Apex Design Build

I purchased a "Big Deal" thru Angie's List back in December. Because of the ground being frozen, then swamp like conditions when it thawed. My lack of availability (not his) and other factors we finally got together last week and it was WELL worth the wait! The owner was in constant communication with me thru some employee issues & ultimately came out himself to finish the job.

Everything went well. They arrived on time and performed the requested tasks with skill and patience. Removing the swinging kitchen door was a particularly tricky task. It's a uniquely installed, 1940s hydraulic door and took quite a bit of time to take down. They stuck with the task and came up with a way to remove the door with virtually no damage to the plaster walls and absolutely NO damage to the original hardwood trim or door. Satisfied with the work and would recommend or hire again!

They are fine. He did a good job. I like the guy. They were very very helpful and not trying to sell me some. They just came and did what they were supposed to do. I would use them again.

The service person arrived on time as promised and after seeing what I thought was a small problem began to remove the 2 foot section that showed rot. He stopped and called me out to show me that the rot had crept up under the shingles over my garage and asked if I wanted that also repaired. For me it was a no brainer and after a rough estimate I said to repair it. The repair person was professional, friendly and clean cut. It took him two days to complete the job and we have been quite happy with the work thus far. There are no leaks showing in my garage from his repair even though several good storms have passed through since the repair. I would recommend this provider to my family and friends and he is the first I call for any work I need done. I hate to say it since he likely reads these however I don't generally get a second quote as I feel his pricing is fair.

It went fine. It was one guy and he did a very good job. He was thorough and it was beautiful when he finished. He was also punctual. I don't have anything negative to say about them.

Work was started on date promised and was finished ahead of schedule. Company president and foreman walked through the job with me before workmen began. The workmen were professional and courteous with attention to detail. They cleaned up area at the end of each day. Any concerns we had along the way were taken care of immediately. The entire process was a pleasant, trouble free experience.

Apex Design Build is great to work with. Work was to begin on the 8th and completed the 15th. Work began the 8th and was complete on the 12th.Workers new what they were doing. They cleaned up at the end of each day. During the entire process,if there were any concerns, they were addressed immediately.They really do their best to please the customer.

They did a fine job and were courteous.

After watching reviews of siding installs on "the list" for a few months, I decided to give Apex a call. Although they didn't have lots of reviews of siding jobs, they had many pages of reviews for smaller jobs where they were repeatedly praised for their exceptional work ethic and attention to detail. I figured that if they were doing such great work requiring a variety of skills covering both interior and exterior construction, they deserved a call. The owner, David Wilson, came by and discussed the job, and within a couple of days had emailed me a formal proposal for the job. In the days that followed, I exchanged several emails with David to address questions I had about a variety of details. He is very responsive to email communication which is important to me, since that creates a paper trail of what has been discussed along the way and helps to minimize confusion later on. He also was eager to provide me proofs of license, bonding and insurance, also of importance to me. Mr. Wilson then provided me a list of homes in my area where he has performed similar fiber cement siding replacements. Since most all the materials can be priced online, I did my own material requirements calculations, then looked up the prices to compare with the estimates given in the Apex proposal. I felt that the final pricing of materials and labor in the proposal was very reasonable given the overall extent of the job and the Angie's List "special pricing" in effect at the time. On May 24th I signed the Contractor Agreement and paid the 25% down to get the work scheduled. Work was to start June 20 and be completed by June 27 weather permitting. These dates were honored, and work actually finished 2 days early! The siding crew consisted of 3 very hardworking skilled craftsmen who usually worked 11 - 12 hours per day typically till 8 PM. They had a crew supervisor who stopped by at least a couple of times a day to check that everything was progressing well and to see if additional materials were needed. David also walked the jobsite at least daily to check on things. The paint crew included 2 different but equally skilled, hardworking guys that shared the same crew supervisor as the siding crew. The paint guys were very knowledgeable about their craft and alerted me that the paint that I had supplied for the soffits and trim was not covering well. So rather than continue using substandard paint, I was able to resupply them with a different brand that had great coverage and actually cost about half that of the original paint I had supplied. As with any job of this magnitude, even with the upfront planning and communications, there are still likely to be a few instances where things appear to be wavering from the original plan. This only happened a couple of times and getting everyone focused and back on track was simple and effective. If you've ever had a home stick-built from a set of plans, you're likely experienced in how quickly things can get derailed from what you originally anticipated. The key is to have a contractor that reacts quickly and excels at getting everyone back on track. David is exceptionally good at keeping the end game in sight and making sure that what you get is what you were wanting from the beginning. The results then speak for themselves. We are pleased with the work and also look forward to enjoying the new look of our front porch.

I left a message with Apex Design regarding the jobs I wanted done. My phone call was returned very promptly and a date and time was scheduled for the work to be performed. All of the work that I had requested was performed in a very professional manner. I felt that Apex Design really cares about the quality of the work that they provide and is very knowledgeable and responsive. I will definitely call this company for jobs that I have in the future.

The installation went well. The awning was 20 ft long and heavy which made it difficult to maneuver and set in place. They arrived on time and began work early, at around 7:30 or 8:00. No major problems. The awning pitch had to be adjusted after installation but we were able to look at some information from the Sunsetter website that gave detailed instruction on how to do this. Just some lowering of the awning on each side and tightening with an Allen wrench. I am happy with the awning and it looks and works great.

Again, A+ service by Dave and Mark! They are great guys - reliable, fair priced, and thorough. We will be calling them again. Highly highly recommend!

Did everything we asked within the no. of hrs. we paid for.

It went very well over a 4 day period. Todd was very thorough, meticulous and diligent in doing the work in the best way possible that would work the best way for me. He appeared very knowledgeable of electrical work, as well as home repairs in general. He did very excellent and professional electrical work. In areas where he had to cut through the ceiling or wall, he repaired the areas in a professional manner. The drywall was very smooth and did not indicate ever being cut through. Todd also was very neat and always cleaned the affected area up very well upon completing his work for the day. .I was very happy with the work Todd did and would not hesitate in having him work for me in the future as the need arises.

My husband was a little upset about them not being able to seal the floor but the work that they did do was very good. They were professional, prompt, and courteous.

Started May 28th pulling off the old siding- not quite done by end of day. May 29th started installing new siding and wrap, May 30th installation work. May 31st rained out. June 1st after rain stopped came at noon and continued installation. June 3rd finished installation. June 4th and 5th- prep, caulking and painting. Crew worked very hard with long hours. They knew what they were doing. They were capable, friendly but limited in their English. The foreman was the go between the workers, the homeowner and the business owner Dave. The foreman and Dave took care of the details. This is a good set up. Dave would check by about every second day and the foreman was there at the beginning and end of the day. It is a professional operation. Dave is the business owner and the presenter of the product. He's a nice chap and is always on time for meetings and gives you exactly what he promised. The product seems good- time will tell. I'd rate this operation highly and would certainly recommend. The price was below expectations and the final outcome excellent.

It went flawless, I called Apex to book an appointment at the time they were booked out 3 weeks. I didn't mind waiting for them to get to me. Very pleased once again!!!

Not well at all. They came in a hurry. Angie's list gave they lots of work and seemed overwhelmed by all the work. After they were done and left my house the wiring they did came apart and I had to go into the attic and reconnect the wire nut. Will never use them again!

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that we purchased. They were very efficient. This was the first time we've used them.

Not well. Fixtures were put up, one was placed in the back screened in porch, when directions were to be "placed on the four corners of the house". Electrical line was cut, now requiring us to secure the services of another electrician to get electric from the fixtures to the junction box. There was also some confusion about time of arrival and when I called to inquire, the Mr. Wilson was curt and unprofessional. He also used inappropriate language w/ my husband.

David and Mark did a fantastic job and were able to almost complete a list of chores that I was unable to do due to complexity/time. They completed 95-99% of the work and did a great job. They were both personable and professional and we felt very comfortable having them in our home. They completed repairs of doors/doorknobs, boards on the porch, lights (interior/exterior), electrical, and replacement of smoke detectors. I would highly recommend Apex in the future and will definitely have any larger jobs quoted by them as well.

Dave came in with another man and started to work immediately after I gave him a list of jobs to be done. I need several light bulbs changed in my kitchen which has high ceilings. He used our ladder and got that done very quickly. Several other small jobs were done -- hung a flagpole, fixed curved shower curtain rod, etc.

I used them last October. I was not happy with them at all. There were two people and all they did was two closet lights. I just don't like that when two people come for one hour. I was not expecting that. Only one person can work on a certain job. For one hour, he did wasn't enough to do what I actually want it done.

Two guys came out, worked quick and did a great job. They seem to be professional, they wore booties, went to work immediately. They were right on time.

We talked by phone. I questioned what kind of spindles would be used and was told they would be 2 by 4's to increase strength. There were no spindles placed. The 6 steps had only a top hand rail. When I called to question about the spindles, I felt I was treated very rudely and was informed that the steps were for safety not looks. I requested some type of closure since we have small grandchildren visiting and they could fall between the top rail and the steps, falling on a cement floor. He did come back out but charged us extra to put a horizontal 2/4 board on each side to prevent falls. This does not look like a professional finish, it is unsightly and looks like an amateur did it. We have other jobs that we need help with but will not hire this contractor. He does not take pride in his work.
