We had a small pile of dirt that had brick and concrete mixed in with it and we wanted it hauled away and the ground leveled. I called Jones for an estimated and he came out very quickly and quoted me $210 for the job. I knew they had a senior discount of $15 off so I asked if I could get that and he said yes. So the price was going to be $195. He said he could do it that day if I wanted so I agreed to let him do it but told him I would not be home until later in the day. When I arrived home he had the pile on his truck and the ground was leveled off nicely. That was the good news. The bad news was that the pile had more concrete in it than he expected and the price would have to be more. I asked how much and he said it would now be $350. I told him there was no way I could afford that and if I had known that was going to be the price I would not have had it done. I told him he could off load some of it if he wanted, but I could not pay that much. He then asked what I could afford and I told him $250 so he agreed to take that and haul away what he had on the truck. While his work and responsiveness was very good and i will give him an A for that, i will have to rate him lower on price because i can't help but wonder if this was a classic case of bait and switch. I have no idea if $250 or even $350 was a fair price for what he hauled but the fact that I was quoted one thing and then charged a higher rate leaves me with an uneasy feeling. My thought is that he should know his business and if he quotes one thing then finds out that it is more involved then expected then that is on him...not me. If you decide to hire him, I'm sure he will do a good job, just make sure that he knows that you do not want the price to change when he's finished.

We bought a house in foreclosure, and it had a LOT of junk left behind. We hired Jones Junk Hauling to take it away. They also offered to bag and collect it, but my college kids were home, so I hired them to do it. It was nasty work, as was the hauling it off. I told them that there was already a large pile of junk behind the house, and that it was wet, and I wasn't sure what was there, but they said they would load everything and take it away. After we finished bagging everything from the house, I had to call Nick and let him know there was more there than what I initially thought. He said that was okay, and that if there was more than one trip required, that he would give me a discount. It took 3 trips, but they got everything. They cleaned up, too. They were on time, reasonably priced, polite, worked hard, even though some of it was really gross and grimy. I would definitely call Jones Junk Haulers again.
