The gentleman came as scheduled, did the work and when asked, gave me some great information. What else can I say for a great job well done on schedule and within estimated cost!
Description of Work: Dishwasher which was an old model was not getting dishes clean and was not completely emptying out the soap dispenser. This guy came in and fixed it and now it works like new...courteous man who gave me some really helpful advice about the water temperature needed and some loading strategies. What a great way to know I did not have to buy a new appliance. The newer dishwashers that I have see seem to take HOURS to run and the energy it must take to do one load would send me back to the sink. This old one which is a General Electric was evidently not one that was part of the now ubiquitious "planned obsolescence" that the appliance industry embraces today.

The leak in the washing machine was high up and only leaked occassionally. It took some time and some serious bending on his part to find the leak. He did not have the part on his truck, so he ordered it using his phone. Even though it was late in the day, he had the part first thing next morning and called for an appointment. He came out immediately and repalce the leaking hose. One thing that did impress me was his knowledge of my machine. He wanted to go a certain cycle and knew which buttons to press, even though they were not marked as such. Clean, proffessional. Job well done.
Description of Work: Our washing machine was leaking and I tried to locate the leak and could not. From the recommendations I selected the Appliance Man to do the repairs. He found the leak after much looking, ordered the part online uising his phone, and came back early the next day with the part and finished the repairs. Very neat and professional. He knew his way around my machine.

Called the office and was told someone would call me back to set up appt. When I was called back a short time later, an appt was set up for between 10-12 on the next day which was fine with me. The team showed up at 11:00; they were polite, professsional and friendly and finished in less than 15 minutes. Very good experience.

We called Kevin twice, once about our stove, the other about the dishwasher. On the stove, Kevin showed us how to override the problem when it happened so we wouldn't need an expensive repair. On the dishwasher, he suggested we buy a new one rather than spending too much on the old one. Wow! A repairman who will tell you when it's not worth fixing something. I highly recommend him.

sent e-mail to contractor on Labor Day. Contractor called at 8:00 am next morning. Arranged to send technician between noon and three the same day. Technician called ahead to advise he was on his way. They arrived at 1:20 pm. Quickly determined the problem. Had replacement parts on the truck. Used slides to protect our wood floors. Replaced the motherboard in back of frig. Everything worked perfect when completed. Accepted my Angie's List coupon! Done by 2:00 pm! I would definitely recommend The Appliance Man!

I called his business number. I left a message. My call was returned in a timely manner. He scheduled an appt with me the next day and showed up at the appointed time. He diagnosed the problem and had to order the part. He picked the part up the next day and my washer was fixed the day after that. I will use him again.

Overall experience was great. I called on Monday 9/27 they wanted to come then but made arrangements for Wed. 9/29/12 between 9am and 10am. Andre called around 9am and said he would be there at 9:30, and he was. He was very professional and friendly. I told him about the noise my dryer was making. He took it apart, showed me what was wrong, which was 2 parts that were worn. He replaced the parts and now no noise. He said to call him back if I still had a problem. I have been using the dryer for a couple of days now and still no noise. I was very pleased and will recommend this company to friends and family. As far as the price, I haven't had to have an appliance repaired in many, many years so can't compare it to anything. But when I talked to my friends they said the $140.00 total was very resonable.

Thought we had a dryer problem. The tumbler would roll, but no heat was entering the tumbler. The Appliance Man arrived on time and did a quick evaluation (turned out the problem was due to my breaker box) and only charged $30 (half of the hourly rate). I appreciated their thoroughness and the partial unit discount. Will use again.

The icemaker in our 8-year-old refrigerator quit making ice & the water tube to the ice cube tray appeared to be frozen. My husband tried to melt it with a hairdryer, but it still didn't seem to be making ice. We decided to wait & see what it did after working on it. The next evening, we discovered that water had sprayed all over the freezer and frozen (think Ice Age). I checked Angie's List and got the information on the Appliance Man and called first thing the next morning. It was Friday, so I expected to go without ice all weekend. They said they would have someone out that day & would call me ahead of time so I wouldn't have to sit at home & wait for someone. The guy did just that, arrived in a timely manner and let me know the fellow that normally worked on refrigerators was out sick, but he would give it a shot. He had an idea of the problem from when I called the office, so he had the right part with him. He gave me a verbal estimate, received an okay and promptly replaced the part. Their rates were fair - $83 for the part, $60 for the service call & $30 for labor, then I got $15 off with a coupon from Angie's List. Score! This morning, I have about 1/3 bin of ice cubes. I will use this company again. I am very satisfied. Thanks, Angie's List!

I called on Tuesday, August 7 to set up an appointment for Friday, August 10. I spoke to an office person that took down my information and said that she would pass on the request for a Friday appointment. I asked that I be called back, since I was taking the day off from work. I didn't get a call Tuesday. I called Wednesday morning and the same person said she'd call and remind the repairman of my request. I received a call a few minutes later and was able to confirm my appointment for Friday morning. On Friday morning, I received a call from the repairman to say that he was on his way. Andre arrived a few minutes later, listened to my description of the problem and examined both machines. He looked at the washer first, swinging the door back and forth and examined the hinge. He explained that the hinge design didn't make allowances for adjustments and that a repair would involve complete replacement of the door. I opted not to do that and said I'd continue to slightly lift the door when latching it shut. Andre then looked at the dryer and began to disassemble the front panel. He removed the lint trap assembly and the housing covering the blower fan. He removed a large amount of lint from the blower and the lint trap and cleaned off all of the surfaces. He then reassembled the dryer and checked its operation. The dryer functioned perfectly without the rattling noise. Since the repair, no clothes have been snagged by the lint trap. The bill was for $90 total and was broken down into a $30 charge and a $60 charge. I think that $30 for the quick look at the washer was too much to charge when one considers that there really wasn't any work involved (no disassembly, use of testing equipment, etc.). I understand that many companies have a minimum established rate for inspections, but given the lack of effort required in this instance I don't think that there should have been any charge. I thought the $60 charge for examining and fixing the problem with the dryer was reasonable. Andre was punctual, professional, and friendly. He worked quickly and completed the job in less than an hour. I would recommend this company to others and would hire them again.
Description of Work: I was having problems with a front-loading washing machine and a matching dryer. The washing machine's door latch didn't line up quite right with the receptacle, forcing us to have to lift the door slightly when latching it shut. The dryer was making a loud rattling noise and the lint trap was snagging clothing.

I called on saturday and left a message. Thwy called me back early monday and scheduled the job for that afternoon. Our washer sounded like a train. Diagnosis was that the bearings were shot and we should replace it. The dryer was slipping and taking twice as long to dry as it should. Diagnosis was the motor. I just replace the motor 3 years ago so I decided not to do it again. Never buy amana laundry appliances. The refrigerator ice machine and water dispenser had not worked in a long time. The guy replaced hoses, removed the filter and checked the control panel, but could not find the problem. After double and triple checking everything he was about to give up. I asked if he turned the switch back on, which he had not, and voila the ice and water began to flow. However, in his fooling around with it, he broke the ice maker so that now it only dispense crushed ice. This guy was friendly, but not experienced. He had to call his boss several times with questions that were things he should know.

I've become an Angie's List believer in the few months that I've been a member. I look at the reviews from the top-rated companies, and decide among them based on what's important to me. When it came to appliance repair, nobody had so many reviews as The Appliance Man, and I was very impressed by how many very favorable reviews he had. I called over a weekend, expecting that it would be more than a day before The Appliance Man could come to my house. After all, a lot of repair places have a backlog on Monday morning when they get in and have to work down the orders that come in since the previous Friday. In fact, the woman who called explained that The Appliance Man would have to order a part for my fridge, so it could be the next day before he made it to me. However, after lunch the Appliance Man called, said he had the part, and could come by my house that afternoon if I had the time to meet him there. The gentleman was quite professional. Even though he had taken the time to pick up the part, he was willing to perform the work without using the part. As one other reviewer mentioned, it's possible to bypass the filter so that you can use the water through the door and fill the ice maker -- you just won't have filtered water. I was impressed that the repairman was willing to offer this, since he'd gone to the trouble and expense of picking up the part. He did the work quickly and thoroughly. I was so impressed that I asked him if he could take a look at my dishwasher, which had been struggling to clean glasses in the upper rack. In no time, he pulled the machine apart, removed a clog, and charged me very little for his work. I will now call The Appliance Man first for all appliance repair. I haven't experienced anywhere near this level of quality service and professionalism from an appliance guy before, so I see no reason to take chances with anyone else. Highest recommendation I can give!

Overall it was a great experience. I felt like they were very customer oriented and trustworthy.
Description of Work: I had used the Applicance Man once about two years ago for my refrigerator. They were fantastic. They fixed the heater and defrosted the freezer. The price was reasonable and they were very prompt. The repairman was also extremely informative about refrigerators with good suggestions about buying a refrigerator in the future if need be. Fortunately mine is still working quite well. Therefore I didn't hesitate to use them again this year when I had a problem with my washing machine just stopping. Again the repairman was very prompt and extremely helpful. While he was working on the machine, it started working again. He only charged me the service run. I think the Appliance Man people are very honest and always seem very knowledgeable about the appliance they are working on. The washing maching repairman also gave me a lot of great advice. I would highly recommend them.

The first time we called them was for an issue we were having with our frontloader washing machine. It ended up being a clog that was causing it not to spin correctly and leaving the clothes sopping wet at the end of its cycle. Not only did they fix the clog, but showed us how to take care of it in the future.

Father and son team. They met me at home in the early afternoon the day I called and I couldn't have been more pleased with the service and the timely manner in which they did it. Will definitely use them again, and also will refer my friends and family.
Description of Work: Removed the back of my freezer panel. The heater core had frozen over so they had to thaw it out with a hair dryer. They were very efficient, thorough and explained everything. They replaced the part put everything back together and explained about the warranty on the part. Since they helped me take the food out of the freezer, I took the opportunity to clean it out and organize it.

Called and described the problem. The person at The Appliance Man knew what was likely wrong with the dryer just from our description over the phone. The repairman arrived on time and had the parts necessary for the repair. He worked quickly and quietly and the problem was fixed when he left. My wife works from home. Despite the fact that she tells repairmen that she is working and needs noise and interruptions minimized, most do not respect this. The Appliance Man was able to arrive, on time, and complete the repair with minimal disruption of my wife's work. Although I think that the price was a little high. It was well worth my wife's ability to continue working while he was here. We will be using The Appliance Man for our repairs in the future.

Dishwasher was not emptying water after cycle and small washer arm needed to be replaced. I called on Monday morning. Kevin inspected on Monday, identified the parts that needed to be replaced (drain hose had been crushed) and returned on Tuesday to finish the job. He was quick without being sloppy. He informed me of what needed to be done. He cleaned up after himself. After dealing with large scale operations where scheduling is a hassle and prices are extremely high, I was pleased to have a reasonable price and no inflation of the cost of parts.

dishwasher quit, he was prompt in coming, did fine work, had it going in no time. My only negative comment would be that we did not hear from them the day we contacted them, but then he called ready to drive over and I was not at home as we had not established a time or even a day yet that the washer would be inspected. It turned out not to be a big deal as he just called again after his next job and I was able to make it home fairly quickly to beat him, but I can imagine it could have been a bigger hassle.

I called to schedule repair service for my refrigerator and an appointment was made for the same afternoon. I was contacted with an approximate arrival time and the technician was right on time. He had the part available on his truck and had fixed my refrigerator in less than an hour. The service technician was friendly and professional. I was very satisfied with this service provider and will definitely use them again if needed; and I certainly recommend them without hesitation. I felt that the repair costs were very fair and reasonable.

We used Kevin a couple of times on our rental houses. He was fine and worked with the tenants directly. The last experience we had with him was not good though. He told our tenant that he "loved rentals" because it was easy money. He left without fixing the dryer and he didn't even open the unit up to see what was causing the problem. He said it was lint buildup when in fact the heating element had gone bad. Pretty unprofessional and I won't use him again.

Response from The Appliance Man
I read this post and was upset that because of what a tennant said happened was transulated to me being unprofessional. I do not recall doing work for this member and if I have it has been awhile. I looked thru invoices this year paid and unpaid and no charges. Is this about a call that was made years ago? I am a service company and we make our living on fixing appliances. I try to treat renters the same as homeowners and landlords. If I treated this member in a bad way I would make it right. All they would of had to do is call me and I would of taken action. I have two more men working for me and my son is training also. I warranty my work and stand behind it and so do my men. This is my first reply to any coment that has been said about me or my company good or bad.
