The Appliance Man

Phoned Sears for repair and their earliest appointment was 8 days away. With a refrigerator that was not working and not knowing if it could be repaired or needed to be replaced, it was important we required a quicker response. I found "The Appliance Man" while searching the Internet for refrigerator repair in Louisville, Kentucky. I liked what I saw on their website and Facebook, along with the excellent reviews. I phoned the owner (Kevin), although it was Sunday. He returned my call within a couple of hours and setup an appointment the following day. The next morning Kevin's son, Cody, was on the scene. He was friendly and professional, quickly diagnosing the problem as a failed relay switch, and had the part on his service van. Within 30 minutes our refrigerator was working again, the invoice of $122.53 paid, and life was back to normal. Obviously, I would be happy to recommend The Appliance Man to friends and neighbors.

I called first thing Monday morning and left a message. My call was returned within the hour. They had appointments available on Tuesday, and a note was made that I would prefer a morning slot. I was told that the service person would call me Tuesday morning before ten. It was so. He said he could be there between ten and eleven, and he was. He replaced some sort of tubing which was busted, vacuumed the lint from all parts of my dryer, and replaced the idler pulley, which was supposed to stop the squeaking, but didn't. He then said that the squeaking was because the vent or something wasn't put together very well--something he could of course fix, but it might take some time. Having previously capped our dryer repair spending at $150, and having gone from $69 service call to $109 lint cleaning to $126.22 with idler pulley replacement, all in a matter of minutes, I figured I better quit while I was more or less ahead. I did net $4.32 in dryer change, so that's something. I think you always have to keep a tight hold on your wallet when a repair person walks through the door, but all in all I am satisfied with the transaction. There is also a 30-day warranty, so should I smell that burning smell again, I can call the Appliance Man again or spring for a new dryer.

Repairs were done easily. My only problem was with the office. They apparently don't have a central dispatch. The repairman who is on that day calls you. I had called on a Friday. He could have come on that day, but I had to go out so I asked for a Saturday appointment as they have regular Saturday hours. I waited all Friday afternoon for a phone call and none came, so I assumed they were not going to come on Saturday and made an appointment with another repairman for the next week. I later learned that the Saturday repairman calls you on Saturday morning and tells you when/if he is coming. I don't mind waiting for an appointment, but I don't like being left not knowing when or if someone will come. The person who answered the phone in the office did not explain the system to me, nor did the repairman I spoke to on Friday. They need to do a better job explaining how they work instead of leaving someone hanging. I did call the office on Friday evening to complain and the owner did call me back and explain that someone would call on Saturday morning. I appreciated his call back, but this could have been avoided by an explanation from the person who answers the phone.

I called The Appliance Man on a Friday night after hours and left a message on voice mail. I didn't expect a return call until the following week however, he returned my call with in the hour and was at my house Monday morning. Replaced the bad pump no problem. I was very pleased with the service and will use him again in the future if the need arises.

I called The Appliance Man because our ice maker had quit working after a three week vacation when I had shut off the main water supply but not turned off the ice maker. I thought it might be ice in the line and tried defrosting the whole unit over a 3 hour period using pans of warm water and a fan. This did not fix it and so turned the ice maker off . I left a message with them to call me to arrange a time, but I was also having phone problems at the same time and lost in communication. They were in the area on the Wednesday and came round to check. I gave them the history and when they checked the line, there was water in it. As I had the ice maker turned off for several days, it had defrosted itself. They put everything back together and made sure the unit was going through its cycle and producing ice. As I had inadvertently "fixed it myself", I was only charged $49:00 for the call. They explained in simple terms how the unit worked and what had gone wrong. Very professional. I would call them again in a heartbeat for any appliance malfunction.

It went great. He was very courteous, efficient, and I didn't feel overcharged. He was also very fast. He came out the same day I called.

The Appliance Man had repaired my washer a week before and, based on that highly satisfactory experience, I called them again to perform the refrigerator repair. Received a call back from Dave and described the problem. He agreed that it was the evaporator fan motor and scheduled the repair for Saturday morning, two days later. Shortly after that, the off-and-on refrigerator noise changed to a constant squealing and the temperature in the refrigerator and freezer began to climb. I surmised that the fan motor had failed completely. I called Dave to ask if he could move up the scheduled repair. He was willing to come a day early even though it meant that he would have to change plans with his family. Very conciliatory. Strangely, soon after that, the noises ceased completely and the refrigerator started working perfectly! I knew that the evaporator fan motor was marginal and still needed to be replaced, but the need was not quite as urgent. I called Dave again and we agreed that we could go back to the original Saturday morning schedule. He showed up as scheduled with the proper part and performed the repair quickly and competently. Dave was very patient with me and very accommodating. I could not be more pleased. Very satisfied.

Andre came on Tuesday and quickly determined that the bearing had failed. He scheduled the repair for Thursday. He and his helper arrived and made the repair, tested the washer and instructed me to watch the first few washes. The machine has been whisper-quiet and performs flawlessly, like a new machine. I'm very pleased. I will use The Appliance Man for all appliance repairs henceforth. Guys, just keep on doing what your're doing and you will never lack for loyal customers. Andre and his helper were very amiable and competent. It was a delight to have them in my home.

Dryer not working. Called for a Saturday appointment. Was told they would be here between 10-2. They called at 9:30 and said they were on their way. Told me the dryer seemed fine, but the breaker would need replacing. All for $34. Loved the price and that they were on time as they said. First time caller to this business and just on my experience alone, I would recommend!

I called The Appliance Man and set an appointment for him to come and repair my refrigerator. The soonest he could come was three days after I called. At about the time for the appointment, his office called and informed me that the technicians would not be available and I could schedule another appointment for the following week. There was no explanation given. I told them I would find another service provider.

A week ago I had replaced a control knob myself but it didn't work. As a result, I thought the control unit must be bad. Rick saw that a metal clip from previous knob was still on the spindle of the controller which prevented the new knob from seating properly. He removed the clip and put on the new knob which worked perfectly. Because it was a very simple fix, Rick charged me only $35 for the service call; less than half the usual. Rick was very pleasant, well spoken and friendly. I would gladly recommend him to any of my friends.

I contacted The Appliance Man on Tuesday, he was here Wednesday! In 30 seconds, he discovered why my dishwasher was leaking and it was fixed in five minutes. Then he offered up some advice about my refrigerator, so I asked him a question about my stove, which was uneven. Next thing I knew, he adjusted the stove legs too! And so nice! Very pleased, would definitely use them again and would recommend them to anyone!!!

They provided a quick service call and the issue was user error. They were able to point put what the issue was and did not charge us for the five minute visit. We were very pleased and will use them again.

They came right out. They repaired and cleaned up the mess. It has worked great ever since. I would recommend them to other people.

Appliance Man was working another job close to me, so was ext time I need able to work me in that day! He told me there were two possible causes and he would try the less expensive ($30 vs $180) first! I really appreciated that. He was neat and the kitchen was just s clean after he left as before. Very professional. I will definitely call the Appliance Man the next time I need appliance repair.

They were so nice to work me in the same day that I called them. He cleaned up after himself and was very polite. He did a great job fixing the dishwasher, he replaced the water valve and everything seems to be working fine. His estimate was right on point with the actual cost. I would definitely use him again and would highly recommend him to others.

I called yesterday (6/18) to ask for service. Kevin called today (6/19) a little after noon and upon talking and finding out someone was home today, he came out in 20 minutes. He immediately got to work and assessed the problem with the freezer. He worked quickly and replaced the part. It took about an hour. He cleaned up around the whole fridge and wiped down the freezer. After this, he opened the washer to ensure it was running correctly. He assessed the problem, cut wood blocks to balance the machine (our floor is quite slanted into a drain). All in all, he was at our home for about 1 hour and 30 minutes Cost for the freezer part was about $47. Service cost $122 which was about $48 an hour--$50 to $65 an hour is pretty normal for service charges at most places --and believe me, he worked quickly for what was needed. I would highly recommend this provider again. He was friendly and got straight to the point. I was actually expecting the bill to be much higher, too, so I was pleasantly surprised in that area.

Repaired the washing machine quickly and professionally. Everything seems to be working fine. Would use this provider again.

Identified issue fast and repair was made

I called the provider and left a message after hours. I received a return phone call early the next day. They set an appointment at my convenience. The tech gave me a call some time before he arrived to let me know he was on the way. He was early for my appt. The tech listened to my description, disassembled my dryer, diagnosed problem, and gave me a quote for parts and labor to effect the repair after discussing options. He reassembled the dryer. I decided not to pursue the repair due to the age of the dryer, but otherwise would have been happy to let them do it.

Less than a minute in to looking at the washing machine, he said "I know what that is, and it is not worth fixing." They don't sell appliances, so I appreciated that he didn't even try to sell me an expensive repair on an old machine. Profit to them - $0. I appreciated the honesty. We spent nearly an hour trying to re-create the problem with the dishwasher. Strangely, it wasn't co-operating even though it was ALWAYS happening before. Again, he knew immediately where the problem was. It's a less common brand, so he said that they would have to order the part, but that it would probably be cheaper/quicker/easier if I just ordered the part and called him when it arrived. He spent some time making sure that I was ordering the correct part. Gave me his personal cell # to call when the part came in. Have been using them for several years and will continue to do so.

Rick with The Appliance Man was great, he was at my house just over two hours after my original call had looked up the model of my refrigerator for availability of possible parts that could be bad. Half hour after he was here had diagnosed the problem and was on his way to pick up the part that was needed. About an hour later, part was replaced, bill was paid and refrigerator was working like a new one.

He was awesome when he came out to do the service on Friday.

He was excellent-- came out right away, fixed it for what he said. Also informed me there are other troubles with the dryer but did not try to charge me anything extra.
