Michiana Timber & Tree believes in the future of your property. Whether it is tree service in your yard or timber harvesting on your farm. Our family and locally owned company uses sustainable practices, so you can have a healthier trees in your yard, or make more profit over time, if you’re harvesting. We sell directly to lumber mills and our marketing brings in the maximum value on each tree. We are fully licensed, insured and bonded for timber management services in Shipshewana, IN and the surrounding 75 miles. We have had an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau since 2004. The owner is present at every job, so you can be assured your property and trees receive the best care possible. In 2001 we started cutting firewood to sell. In September of 2004 Slabach Logging was founded. We did selective timber harvesting for the bigger timber companies in our area, and also a few private timber owners who were local. In 2008 when the economy went into recession we started advertising to the timber owners. We found we could make more money for private timber owners by selling their timber on " sealed bid log sales. In 2011 we acquired a small band sawmill to help utilize the low end logs that were tough to sell on the log sales and also do custom milling. In 2014 we started with the tree service side of it to accommodate our existing customers with tree service needs. It just keeps growing now it's close to 75% of our business. In 2016 we sold our facility and relocated to Shipshewana, IN. At this time we're out sourcing all our mill work. Hopefully by the end of 2024 we can have our mill up and going again. In 2017 we changed our name to Michiana Timber Management. I grew up Amish in Middlebury, IN, and always liked to cut and split firewood for our personal use when a boy. I have found if there is something you like to do, and you're willing to learn and willing to keep at it you can succeed.

Yes, you will want to confirm that the tree removal company you hire is insured before proceeding with the job. Tree removal can be dangerous work, and it's important to verify that the company carries the proper insurance to cover any onsite accidents or damage.

On average, removing a tree costs around $750, but you can expect to pay between $200 to $2,000. Factors that impact the overall cost include the number of trees you’re having removed, their height, the diameter of their trunks, permits needed, and the tree’s accessibility. You’ll pay more if the tree is in a hard-to-reach area or dangerous location, like close to power lines.

The cost varies depending on a number of factors, including the size of the tree, location, accessibility, whether or not the stump is also being removed, and other environmental factors.
Answered by Elan Flores at Flores Artscape in Los Angeles, CA on 01/07/25
Each tree is different, and costs can vary widely based on factors including tree size, hardness of wood, difficulties caused by location of the tree and proximity to nearby structures and objects, inherent risk involved in specific removals (e.g. rotten sections of trunk), requirements of dealing with municipalities and local governments for tree removal permits, and the methods employed by the tree worker to remove your tree.
A single tree could cost as low as $100 to remove or $10,000 dollars or more depending on these factors. It is also important to keep in mind that many companies have a minimum price to come out and do work or even give quotes.

If there are no online reviews, ask them for referrals. If a tree removal company is reputable, you won't be their first client. It's perfectly acceptable to ask for references on your initial call, and if a removal company won't provide referrals, it's time to move on.
Find out what equipment they use. Some types of tree removal equipment are better than others, and a removal company might need special tools to get your particular job done. On your first conversation with a prospective removal company, make sure that you clearly express the nature of the job you want accomplished and receive assurances that the company has the proper equipment.
Consider all of the costs. Always ask for an estimate up-front. Inquire about the job itself and any potential hidden fees that you might not be aware of.

To have a fallen tree removed near your home, you can expect to pay between $100 to $500. Your local tree removal professional will most likely just need to cut and remove the tree from your property, but factors like the size of the tree and its trunk diameter impact this cost. In addition, there will be an extra cost to fill in the hole left by the tree, and while you have your tree removal specialist on-site, it might be worth it to have them inspect the other trees in your yard for potential damage. Trees that have fallen onto your home or another structure, will likely be more costly to remove.

The minimum cost is $500 to $1,000, as disposal of tree debris is between $200 and $300 per load.

Costs can range from $500 up to $2,000, on average. It depends on the size of the tree, the location, accessibility, if there are hazardous conditions surrounding the tree and the environment, and if other work is being done on the property along with fallen tree removal.
Answered by Elan Flores at Flores Artscape in Los Angeles, CA on 01/07/25
It really depends on if it's just lying on the ground or if it fell on a structure. The cost could be anywhere from $500 to $10,000. There's a wide price range because some fallen trees are really easy to remove, while others are very difficult and require a crane.
Answered by Kenneth Kirlin at Carolina Tree Trimmers LLC in Summerville, SC on 01/06/25
You can expect to pay about $1,000 to $4,000 to have a fallen tree removed. Trees that have fallen require more labor to remove than one that's standing.
Answered by Jeremiah Erickson at Chameleon Property Services LLC in Albany, NY on 01/13/25
Budget over $1,500 if you need a tree removed from your yard that’s larger than 80 feet. Large tree removal is a significant project that requires a crane, and the overall price will increase if the tree is close to your house. Typically, smaller trees can cost as low as $8 per foot to remove, while larger trees (over 80 feet) can cost at least $15 per foot.
