+ 1 moreWe scheduled a day/time for Apex to repair our kitchen and stair lights. When they arrived they started to do the repairs on the kitchen light in which the fan still worked but the light did not turn on. They identified the problem in the light switch and corrected the problem. They also fixed our stair lighting that is on an outdoor light sensor. When they finished these two repairs they asked if there was anything else since there was still 10 minutes left for the 2 hours scheduled repairs, so they secured the light switch in the attic for us as well. The outdoor light sensor also needed replacement and they bought the new sensor and came back within an hour to install. Everything is working perfectly. We were very impressed, they are absolutely professional and efficient. We highly recommend Apex Design.
Description of Work: We bought the BigDeal for 2 hours of electrical work by Apex Design. We scheduled a time for Apex to repair our kitchen light and stair lighting.

+ 1 moreI had purchased 2 hours of electrical service for $99 during an Angie's List promotion. (Probably the best bargain around). The appointment was set and confirmed in a timely manner. Dave and Mark arrived at the appointed time and switched out the three light fixtures for me. I was very pleased with their excellent service. Both men were friendly and courteous and cleaned up when they were finished! I plan to call them again to change out some outside fixtures.
Description of Work: Removal of three light fixtures and installation of three new fixtures.

Dave was prompt when I called regarding my special that I purchased and very nice. They arrived on time, accomplished the three tasks that we were hoping to get done within the two-hour time slot and were very professional. My husband was home at the time and could not stop talking about how much he enjoyed Dave and the other gentleman that came with him. We recently moved to IN from out of state and purchased a home requiring alot of work, some known, most not. Needless to say, we have dealt with a lot of contractors and for the first time I can say that I think I have found someone that I can throw my future projects to.

Some things were fixed (loose plates, sparking, and dimmer) but one of our light switches that they fixed still isn't totally fixed because they didn't check the second light switch that turns on the light. Therefore, the light now turns on only from the same switch that you turned it off from and since they are on different floors it is inconvenient. The kitchen light switches that sometimes won't turn on wouldn't act up while they were there so they didn't get fixed. I also didn't didn't realize that having a dimmer installed would cost additional money. They were very nice and polite.
Description of Work: I bought an Angie's List deal for electrical work for APEX this fall after we moved into our new home. We mainly had some minor electrical work that needed to be fixed. We had a light switch that was sparking and not always turning on, a set of kitchen lights that wasn't turning on or flicking some of the time, some loose electrical plates, and they installed a dimmer in our basement.

+ -1 moreThere was some initial difficulty in getting in touch and arranging the visit, but once that was sorted out things went smoothly. Dave came by and looked at the repairs that needed to be done and sent me an estimate of the cost and time to get the work done. Since we are selling our house, the realtor advised us to wait till a seller bids and has an inspection done before starting any repairs, since the problems we were fixing were mostly cosmetic. So at the moment we are waiting for a successful bid followed by an inspection. Hopefully it will not be too long. We expect to contact Apex Design to do the work when we get to that stage, depending on timing, etc of course.
Description of Work: Dave Wilson from Apex Design came by our house to give us an estimate for some repairs.

+ -1 moreWent well. David (owner) and one of his men arrived on time. Checked out the recessed light and found out it was bad. Do to the design, the whole fixture had to be replaced. David had to go up into the attic, which does not have flooring, walked through the insulation and found the fixture. It had to be removed from that direction. They didn't have this style in their truck and in order to save me another trip, they went down to Lowe's, picked up a new fixture, brought it back and installed it. David only charged me the cost of the fixture. They were in and out in 75 minutes.
Description of Work: Fixed the recessed light fixture in my home office. Confirmed the fixture was bad. Went to a nearby Lowes' to get the lighting fixture. I paid $30 for the fixture plus the $99 two hour special. (or two men for 1 hour)

When Apex left all 5 were burning bright. Sadly though, within a couple of hours, we were down to 4 out of five. Now we are down to 3. We plan on getting a new fixture and Apex will be called to install it.

Description of Work: I bought a TV mounting Big Deal for $169 and Apex was fantastic. I told them over the phone that I wanted to have outlet installed in the wall where you could plug the TV in and they said it would be an additional $40 which I thought was more than reasonable.

The installation was quick and professional (even from a 16 ft. vantage point in the foyer). David found that the outside job was not as easy as a bad circuit so we scheduled a second appointment for him to come out and troubleshoot and repair the problem. He was able to find that the original wiring had been cut during most likely during Spring landscaping and needed to be repaired. I now have a working coach light as well as an added outlet on the outside of my home which is never a bad thing! Thanks

Did a bit of additional bracing for the weight of that fan/light and got the fan/light installed in just over an hour. They did a good job with the installation, it works and is quiet, all is well.
Description of Work: I purchased the Angies List deal of 2 hours of electrical for $199.00. The work I wanted performed was to have a ceiling fan put up in my foyer area. I do most of my own handyman work, but I knew this job would be more than I could handle on my own, because of where it was, 18' ceiling, no close adjacent walls, etc.

+ 1 moreDavid and his worker arrived. They completed what they could in the time frame that I had purchased. David came back the following week and finished the work. Then he estimated three more jobs for me and we scheduled them for December 10.
Description of Work: I had Apex Design install lights and electrical outlets in my bookshelves. David is coming back to do electrical work in three more areas in my house. He is excellent. Has a great work ethic and knows what he is doing. While he was working on the bookshelves, he figured out that he could go through the crawl to complete another task that I had asked him about. I appreciate his knowledge. He is also going to install an electrical outlet on the landing on the stairs so I can add a lighted tree. Within seconds, he figured out that he could go through the under stairway closet to do the wiring. I also appreciated the fact that he committed on the amount of insulation I had in my attic. I never went and checked when it was installed, but it is great to know that it is good. When he was working inside the walls, he also told me that I didn't have insulation inside the walls. I would have never known, but now I do and sometime I can address that. He will be coming again on December 10th.

+ 1 moreDavid is very good about arriving when he says he'll arrive and the work is always first class. He came at the last minute because it was the day before Thanksgiving and we were expecting company. The price of the service was very reasonable.
Description of Work: A month ago, David Wilson installed and wired two chandeliers - one above my dining room table and another above the kitchen island. I was so impressed with the quality of the work and the charge that I called him again for additional work which included an electrical inspection of some kitchen wiring and subsequent replacement of the diagnosed defective gfi outlet.

Description of Work: I called Dave from Apex early in the morning a day before Thanksgiving because of a problem I was having with an older outlet in my kitchen. He said his day was pretty full but would do his best to get to me before the day ended. Dave called me when he was in route which was around 5:30 p.m. I greatly appreciate someone that takes care of his clients and goes out of his way on a busy day before a holiday weekend to make sure ours is enjoyable. Dave replaced a faulty outlet that powers our microwave. If we couldn't of gotten it fixed our holiday would of been somewhat difficult to warm up items. Thanks so much!!!

+ 0 moreCalled service provider and scheduled him to install a ceiling fan and a bathroom vent fan. AFter about an hour of working ont he ceiling fan, he said it was defective and showed my wife the light wouldn't come on (I'm now not convinced he hooked up the light wires). He then told my wife the vent fan was too big a job. I should get a different vent fan. (It was actually good advice-I ended up buying a motor, for the existing fan, which was all it needed). The provider then told me he would install the replacement ceiling fan at no charge since he still owed me an hour of work. He returned while I was out of town and demanded my wife pay him $98 for the second call and told her he had told me he was going to charge me for it. Not knowin any differnt, she paid him the $98. I will never let that company into my house again.
