The representative was on time. He was very polite. He asked me what service I needed and where I had seen ants inside and outside. He informed me of his plan to start outside and then finish inside. While he was outside he saw a lot of ants in another place I did not know about and he applied treatment. He completed the treatment inside. I asked them how long to keep my pets away from the treated areas inside. He answered my question. Overall, I'm pleased with the service. I have seen three ants since the treatment, but nothing like the amount I had seen in the past before treatment. I would recommend this company and I would use their service again.

It went really well. First, they came to my house to inspect the work and recommend the specific materials they would need to do the work. While purchasing the materials at Menards, I had a few questions and was able to catch them by phone on the weekend to get those questions answered and buy the stuff we would need. Then two guys came out to do the work and it was executed well and to my satisfaction. They had to get pretty creative to do what I wanted them to do and they did so without issues or complaints. In the end, my windows and trim are truly repaired and are waiting to be painted.

Ignore all the "A" reviews on this one, this is a crooked operation (explanation below): They came out and put in 2 outlets above my fireplace so that I would be able wire the TV which was to hang above the fireplace. They did a good job with the outlets and then proceeded to install the TV bracket. There were to studs available, but my preference was to center the television above the fireplace. I was told that centering would not be possible with the studs but centering the TV would require to get toggle bolts, a solution they claimed they often used and worked well. I double checked that the toggle bolts would indeed be a secure solution and they assured me that these bolts could hold weights far heavier than my television and are a tested and good solution.I went ahead with their advice and ran to Lowes to get the anchor Toggle bolts (Made by Toggler). This past Saturday my tv fell off the wall and the anchors went right through the drywall. Now my television is completely smashed, the drywall needs repair. I went ahead and contacted David Wilson who is the owner of Apex Design Indy to correct this situation. I was very polite and cordial and provided him with all of the needed evidence to show that I played no malicious part and this was caused by poorly given advice for a solution that failed. The only reason I hired professionals to do this work was to avoid this situation and since they installed the bracket and advised me of the preferred solution, I held them responsible and was looking for them to make me whole for the cost of the television replacement and repairs. I even went as far as temporarily halting my Angie's List complaint process so that David and I could settle this in the right manner. Through this whole interaction David was unpleasant, rude, and confrontational. Instead of treating this as a situation where a business should do right by their customer, he made me feel like he was talking down to me and like I was wrong about the situation. Aside from the awful customer service he attempted to shift the blame and pass the buck to the bolts manufacturer and even as far as to say that he can't be liable for the drywall in my home which was there already when his workers arrived. This was especially ridiculous as these are the guys that drilled 6 patches through my drywall and studs to install my outlets properly, and then advised my to use toggle anchors. I would imagine that if my drywall was not in a condition to support the toggle anchors they would have been able to tell after spending 3.5 hours working with it. If not, then maybe they are not the "professionals" they claim they are. Take a look through the rest of David's "F" Reviews, he constantly fails to do right by his customers and piggy-backs on the good reviews that he has. He is the type of service provider I was looking to avoid by going through Angie's List, and I recommend you avoid his services at all costs. I am sure he will respond with some story below, like he has with the other "F" reviewers but take anything he says with a grain of salt as he will just be attempting to save face. STAY AWAY FROM APEX DESIGN INDY.

Response from Apex Design Build
To whom it may concern: Below you will find my explanation and position in regards to the case with AngiesList member (Member name removed) Mr. (Member name removed) initially purchase a 2 hour electrical coupon from my store front on April 23rd, 2015. I contact the member to schedule his initial service which was scheduled for April 29th @ 9am. My technician arrived and was asked to run an additional outlet to the area above a framed fireplace. To install the circuit wiring the technician had to make multiple penetrations at lower areas of wall to route the wiring. There was another gentleman on site performing work for this member at the same time and my technician had to leave before work was completed as he had multiple appointments for the day. Mr. (Member name removed) had called me during the latter part of the initial appointment (10:21am April29,2015) to request an additional appointment as soon as possible to complete the electrical outlet installation. I informed him that we could schedule for the next day April 30th arriving at 1pm, he accepted and I scheduled. Upon return for the second appointment my 2 technicians proceeded to run the remaining portion of the electrical wiring. The client requested we mount his provided TV mount. The client directed me technician to install the mount at the center of the wall area above the fireplace. My tech informed him that the mount would not fall onto studs to properly secure the mount and suggested the use of heavy duty toggler bolts rated for 265# each when installed in 1/2'” drywall. The TV mount bracket was installed by my technician, the TV was not placed upon the bracket by my men at the time of the appointment. The client or someone he instructed placed onto the bracket. This client called my phone on Saturday May 23rd at 4:27, he did not leave a message or call again until Tuesday May 26th and called at 8:03, 8:40 with no messages. He called again at 8:42 and left a message saying that he had some questions. I returned his call at 9:33, client claimed that his TV just fell off the wall on Saturday (3 weeks after installation of bracket on 4-30-15). First question I asked was may I come by and see what had happened. Client denied my visit and said that there was nothing to see, the damage had been taken care of and he would send me pictures via email of the damages and TV. Being denied of a site visit to see damages and such threw a red flag up with myself. As who would initially agree to pay for damages they are not allowed to view. I asked for the receipt and information for the TV mount as well as the TV so I could review the size and weight of each. The client send all information right away within a 2 hour period, 3 hours later he emails me and asked how soon he was going to be reimbursed. I informed him I would need to review the information and contact the manufacturer as to why the fasteners had failed. He contacted me several times over the next couple of days pushing for a speedy settlement. I did get short with him and told him I would not make a decision until I received a reply from the manufacturer on what may have happened for the supposed TV mount failure. Upon the reply from Toggler Corporation attorney and research and development. I emailed the client and informed him that I did not feel we were negligent in out installation methods. I also expressed my concern as I had told him all along that it appeared the drywall may have had undue stress when TV was placed on it by himself or that someone may have slipped and grabbed the bracket while painting. It appears from the pictures the client sent of the TV that the walls of the residence were not the color as they were when we installed the bracket. My technician informed me the walls were not black when he was there. So I am not sure if this is even his residence in the pictures. As you can see from the client’s original review prior to my reply on my position of this matter. He clearly states that he directed the install to center on the wall and was informed of no framing members being present. The product suggested is clearly more than enough to handle the 35# bracket and supposed 40# TV. We never handled the TV to know the exact weight, brand, etc. Below is the copy/ pasted email from the Toggler manufacture attorney: Dear Mr. Wilson: I have reviewed the pictures that you sent to David Garfield with Ted Garfield, the president of MPC. It is clear from the pictures that the anchors did not fail but that the drywall as installed was not strong enough to resist the force that the television and mount exerted on the wall. There may have been undue pressure applied onto the bracket at some point which may of weakened the wall covering. The pictures show that all four of the anchors are in place and still attached to the television mount. The pictures also show that the anchors art in one piece and are still holding sections of the drywall to back of the television mount. As it appears that the failure of the drywall’s structure integrity and not failure of the anchor which caused the television to be damaged, MPC is not responsible for the loss. The homeowner’s insurance policy may cover his losses. He should check with his agent. Respectfully, Davis S. Schwan Again to reiterate my position on this matter. I do not feel that my technicians were negligent in the installation methods of the clients provided bracket and fasteners. There was an elapsed period of time and other circumstance beyond our control that may have caused the failure. I have consulted with my attorney and intend on maintaining my position. Thank You, David Wilson Apex design Build Inc. 317-629-7638

We decided to go with David Wilson, because his bid was in the ballpark, he had good reviews, and we liked his input on the design of the built-in closets. He was very responsive and polite. We saw David exactly twice during the 10 day remodel process. Charles and Frank started the actual job as subcontractors. They were great, pleasant to have in the house, worked around us, and did a good job. When they encountered a problem with some load bearing studs a couple of days into the job, they called David in to discuss. David talked to the guys, and left without ever talking to me about the outcome. Charles then asked me to sign a change order for an additional $1,200 for installing a stronger beam, reinforcing the wall studs, and some addtl electrical work. We understood - there is always unforeseen circumstances in remodeling. After seeing David the first day, he never touched base with me again, never talked to me about the change order, never checked in with me during the process, although as a stay-at-home mom, I was at the house most of the time. The walk-through was done by the subcontractor, Charles, because David was otherwise engaged. After the job was done, and Charles and Frank had cleaned up, I noticed the next day, that the glaze on our wood floors had come off in places where they had used blue masking tape to hold down the paper they had put down to protect our wood floors. This was not just in areas where the sun was hitting the floor, but also on the north side, where no sun ever gets to. I contacted Charles and Frank, and they came out to look at it. They were shocked, and said, they had used blue tape for delicate surfaces, so this should not have harmed the floor at all. They contacted David. He was not happy with me, that I had contacted his subcontractors about this instead of him. I explained that I had done that because Charles and Frank had been the ones communicating with me throughout the process. When he came, he said that he had never seen anything like it, and was quick to state, that the floor glaze was unstable, maybe weakened by sun exposure. Then he stated it looked like the floor had been improperly redone, which we doubted, since the house is only 6 years old. We had just recently bought it. He then came out with a floor expert, who had not seen anything like this either. But he said the floor had the original, factory applied seal, and that it was unusual for a floor to sustain damage from blue tape (assuming that tape for delicate surfaces was used). He did not have an explanation, why the glaze had come off. His quote to fix it was for $1,000.00. David forwarded the quote offering to pay up to 1/3 of the cost. We were very disappointed with his response. We would expect from a reputable company to take responsibility for damage done to the customer's house, not blaming it on poor quality floors. Something was off. Granted, the wood floor was not in perfect condition. But this should not have happened. Warranty for the floors did not transfer from the original owner, and homeowners' insurance doesn't cover this. But online we found some discussions, where blue tape had done damage to wood floors. Then we were missing some regular blue tape we had bought for a painting job before the remodel, and which had been laying around the house. It would be easy to confuse a regular blue tape not safe for wood floors with one for sensitive surfaces. It is possible, that the wrong tape was accidentally used. We did a test ourselves, right where the worst damage had been done, with blue tape for delicate surfaces. We left it on for 10 days, as long as the remodel had taken. No glaze came off when we pulled it. We told David, that this could be considered an accident. We asked him about his insurance repeatedly. He would just ignore our question completely, never comment on his insurance, and just talk about the repair process. We started to suspect, that he may not have insurance at all, or a high deductible. Getting tired of it, we settled to split it 50/50. That's finally when David mentioned insurance: "This matter did not warrant a claim on our insurance as it could be handled out of pocket". Sure, after we agreed to pay half. Most of APEX's reviews come from little handyman jobs, solicited through Angie's big deals. The jobs are done through subcontractors. His specialty is siding. Think twice about hiring APEX/David Wilson for a remodeling job. Ask for his insurance certificate. And be prepared to fight harder, if something goes wrong. We would hire Charles and Frank again, if ever they decided to go into business for themselves. They take pride in their workmanship. They felt terrible about what happened. They want to do the right thing. But we would not hire David Wilson again. As owner of the company, it is ultimately his responsibility. But he didn't have a desire to do the right thing, he didn't care about the impact on his customer, only about the impact on this checkbook! I give it an overall C, because the job was done well, but it's the owner's way of handling an issue (F), that brings it down to a C. It is how a company handles customer complaints, that truly shows the quality and integrity of a company.

In scheduling the service, I was advised via email that I needed to have all supplies on-hand, and, if not, then part of the 4 hour service package I bought would be used to go to the store to purchase supplies. The deal did not advise in the fine print at the time of purchase that I would need to provide the supplies. I responded via email asking what type of supplies would be needed and offered to send photos of the areas needing repair. I never did receive a response to my email. The repairman who showed up for the work went to Lowe's to buy the necessary supplies ($29), which I had to reimburse him for. However, the repairs only took 2 hours, so I'm not sure that I really got the true value of the deal ($179 for four hours plus I then had to pay for the supplies). Repairman was very courteous and repairs did look good.

They did a great job. The roof was done in one long day. The job inside was huge. They did it much more quickly than we'd expected and it looks fantastic. Any problems that came up were dealt with immediately and to our satisfaction. We've already recommended Apex to our neighbors who need a new roof and we're planning to use them again for other projects.

Prior to the scheduled visit, I was contacted by Apex and reminded that I needed to provide the sill and moulding materials for the repairs. Alex arrived at the scheduled time and we discussed the windows that needed repair. He fixed three window frames/sills within the 4 hour visit and also bonding primed the wood and caulked around the replaced sections. Alex was absolutely terrific-this was a bargain--a job well done and well worth the money.

Mr. Wilson, I contacted you on the date of the handyman services when Alex had taken tile off the wall and also the floor, stating that the sink vanity would not fit unless he did so. As you saw when you came back to fix the problem, as you stated "you would make it right", you saw very clearly that the tile should not have been removed from the walls or the floor. You told me that you all 3 people there (including yourself) to fix the problem. You stated you brought your tile guy with you. Once you saw the problem (and you stated as much), you instructed your guy to go to the hardware store to get the needed tile so the walls could be fixed. (The tile that was installed does not match in color, but I'm trying to just move on). You then suggested that simply placing the vanity a little over to the right would fix the floor mishap, as the vanity would cover where the tile on the floor was chipped away. I agreed and the sink vanity was placed and screwed in. That probably took 5 minutes. Alex is a nice guy and I do not think he was malicious. I do however think that I need to be made whole and not have to spend additional time and money to fix something that was out of my control. I did not tell him to do that, he told me he had to. I asked him "are you sure?" and he said yes. As I said to you, seems to me handyman 101 should be "Measure twice, cut once." Not "eyeball it and hope for the best." In the meantime, you stated to me that I had 2 additional handyman-for-a-day coupons that I had evidently purchased. I was completely unaware of this. You showed me on your phone. You said you could do more stuff if I chose. I said I would consider it, but did not know what work that would be, nor did I have a list. You came back in to the house to look at the downstairs bath floor. I mentioned that maybe that would be something. You pulled away the carpeting that was there (took you 2 minutes) and said, sure we can put in a tile floor here. I said ok, well I do not have any tile right now. I was on my way out to get something at the hardware store for other trades that were there. You suggested I get some tile while I'm at it. (The epoxy floor was being put down in the basement and the fumes were heavy. I had advised you of this but said that since you were working on fixing the upstairs bathroom tile, floor and vanity issue, it would probably be ok for you to be up there, you agreed). I was gone for 30 minutes. I did not come back with any tile as I decided it would be a rush decision and I might not like it. When I returned, all of you were gone. The only work that had been done was the tile and vanity sink fix in the upstairs bathroom. 2 guys came back an hour later and picked up their stuff, checked the tile wall and left. There was no additional work done besides the repair work that was done to fix the problem Alex caused the day he was there. You stated when I spoke to you the other day that I owed you for the fix because the time from the other day was already spent. Alex spent just as much time making the mistake and taking the tile off the wall and chiseling the tile floor as you ended up spending to fix that. Additionally, what does it mean when you state "I will make it right." Does that mean you will come out and fix the mistake and then charge me for it? That is in no way making it right. After that day, you contacted me to say that you could not get paid unless I signed something. This was confusing to me since I paid for the handyman service on-line. You said that Angie's list would not pay you unless you had a signed invoice. What you neglected to state is that you were trying to charge me for new work and you were trying to lay claim to another "DAY" of handyman services. One of the triple days I had purchased in error. This is very deceptive. You never said that you were going to charge me to fix your handyman's mistake. You said you would make it right. Forget that the tile does not match, which I am very unhappy about. I was going to chalk that up to experience and move on. You have no claim for additional monies that I can see here. Regarding supplies. I would expect that the tile be purchased by you, since it was your person's mistake (not a miscommunication), and I am not aware that your guys left anything else behind. Sincerely,

It took a long time to get it scheduled. When they finally got there, they were very pleasant and got the job done. It was much more complicated than it should have been or we thought it would be. It was difficult to schedule, but once they were there, they were fine. I think it was done fine. It's like with any professional, I don't know if I am being taken or not. I think they did what was honest. They were pleasant and explained to me what they were doing. There weren't any problems and it cost me more money than I thought it would; but I think it was okay.

I needed to get a sink put into a vanity. For some reason the guy decided to chip off some of my tile on the wall and on the floor. I got pretty upset because it was unnecessary, and was causing more damage than he was fixing. He assured me that he would come back and fix this problem, in which he did come back. A few days later when he came back, they ran to the hardware store to get the tiles they needed to fix the issue. I was getting epoxy done in the basement the same day, but I told them if they wanted to work in the house they could. I had to run some errands and when I came back, the guys were gone. I went and checked the job they did and the tiles didn't match. At this point I was just going to cut my losses so it doesn't turn into a never ending ordeal. I since have been receiving calls from the supervisor telling me that I need to sign an invoice and pay them more money. They are trying to charge me for coming out and fixing the problem that they made. He has also been threatening to put a lein on my property if I don't pay him. I accidentally bought 3 of these deals, and I got refunded for 2 of them, and hes trying to redeem two of them because he lifted up carpet that took 5 minutes to do. He was trying to sell me on using those other two days, but I wanted to see how the fix went.

We bought two Big Deals from APEX through Angie's List. One was for 2 hours of electrical work....I used that deal to have an old light fixture in our basement removed and a new fluorescent light fixture installed...this required a bit of extra wiring. The job took a little more than 2 hours but I just paid the difference...maybe $20-30 more? The second deal was to install a new light fixture in our rental home. It was a ceiling fixture about 15 ft high. APEX rented a large stepladder to get the job done. There was also an issue with a 3-way switch that had gone bad and the technician fixed that as well. Chris was our technician for both jobs and he was incredibly great! Very friendly guy and he knew exactly how to troubleshoot our unexpected switch problem and got everything taken care of efficiently. Would definitely hire APEX again (ask for Chris!)!!!
Description of Work: Switched out light fixture in basement. Also installed a new ceiling light fixture in our rental home.
