It is just me,but I do have help when needed.I will do sub-contracting.

"DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN! We initially hired Scott after he responded to an on line local group. He was kind, sincere and met my husband at our home to review contract. His prices were 1/3 of the competitors. The Job was for electrical work in our new home was over 8,000. He seamed eager to be of assistance. Though he we hired him for odd jobs at our existing home while our new house was being built by the Amish, he was usually late and seemed plagued with excuses of health issues or family trouble that kept him from completing a project in a timely manner. But in the end, he came through with those small jobs. When the new house was ready for electrical work back in mid June, he was at the house daily. He had a small crew of teenage sons and a friend at times. Work was slow but he plugged along. We liked his sincerity, his down to earth spirit, so we hired him for the plumbing job as well. He continued to be attentive and aimed to please us, though work was slow. We then hired him for other jobs in the home that he said he could easily get done. From approx June to Aug,, Scott was down here approx 5 days a week. He had a couple health episode, a son's legal problem, a stalled vehicle of his and his son that kept him from coming to property at times but we were very understanding. It just gets worse from here. Many projects, were poorly done. Scott failed to cap off simple T drains and many of our household items, including family heirlooms , we were storing in the basement of the new home were covered in grey water from the toilet. Although we cleaned them some heirlooms, others had to be trashed. He was slow to fix the problem and we had further leaks from his plumbing job. He bought our AC /heat pump and furnace from a scratch and dent dealer in Lebanon with no warranty. Unbeknownst to us. He asked for money for duct work, that we provided to him and never got it. He would ask for money to purchase materials and never produce the items. He seemed to have a of days where he had to show up for child support court. and sometime at the end of August, he claimed his bank account was frozen by the courts and he was unable to produce items we had already paid him to purchase. He then began not answering calls, not showing up, It became a daily game of asking him if he was coming, him telling us that he would be there at a certain time and never showing. In the last 3 weeks we have seen him at the house approx 5 times. And he stayed for approx 1 -2 hours. The last straw was after 4 days of not answering calls and not showing up, he showed up an hour late, and as soon as I had left to run and errand, he left right behind me, not to answer the phone at all. We offered to help him in gas money to get down to Rockville from New Richmond, pay extra adult crew members just to get the house moving His reponse was always that he was going thru a hardship and we are his first priority. And that he WAS going to get us done. His last message to me was a cryptic complaint that he didn't like it that we doubted his abilities after pointing out some serious concerns in his work. The current state of our house? We have no duct work, we have 20% of electrical not done. A bathroom not done, Insulation gaps in the ceiling, railing that has been purchased but not done. a furnace and AC unit with no warrantly and it is coming into late September. We fronted him on painting, flooring and setting up kitchen. This is only started and a long way to go to be done. We are out over 30 K in monies. We finally fired him yesterday after being here for one hour and never calling us back to speak with us personally. We have asked for some monies back. And have contacted a lawyer for litigation. Don't be fooled by his kindness or sincerity. He is a charlatan and is plagued with unfortunate events in his life that prohibit him from actually finishing his job. I believe this is his M. O. and needs to be shut down."

Modular and mobile home remodels FAQs

The typical mobile home renovation costs around $20,000, with a normal range of $10,000 to $20,000 for a single-wide and $15,000 to $30,000 for a double-wide. Your total will depend on a bunch of factors, including the quality of materials you use (for things like the cost of new mobile home flooring and plumbing fixtures), how much your contractor charges, and the size of your mobile home. The extent of the remodel matters as well. If you’re doing a full gut renovation, you can expect to add between $10,000 and $20,000 to your base price.

Below are some questions we recommend asking a contractor before hiring them for your mobile home remodel:

  • Do you specialize in mobile home work? If not, have you done it in the past?

  • Are you licensed and fully insured?

  • Can you share a list of referrals?

  • Will you subcontract any of the work?

  • Will you handle permits for the mobile home renovation, if applicable?

You can also ask your contractor about their work and payment schedules, as well as a timeline for the project completion so that you’re both on the same page.

There are a few things you can do to keep your bathroom remodel as affordable as possible in your mobile home:

  • Ask your contractor to replace caulk and grout rather than retiling

  • Ask your professional to refinish your tub/shower rather than replacing

  • Upgrade your sink fixtures rather than replacing the sink

  • Upgrade cabinet hardware and ask your remodeler to refinish the cabinets

  • Avoid changing the layout of your bathroom

Any professional that does work on a traditional home with a permanent foundation can work on a mobile home as well. However, it’s best to find a company that specializes in mobile home work. Not only will this help ensure your contractor has the experience necessary to get the job done properly, but it will also save you time in the research phase.

Some general contractors, plumbers, and electricians won’t agree to work on mobile homes, even though they’re licensed to, in large part because of the specialized skills needed to anticipate and fix problems that may arise during construction.
