecom company that you do not have choices. It takes up about two or three counties but it's in the rural area. They do not have high speed internet. They respond very well.
