Noland Electric

Noland Electric came to our home on 3 separate occasions for this particular job order. The first appointment was on Friday 8/22/14 at 8 am. We showed them the electrical outlets that we needed to have installed in our kitchen. They stated that the job would be easy and provided an estimate for approximately $150 to $200, but definitely no more than $200. The granite was installed in the afternoon of Tuesday, 8/26/14. Noland electric came back to our house on the morning of Wednesday, 8/27/14. They really could not do much work because the granite company had not yet installed the backsplash that needed to have the electrical outlets cut out first. However, they did go up the street to the Menards store to purchase blue plastic electrical boxes. They were gone for more than an hour and came back simply to lay the plastic boxes on the countertop. Noland Electric returned on the morning of Thursday, 8/28/14. They were working on the boxes for a while. I had gone upstairs around 10:15 am when I heard a loud noise, sounding like someone was drilling through the granite and the drill slipped. It sounded the same as when the granite cutter was cutting the holes in the backsplash the previous day. I went downstairs and asked Kory, the electrician if everything was okay. He replied, yes, and he should be done soon. He did not say anything about the noise or that he drilled so hard onto the one outlet that he cracked the granite. He quickly finished up and quickly left my home. He did not even restore power to the lights, outlets, or dishwasher by flipping the circuit breaker back on as he was in such a hurry to leave my home. The next day, Friday, 8/29/14, I restored the power to the area by going into the basement and flipping the circuit breaker back on. Once the light was back on, I saw the lengthwise crack around the outlet closest to the sink immediately. I called Noland and within an hour, Blake, Kory, and Alex came back out to my house to inspect the damage. Alex asked me how much the backsplash cost. I replied that I did not know, because I was only provided with a total cost, not a breakdown for certain pieces. Alex also stated that it was their boxes that caused the crack. Blake Noland tried to say the granite company did not install the backsplash securely and the piece was wobbly and that’s why the granite cracked when Kory tried to force the plastic box into the cutout area. After they left, I was inspecting the damage further and noticed that the upper bar area above the electrical box was chipped. When my husband called Noland, Kory stated that Noland was not going to pay anything because it was the granite company’s fault for not installing the backsplash properly. After not hearing from Noland for over a month and the fact that they cracked my expensive brand new granite, they had the audacity to send a bill that was almost twice the amount of the estimate, $305.00.
