About us

Golden Rule Carpentry is a small, father - son , business doing carpentry and remodeling. We rarely use sub-contractors as we do all of the carpentry, painting, tile work, and drywall by ourselves. The Golden Rule is what we strive to live by..treating others as we would want to be treated. We work one job at a time. When your job is finished then we move on. We take no money up front. We will give a rough estimate on your project but the actual work will be based on time and materials. I am currently charging $25 per hour and my son charges $16 per hour. Fridays are always pay days. At the end of each week we will present a detailed bill for payment. There is no charge for estimates.

We do carpentry (framing,window and door installation,finish work and trim), all kinds of tile installation,drywall hanging and finishing,painting, hardwood flooring,minor electrical and plumbing (where a license is not required eg.the city or county does not require a building permit for your project).

Services we don't offer

We do not do room additions but will remodel existing rooms. We do not do roofing or guttering. We only do very small concrete jobs.

The name of the owner is Jim Deckard and I give him the highest ratings across the board. I had told him quite a while ago that I had a one-day job for him and he said that he would get back to me as soon as he had an opportunity. He called me but I was in North Carolina at the time and we may schedule the work soon.
Description of Work: Golden Rule Carpentry refinished a paneling job in our stairway. He had installed a new countertop and backsplash and an island top several years ago. He had also done a hardwood floor in our stairway and upstairs. He had done some remodeling in a bathroom too.
