Pella Windows and Doors

Words can’t begin to describe my frustration with this company, but I will make an attempt. Called on August 29th to request service. Don’t be fooled by their “Lifetime Guarantee” sales pitch, that doesn’t include labor, which has to be paid in advance. Call was transferred to service department, after 15 minutes on hold call was finally answered, after they took my money I was told the first week in November was the soonest they could be here, the person I was talking with said “That’s ridiculous” let me talk to someone and get back with you, never heard from again. Final week of October, getting close, strange, no confirmation call or e- mail yet, better call them. They’re getting better, only 10 minutes on hold, only to be told “ we tried to call you” I check my cell phone “no you didn’t” there is no record of a call, and no voice mail message. So, now I’m told the soonest we can be there is Dec. 13th, only to be called 3 days later and rescheduled to Dec. 19th, is that ok? Sure, I just won’t put up a Christmas tree this year, seeing as the tree sets in front of the window and the sash gets replaced from the inside. I did notice an ad in the paper for Pella sub-contractors, which probably explains the problem, my advice to Pella is to have your own crew of installers, not sub contractors, they are giving your reputation a serious hit. Love the window, hate the service.

They never showed. I even had a confirmation email from them 2 weeks prior to the appointment.

Our ordeal began on May 19, 2014 and ended September 17, 2014. I rated the experience as good because the installers, the repairman and the salesman with whom we dealt were great and hard working. I want to be fair to them. Our job included 6 rooms and 7 windows. To be fair, the living room picture window is made up of 5 panels so it is good sized. The dining room window is a picture window with two sides panels that can be opened. These are considered one window in each room for contract purposes. We had a small window in the kitchen, bathroom and 3 in two bedrooms also replaced. We were told because of the age of the house (1960s) everything in these rooms had to be covered for protection because of the lead paint issue. They would do that if we wanted them to do it. We are retired so that was no problem for us to do to our satisfaction. The problem arose in the bedrooms. Our furniture is wooden and large and heavy. The pieces had to be taken down and stored against a far wall or at the very least moved away from the window areas so the men could work. These two rooms were our nightmare because of the type of furniture we have and our age. We were told the entire job would take two days and we planned our schedule around this. The following week we were to have guests spend 4 days and nights with us and we planned accordingly. That gave us a week to set up the beds and move furniture and clean. On the second day of installation we were told that the job could not be completed because they were short of molding material and that we would have to wait another two weeks for the material to arrive. Needless to say I was quite upset. The job consisted of 6 rooms an 7 windows and they were short interior molding for 4 of those rooms and 5 of those windows. The gentleman who relayed the information to us said that whether it was a window or additional molding it would take 2 weeks. We talked to the installers and they said they would check their supply of window molding to see if they had extra. I called our salesman and he worked with us to complete the job 2 days later. That being completed I checked all the windows and found one in the bedroom that had a hairline crack. I called Pella. Our salesman came out and checked. He ordered a new window and two weeks later the repairman installed the window and helped me move the furniture back in place. In July I called about not being able to close a dining room window. Our salesman was sent out and found it needed to be repaired and called it in. I waited a month for a return call and finally called again in early August. We set up an appointment for August 28. The repairman repaired the problem and then found the lock was damaged. Knowing the routine, through him we set up another appointment for two weeks later and on September 17 he installed the new window lock. Would we use this provider again? Only for repairs since a life-time warranty is included. Would we recommend this provider to someone else. Probably not.

I had heard Pella windows were good, within 5 years some of the weather stripping is coming out. Some windows are ok to open and other windows are difficult to open. I had 9 windows installed.They people installing were nice. The product was not.

Very professional and responsive. Pella service engineer adjusted the windows that were installed by a Lowes contractor and fixed the problem.

Shopping for estimates on a bay window for my house, 2 so far, one at $5500 and another at $13,000, quite a price range.Recei ,ved an ad with our Sunday paper from Pella, it was a 2 week only special of 0% apr for 48 months, but the offer expired in 12 days. We went to the Pella showroom in Granger Indiana, it took us 2 trips because the place has odd business hours. We talked to a very friendly and knowledgeable person about what we were looking for and he showed us a beautiful window, he could not give us a price becuse the estimator needed to come out. We gave him our address, 2 e-mail addresses, and 2 phone numbers and we were never contacted. I am not in the habit of begging people to take my money so I never called them. The day after the offer expired I e-mailed the store salesman with my concerns and told him I was no longer interested, as of yet he has not replied.

. The men arrived on time and were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. They showed me how the windows locked and they opened to the inside for cleaning. A few days after they left, a neighbor commented on the "bowing" of the screens. I called Pella and explained the problem and without even coming out to look, they ordered replacements. I stopped by the store today and asked if the screen techs can also find out what's wrong with the locks as they are not working on 3 of the windows. They will send a different tech for the locks. I let them know I was disappointed with the whole process. I placed my order the first of June, it is now Sept. 23 and I'm waiting for a new set of screens to be installed and the locks on the windows worked on. .Pella is known for quality and I expected the windows to be put in and DONE

The installers were great. Came on time. Were professional and respectful. When they left after the install there was little evidence (except for the new windows of course) of their having been there. Only issue was that my sliding glass door broke on the delivery truck, so I am still waiting to get that installed as they had to reorder it.

So far, so good! We had the windows changed out due to the noise they were making so we had them replaced. They look really nice and the install went well! The doors are made out of fiberglass so they are meant to last for a very long time.

The salesman was honest and answered all our questions, and addressed our concerns before we purchased. He even made a return visit when we had a few more questions. Once we decided to get the windows and doors from Pella a date was set for the job to be done. The installers came on the exact date, and were on time. I was very impressed with their professionalism, promptness, and care of our preperty as they worked. When finished they cleaned everything up, made sure we were completely happy and undersood how to use the new window and doors. A few days after the job was done I thought the door was a little hard to slide so I called and withing just a few days a repair came and made a small adjust ment for me and the door now slides a little more easily for me. I was thrilled

We got our first quote from them so everything after that was cheaper. We DID learn from Pella what questions to ask and some important terms to use regarding windows. He was very nice and helpful but just beyond our budget for the job, which was 18 new windows!

It was a hassle getting the work done right and it was quite disappointing because we expected them to do top-notch work and they didn?t and it was not the installers we knew. They eventually did fix it, but it took along time after I had to argue, write letter and stuff. I spent about $8,000 on this job. They were very pleasant when I got a hold of the right people. They put the wrong size window in and it was just a few inches off and the local people were close to arguing about it, so they called somebody from some other place and checked it. They finally decided that they would replace it and were very nice about it once I got a hold of the right people. I am happy with the Pella windows, it was the installation. They were willing to come back and do anything that was needed. I might use them again if they changed the installer.

Overall, their work was great. Their price was reasonable.

WHEN THEY WERE ON THE PREMISES, THEY WERE VERY POLITE AND COURTEOUS. THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL IN THEIR WORK ETHICS. THEY CLEANED UP ALL OF THE DEBRIS AND GOT RID OF IT.

I HAVE USED OTHER BUSINESS'S IN THE PAST BUT I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THEIR WORK. THEY HAVE VERY GOOD WINDOWS AND THAT IS WHAT I WANTED. I NEVER HAD A COMPLAINT ABOUT THEM. THEY WERE GREAT.
