+ -1 moreContractor arrived on time and immediately began work. Installation and mounting of the stand and HDTV was quick. My only concern would have been an option to have a flexible mount that could be easily extended out from the wall to allow for wiring changes to the back of the HDTV. As it is now, it takes two people to make the changes. The issue was more my problem as I didn't research this at the beginning of the process.

+ -1 moreTwo very professional men arrived on time and were definitely ready to work! One used his miter saw to replace some trim while the other changed the knobs and pulls in the kitchen. The dishwasher has a custom door which had to be disassembled to put the new handle on it. This took some time (by no fault of theirs) and they worked through the problem of getting the door to remount correctly. They also hung 9 pictures for us. I would definitely use this company again. They did a great job even when faced with the difficult task of rebuilding my dishwasher.
Description of Work: We used an Angie's List Big Deal to hire this company for handyman work.

+ 1 moreI had purchased an electrical special on line ~ $99.00 for two hours. Dave contacted me almost immediately via e-mail, to schedule an appointment. I knew from the onset that the special covered the labor and not the supplies. I was proactive in purchasing the electrical boxes, lamp holders, switches, switch plate, and light bulbs, but completely spaced the electrical wiring itself. The cost of purchasing the wire thru Dave plus an additional twenty minutes to finish the job resulted in the additional $82.00. Dave was punctual, informative, focused, friendly, receptive to my requests, wore booties in the house, and cleaned up after himself. I would hire again for electrical.
Description of Work: Dave rewired an existing basement stair light to be dual switched. He also installed two basement ceiling pull string lights.

I have had them out twice to do all sorts of things, including, but not limited to: Installing ceiling fan and ceiling medallion, switching six light fixtures, installing dimmer switches, replaced GFCI outlet, fixing a toilet, installing bathtub trim piece, adjusting cabinet doors, installed two outlets where none existed (near light switches in closet and pantry) and more. They arrive promptly with tools needed to do the job. I had to run to Lowe's once because I had provided the wrong item, but they kept going on my list while I was gone. Very courteous and clean up after themselves.
Description of Work: Lots of handyman work on my honey-do list. They are now my "go-to" handymen!

Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal and had them put up some blinds on my windows and sliding glass door. When there was time left they asked if there was anything else they could do and they put some handles on my cabinets. Very nice guys and worked quickly.

+ 1 moreThey arrived on time and very professionally fixed both of my issues. When they removed my toilet to have access to the molding, they found another issue. They then went to Home Depot and purchased the required materials and fixed the issues with my toilet as well. They then caulked the base of my master bathroom shower. The caulking to the shower will have to be redone but I am sure they will stand behind their work. Overall VERY professional.
Description of Work: They fixed the molding behind my master bathroom toilet which had been damaged because of a leak. They also re-chaulked my shower in the master bathroom.

+ -1 moreDave wanted something from me I was unable to give him. I heard what I heard on the original phone call and kept the appointment. He kept digging at me and I finally told him that he was hostile and why would I want him in my house anyway. I don't believe he refunded my original payment and I have paid for nothing but harrassment. This man needs an anger management course of treatment.
Description of Work: I expected Dave to stop by on a Monday morning at 8:00am to look over the chandelier situation. That is what he told me he was going to do. He didn't come on Monday; he came on Tuesday morning and I could not hear his knock as I sleep with a fan on. And, of course, I was not expecting him. He had told me that he would have to rent a ladder to install the chandelier as I have a two story foyer. He then contacted me on email and told me that he knocked and rang the doorbell and I didn't answer. I told him I expected him the day before and had gotten up early and waited for him for two hours. I had not even assembled the chandelier because he had not told me he was going to install it. He wrote back and told me his company policy was one trip per coupon sale and there was no way he would say he was going to just look at the situation and then make another trip to install the chandelier. I replied that I had not been angry with him when I got up early and waited for two hours. Why was he so upset with me? Whatever had happened had been an accident on either his or my part and there was nothing to be done about it. He replied that he wanted me to know his company policy and there was no way he would make two trips to install a chandelier on a coupon sale. I told him my brother was dying and this whole matter seemed unimportant and that I hoped the worst thing that ever happened to him was a missed appointment. I didn't hear from him again.

+ 0 moreI purchased the $99.00 special for 2-hours of electrical work. Apex contacted me very quickly to schedule the appointment. They were punctual and pleasant to work with. When I explained the electrical work I needed done, they did a quick assessment and made some recommendations that ended up working out much better. Not only that, they showed me how a prior electrician had not done the work he said he had done a few years ago. I like these guys and would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: I purchased the $99.00 special for 2-hours of electrical work. I had some electrical outlets replaced and they also installed GFCI outlets for me. They determined why a couple other outlets weren't working and repaired them.

Description of Work: During a kitchen rehab I ordered new appliances from an on-line source. The first job was to remove old countertops, sink, disposal, oven, dishwasher, and cooktop. After new countertops were installed APEX installed the new appliances. Items installed were an oven, cooktop, dishwasher, and garbage disposal. Some modification to existing drains, gas lines and electrical connection were necessary. APEX also installed a new duplex receptacle during the same visit.

Dave performed an assessment of my attic and my roof, as well as all the areas that may have had mold in the attic and walls - luckily I did not have any moldy areas. After laying plastic covering over my kitchen cabinets and flooring, they tore down the areas in my kitchen that were affected by the roof leaking. Water was being directed in the wrong direction leading to the leak on my roof, so a new gutter system was added. They put up the drywall and Mark's great texturing skills made my ceiling match my other ceiling well. I was very pleased. They cleaned up after their work, did a terrific job and were very on task. I will be hiring them again.

Since the coupon was for a limited labor time, this was frustrating because I knew what we needed. When they decided to run a new line, like originally requested, installation was quick. However, due to the extra time, I was charged extra. Original coupon was for $111 but I was charged an additional $148 with little explanation. My fault for not questioning the extra cost.

Well worth the cost and am very happy the businesses on Angie's List offer these great Deals!! I also mentioned to Dave (due to the name of his business) that we were interested in getting a quote for fiber board siding. After they completed my work and cleaned up, I showed him the areas of the house that needed to be done. He discussed trim options with me and his opinion on cost vs value since our trim was extensive and in good shape. He let me know when his measurements/drawings were done and how soon I would hear back from him. I am very pleased with the work Dave and Mark did and look forward to working with him again on our exterior projects.
Description of Work: I purchased the 2 hr Handyman Special for $59. Dave (the owner) was quick to respond by email and was able to schedule our work on my preferred available day. He and his associate Mark showed up 5 minutes before the appointed time, ready to work. They brought booties to wear to protect my floors, but since they are being replaced also, I told them not to bother. I showed them the two bath counters that needed to be removed and the shower rod being installed. They each took a room and had the vanity counters out in no time with no damage to the walls. They carried them out to the curb for me for trash pick-up. Next they got ready to install the new curved shower rod. I told Dave the length of the new curtains and how high the rod would need to be installed. He asked if I also had the hooks I was going to use as these would add to the length of the curtain. I would have never thought of that! They set to work and were done quickly.

They never tested the results. They asked for additional money when problem was not solved. Simple issue of installing dimmers on 3-way switches. Came with an additional worker so time was recorded as x2.

We contacted 4 or 5 other handymen and Dave's professionalism + price hit the sweet spot with us. We accepted Dave's quote, he showed up the day he was scheduled to, and did the work. He even took pictures for us to give to the home buyers to qualify the work done. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Description of Work: We sold our house and during the inspection the inspector found various "violations" with wood rot, flashing, and other repairs needed to sell the house.
