Apex Design Build

This was a scheduling mix up on my end. I thought they were coming tomorrow and they were due to come today. I spoke with the company and after advising that I would call off of work since they were coming today, they asked if I want to just get my money back. I did not feel too good about that. That made me uncomfortable and I would rather not work with a company that jumps to that as a solution to this simple problem. I would like to have my money back.

David was very prompt responding to my quote request, making an appointment, and providing a written quote. We were soliciting several quotes, so when he didn't hear back from us, he followed up to make sure we didn't have any further questions. His was not only the most reasonable quote, but the most thorough. He immediately gave us a date when they would start, and ended up calling the week before that because they had finished another job ahead of time and wanted to go ahead and start our job! We had a project supervisor named Isis, who was very nice, kept regular contact with us, and was very good at checking the work and seeing that it was to our satisfaction. The men worked until almost dark every day and did a fantastic job of cleaning up the work site every day! They finished ahead of time and the work was exceptional! We couldn't be happier. Highly recommend these guys!

Jason was a perfectionist at making sure my lights were put together correctly and were not slanted. Overall, they arrived on time, did a great job, were friendly, and were out in 90 min. What more could a customer ask for!? I would definitely recommend them for any home projects.

The deal was for two hours of electrical work. Two men showed up and spent a bit over two hours replacing an old, burned out bathroom fan/light unit. They were courteous and professional.

The service has gone well so far. I had them switch out the lights in the basement. I also had them give an estimate on a light fixture in the stairway. I thought the estimate was really good and had them come back out. Their estimate was made very clear and they stayed within the price range they quoted. They also offered to come back out for plaster repair and were very accommodating. They exceeded my expectations. They were very clear and precise in what needed done. I paid a small additional fee for wiring and a switch and thought it was well worth the pricing. The staff has great communication skills and are very responsive. I plan on using them for future projects as well.

Excellent. David was extremely responsive and professional. He was able to quickly diagnose the problem and recommend a course of action. He knew his stuff really well and answered all my questions (he even sent the hardie plank installation procedures and instructions to help clarify my question). His estimate was very reasonable and I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Apex, in my opinion is a very reputable and effective company to work for you and your home needs. They demolished and then redid our master bath with extensive tile work. They were punctual and professional, informing us along the way of work and adjusted to the changes we made to the original agreed upon work. They left the job site every day after they cleaned up after themselves, they protected our carpeting and other flooring in our home to prevent damage and dirt. I have worked with numerous other handyman and small construction companies in my 18 years in Real Estate and I am telling you that this company does great work for fair prices. I don't want to share the exact dollar of the job and believe that every job should be negoitable for both the homeowner and the laborer and thus I don't want to prejudice what the market will bear. Also, Apex is set to come back to our property for a walk thru to see if everything is in top shape after to correct anything. I will put in that call and see if their follow up is as good as the service that we had that we think is outstanding.

Jase and his assistant arrived on time. They were not electricians but said they had many years experience doing electrical work. Fine by me. Some wires underneath our dishwasher had burnt and melted and I wanted to know why. Also I wanted to find out why the circuit breakers in the garage were mislabeled. After 15 minutes, Jase determined that the circuit breakers were actually labeled perfectly and the wires had burnt because they hadn't been twisted tightly enough. A very easy fix. It literally took 2 minutes and a plastic cap. Jase was very friendly and said he felt bad that I paid so much money for such a simple fix. He said that he would talk to his boss about not making me pay. I said I would be happy to pay $50 for their time and travel. A couple of weeks passed and I never saw a refund so I made a call directly to Apex. I got a prompt call back telling me that I was out of luck. Also, the plumber that came to fix our dishwasher alerted me to the fact that our 'electrician' hadn't connected the ground wire.

The service went well. I had them do a variety of electrical projects for the house. One electrician came out and completed the job in less than 2 hours. They were professional and punctual. They got the job done and I had no problem scheduling the deal.

Started by purchasing a big deal. They did such a nice job, we continued to schedule more time and jobs with them. Very reasonably priced for the services performed. One minor issue was very appropriately handled by the owner. He was very responsive and fair. I respect that. Will definitely use them again.

Great job. Quick and efficient.

Suggested cutting foam board and putting them over my crawlspace vents for the winter. The problem is, they used Liquid Nails to attach the foam board. I complained and asked them to come back and remove the liquid nails and then they charged me $88.98 more to do so.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They did a good job. I didn't pay any extra.

I was told that an awning installation was $295. But there was an Angie's offer of 8 man hours for $299. David at Apex said that they installed awnings and that they usually were done in 6 to 7 man hours. So I thought I could get one or two small jobs in addition to the awning if I went with the super deal. The workers came on time. I offered to show them the installation video but they declined. I provided them with the full installation guide. They worked and took some breaks. Then, at near the end of the four hours, they were done. And when they pushed the button - the awning went....... down. So they had to rotate the awning 90 degrees and make other adjustments. And, in the end, the awning worked perfectly. However, they went over the four hours. To their credit, they did not charge me more. So, in the end, I did get my awning installed to spec and I am enjoying it immensely.

They arrived the day after we called them and finished the work in a couple hours. We have had no problem since.

The house had not been painted in 7 or 8 years (or more) and there was a lot of rotted wood in the eaves and nail holes in the siding. They showed upon time and did the whole thing in 4 or 5 days. The place looked brand new when they left. Neighbors did not recognize the place. Nearly a year later the place still looks great.

Great, we have an old house and he was very knowledgeable and did a great job.

Said work would take 5 days. It took 8 days plus a weekend for a toal of 10 days that we couldn't shower at home!

The repairman came out and took out the old outdoor outlet. I gave him the new outlet and plastic cover (so water wouldn't short out outlet). He finished in about 45 minutes (I purchased a 1 hour 99 special). So, that was good. I didn't have any other project and so left. I was looking at the outlet and my outdoor light that was plugged in there. I figured out that the outlet and attached plastic cover was installed upside down! I immediately called and left a message with the company. The repairman called back and said he tried the put it in that way first but it wouldn't work, so he installed it upside down! I said I wasn't happy and when ut rains, the water will follow the cord directly to the outlet and cause a short. He assured me that it is back in the unit and not to worry. I have plasic edging placed over the unit so water won't hit the cord to go into the outlet. NOT HAPPY.

We are VERY happy with the look of our floor. We are very impressed with Apex Design. A professional company who does quality work. We would highly recommend Apex Design for all your home improvement needs.

The deck was purchased as part of an Angie's List Big Deal for $1500. The size of the deck was increased which was partially responsible for the increased price. I additionally requested 2" x 8' lumber be used for the support instead of the proposed 2" x 6" timber on the proposal. Positive notes: Team was very friendly and efficient. The builders took it upon themselves to build a higher than typical railing to accommodate my taller stature. This feature has received favorable comments from many of my friends. The deck has become a very popular location for relaxing and evening dinner. Critical comments: I was hoping to see detailed plan for the structure prior to building but instead was only shown a few pictures of other completed decks. In the communications, I did not see the information stating it was my responsibility to obtain the building permits. The deck looked very nice at the time of completion. After allowing a few weeks for the timber to dry, I had the deck stained to help with weather protection. It has been 10 months since the completion and some of the railing boards are warping and two of the six 4" x 4" support timbers are splitting. I can repair/replace the railings but I am not certain about the support posts. I was aware that the building crew purchased materials at the local Lowes, but I would have hoped that their building experience would provide materials compatible with our weather. Overall, I think I could have done the job just as well and was hoping for a bit better.

I have no issue with the quality of the work performed, but I was not happy with the overall experience. The deal advertised "$99 for 2 hours of licensed professional electrical labor." Two individuals arrived at my home and performed the work, requiring approximately 1.5 hours to install two ceiling fans. I contacted David Wilson (owner?) and was told that the deal was for "two man-hours". I am not an electrician, but I don't understand why installation of a ceiling fan requires two individuals and I did not understand from the offer that the deal meant "two man-hours". In general, one individual performed the work and the other individual appeared to be just standing and talking. Why am I paying for an Apex Design Build / Fiber Cement Siding employee to stand and talk? In general, I should understand, prior to the job, how many individuals may/will be sent to perform the tasks and provided a "ballpark" estimate regarding the approximate time frame needed to complete the described work. I should not pay for standing and talking.

They were very friendly and responsive, but we're going a different direction with our project.

I requested quotes from 4 companies to replace siding, windows & gutters. I had a hard time getting one of them out so I asked a 5th company. After reviewing the quotes, 1 had no detail, 1 did not get everything I asked for and 1 was very expensive. The two remaining I asked some questions and Apex had the most detail, was the best price by a little. What I was impressed most of Dave at Apex is that he really understood what we needed and wrote it in detail in the quote. The first phase was a small crew to replace the windows. They were expert carpenters and they were very detailed oriented. They even sent a window back because of a scratch that I probably would not have noticed. The cleaned up inside and out after each window was replaced and overall did excellent work. The second phase was a larger crew who ripped off the siding wood siding and replaced with fiber cement lap siding. They were very good at their job and did an excellent job of doing everything right. They obviously took pride in their work and were very hard workers. They then painted and took pains not to get paint on anything but what they wanted. During this phase Dave found an area that was rotting under the siding with ants nest and all. They repaired the floor joists and the sub floor. They were very fair on the price on this extra work and it was a relief to have this fixed. The third phase was the garage door and the vendor did an excellent job replacing the rails and the door was very nice compared to my 30 year old door. In addition the gutter guys came and did a great job and were done in less than 4 hrs. The last phase was any touch up and adjustments made during Dave's inspection and mine. I only had a couple of areas that were very picky but they took care of them. The house looks outstanding and we have had dozens of people stop and tell us how much they like the house and how new and fresh it looks. It was a great investment that I am confident that we will be worth at least $10,000 more than it cost me. Great job Apex and crew!!!

Dave and his crew were courteous, prompt, and reliable. I had purchased a new vanity, faucets, and tile, and wanted to keep my soaking tub so as to keep the overall remodel cost down. We are very pleased with the quality of work provided, as well as the appearance of the completed bathroom. I highly recommend this company for anyone seeking to remodel.
