We contracted the company to replace our garage floor. A young man was sent to view the job, and take measurements and info back to the office. Mr Bailey came later to discuss our requirements, possible options, and general pricing. We were sent an email with specific pricing for the job which was within our budget. Job was to consist of removing and resetting stairs leading from garage to home, removal of old garage floor, and pouring new floor. Also, patchwork on concrete approach to garage. Work was done in an appropriate amount of time. All the crew were very pleasant and Mr Bailey did come to view the job during and at completion. However, it seemed as if there was confusion as to the stairs (I had to pull my quote to show, yes, they really were to be removed and reset). Upon completion I did point out to the crew that the floor was not sloped correctly and it seemed that water would pool in the garage. I was told no, that wouldn't be a problem. I also pointed out the less-than-seamless tie in with the remaining floor by the man-door and was told that was really as good as it could get. Well, as I anticipated, the first decent rain poured under the garage door and pooled 1\2 inch or more in the garage. I contacted Bailey's and scheduled a meeting with Mr Bailey. He came, saw, and admitted that didn't work out so well. Back to the drawing board.... A drain would be installed, a new weather strip would be added to the garage door, and since they were going to be here anyway, I requested blown in insulation be added to our attic. The repair work was scheduled for Sept. and when the crew arrived they didnt' have all the items needed for the drain, couldn't quite figure out how to blow the insulation into our cathedral ceiling, and didn't have a ladder tall enough to reach the attic space. I was throwing out ideas, provided the ladder, and giving instructions that I truly didn't feel qualified to give. However, all was completed within a few days. The weather strip and drain have taken care of most of the water pooling problem and the insulation finally was blown in. While the crew was very pleasant and Mr Bailey seemed concerned about my satisfaction, the fact remains that a job quoted at $4800 and a week's work ended up costing $1000 additional and several more days work.
