Great salesman and sold us that he was a trustworthy and honest source to complete the job. Very cooperative and supportive until issues and conflicts began to occur. Quote: Changed several times with more costs to the customer. 32K became 40K quickly. His lack of understanding or remembering what was agreed too during the quote process was passed on to us as the customer. Work: Scheduling of work was sporadic and confusing. As the home owners we weren't sure when they were coming to work and what they had planned. Showed up with a bulldozer on day 1 only to drive onto our property and put two 2 feet deep divots in yard that ran the length of the house. Close to 100 feet. 100 feet by 24" times 2. When confronted about the damage done he said he would put some dirt down and grass seed. Well my yard was sodded. Huge conflict that resulted in us as the customers having to repair the damage he created. It would have been nice to be informed that a bulldozer would be coming on to the property. We thought the utmost care would be used and repairing the damage would be completed in the job. Each day after work done they left the worksite a mess. Plastic, bags, skids, wood pieces, every where. We did most of the clean up after them to keep the worksite as clean as possible. When we called Justin about our concerns he made us feel bad for saying anything to him. He did come out on a few occassions to clean up but at the third time we just quit calling him. We figured after the first and second incident that he would come and check on his crew. When we finally got to the concrete portion of the job. It was subcontracted out. Those contractors brought their 10 year old son to swim in the pool while they worked. I called Justin immediately as we were at work and told him what was going on. Could not get a hold of him. I was extremely upset that our pool was being used by contractors and all we got was a $500 dollar credit out of the deal. At this point we wanted to return the work done and start over. Justin apologized but it was not genuine and simply completely disgusted that a sub contractor employed by Blue Ocean Pools would feel that they could simply create an unsafe enviroment at our expense. What if the kid drowned? What if the kid got injured? Am I liable? Sickening to say the least. Pool was completed and now we WAIT and we WAIT and we WAIT on the fence to be installed. Days went by that we have a pool with water in it and no protection of that liability. No temporary fence was installed to keep kids or animals safe. We went 13 days to get a fence installed. Justin ordered the wrong parts. No stores locally had what we needed so they overnighted. The wrong part came in again. After the fence finally got installed HE DEMANDED final payment. Severe damage to yard well beyond the actual worksite plus we had a 14" gap from the ground to the bottom of the fence where Blue Ocean attempted to grade the dirt into place. When asked to fix the gap Justin said he is only responsible for a rough grade and that the final invoice is due. After looking through the contract--no where-- did it state a rough finish was completion. What about the damage to the yard? He agreed to dumping top soil on to the cheap fill dirt with literally large rocks everywhere. My wife and I decided to remove the rocks ourselves prior to top soil being placed. Three 55 gallon drums later the rocks were clear. I called Justin to inform him we are ready for top soil. He refused until final invoice was paid. I told him that when the work is complete to our satisfaction as the CUSTOMER that we would pay him no problem. Never heard from Justin again. 90% of the contract was paid so we only were able to hold back a small portion of money. $3500 later to fix the grade of the land and sod we were whole again. Completion of work was 4 weeks late per his contracted completion date. This guy went from the awesome and exciting salesman to something I cannot describe. He altered the contract several times to protect his business without our consent or signature. Luckily we had the original contract and documented everything along the way. We were able to get some of our money back after a long day with mediator and lawyers. Stay away from Blue Ocean Pools.
