The design process to much longer than I wanted. My first appointment with Case was in January, and I signed off on the design in May. Having their interior designer help pick the materials was invaluable. The construction phase was trying as there were unforeseen issues that came up, like in any project, so there were some delays, but overall not too bad. I'm happy with the result.
Description of Work: They replaced the kitchen floor, countertops, sink, and backsplash. They installed a range hood vent through the roof and they added decorative moulding to existing cabinets. They installed a built-in microwave oven and modified the existing cabinetry to install it. They modified the existing peninsula by cutting down the countertop to a lower level.

a very old master bathroom ( bulit in 1980s) remodeled. Walls knocked down. used a space of (old bathroom, closets, powder room) combined and made into a large, well-lit, beautifully designed modern, open concept bathroom with vanity/bowl, soaking tub, tiled-glass shower, California closets, and tucked away toilet in same area. The lead designer kept us abreast of cost as we work through the design/material selection/ construction phases. ( very nice and upfront about costs). design phase was excellent- gives you an idea of how the end-product looks like. changes can be made on the fly, without causing any damages. Work was done by a team of CASE designers on computer CAD-CAM. We gave our input weekly, until satisfied with the design , then came the phase of selecting materials: tiles, vanity, sink, colors, soakign tub, accessories, etc. we had help from CASE interior designers. then the Construction phase: the master craftsmen are courteous, very professional, punctual every day for 5-6 weeks, until all work is done. they leave the area clean every day, respect the household ( with pets) . We were involved in the day-day progress and give our input during the installation of the vanity (location/height), bathroom accessories, etc... we also had closets installed by California Closets. This team works closely with CASE design team. the end product is a beautiful bathroom. little hassle. The price is right. We will schedule more work with CASE Design in the near future.

We chose Case because of their advertising, referrals, and positive reviews on Angie's List. We were impressed by their fancy showroom and computer programs showing us a 3D image of what our finished product would look like. They were polite, professional, and seemed to know what they were talking about. The design and planning process went smoothly, however the construction was where we ran into problems. Once the framing, drywall, and painting had been completed, we noticed the arch was visibly uneven (we have 15 arches in our home to compare it to, so this mistake was obvious). We pointed it out to the project manager, and he sent the carpenter back to fix it. After two attempts and his insistence that "the numbers added up", we were becoming frustrated because it was still clearly not even. They finally sent another carpenter to help him, and they seemed to have fixed the problem immediately. We also had come to find out that the carpenter they assigned to us had little experience in doing arches (this info came directly from project manager). So, then our issue was why did they not assign someone with more experience OR send with him a second individual who knew what he was doing in order to avoid this in the first place? Also, why did they let him have 2 more attempts before calling in for back-up? They essentially wasted both ours and their time by sending someone in to fix a problem he didn't see in the first place. Once we got over that bump in the road, the painters came back to finish their job. Once they were done, we noticed there were many spots where the paint was not smooth (bumps along the arch and on the trim of the columns), so we called them back. At this point, they sent in their drywall guy to smooth out the arch, which the painters painted again. It STILL was not completely smooth, nor did they smooth out the spots on the trim to my satisfaction (there were bumps and spots that were not filled in/sanded properly despite my asking painter to do them). Finally, the project manager himself came to do the work on the arch and when I complained about the trim on the columns still not being right, he answered that they were still working with the painters on training for those details. At this point I was done dealing with them and just wanted this to be over. In addition, I felt Case did not properly manage the team in a time efficient manner, there was a bit of miscommunication about where our team of carpenters/painters were supposed to be a couple times, and that the carpenters/painters were bouncing around in between several jobs on any given day. Sometimes we get a few hours here and there or several days of no one, and them having to wait around for help/materials. I also felt they wasted a lot of time not by not getting our carpenter the help he needed immediately. This project took 6 weeks instead of the 2-3 weeks they estimated. I realize we may be on the smaller end of remodeling projects, but our expectations were high given Case's reputation, and they sadly fell very short of those. To us, there was no excuse for sending someone inexperienced in the first place, then sending him back 2 more times before calling in for help. If your best person was not available, then we would have been happy to reschedule. We had already been flexible with scheduling and told them we were not in a rush to get this done. Despite several apologies from the project manager, we ended up with a negative view of this experience. For the amount of money spent, it was not worth the hassles. The fact that all of this was avoidable is what frustrates us the most. I still plan to have someone come in a fill in the uneven spots on the trim properly. To end on a positive note, they were polite and cleaned up after themselves.

Our project with Case was not pleasant for us specifically regards the project management. The workmanship is impressive but the process from design to completion was painful. Case only provided one worker at a time at our location resulting in the project exceeding the planned completion date by weeks. Communication was poor and painful at times during the contract negotiation, through the design process and increasing in pain through the project management. I spoke with Larry Green, the owner during negotiation because of unintended wording of the contract on their part, and then again after the project was completed. I offered input from a customer's perspective after completion of the project; no response was received. I took this as Larry not appreciating constructive feedback from his former customers. We will not be receiving quotes from Case for future projects.

We are sorry this project didn't go as well as hoped. I do agree the project management and communication could have been improved. The owner of our company did meet with this client several times and agreed to help them in any way possible, including modifying the design agreement to help out the homeowner. Thanks again for the constructive comments, we appreciate it. We are always trying to improve our company any way we can.

CASE was great in providing examples of what they've done in the past and they do amazing work if you need end to end service and are not worried about price. Their estimate to re-do a 6x 8 bathroom was 24-29K which blew us a way. For the same work and then some, we received qoutes that were half the cost and the same quality work. For a partial wall tear down and a door installation they estimate 12-19,000 and again we found someone else, better and the estimate was ¼ of the cost. Given these estimates together are essentially ¼ of the cost of our home when we bought it 13 years ago, it was hard for us to justify the spend. If you aren't concerned about cost and are willing to wait through their process, go with Case. If you don't like spending more than you need to, look somewhere else. Submit Review

Sorry we were not able to help out this homeowner. After talking to our designers about this situation, we feel like this is not an accurate summary of the project. Custom remodeling projects have many possible solutions and corresponding cost ranges. Its impossible to give exact pricing for projects that have not been designed yet. In this case, we were just starting to explore possible options. For example, we discussed ways to remodel their bathroom that ranged from $5,000 - $25,000, all depending on the scope of work and the detail involved. We are always happy to tailor the remodeling solution to the homeowners budget. I hope this helps explain things better! thanks!

It was not a customer friendly service. We had Joe Reidman come out for the estimate, which he did come out and look at the door while we were not home. At first, he was very friendly and gave us a reasonable quote quickly. However, I had more questions. I wanted to make sure he understood exactly what we wanted. I also had questions about the blinds he added to the quote as I did not think I wanted those. Very quickly, I got the impression that since our job was not a 5 figure job, he did not want to deal with us. His emails became more short. I couldn't get a hold of him on the phone. When I asked about the storm door, he told me to go to Lowe's or Menards and pick one out myself. He also told me we would have to do our own painting ourselves. He left many questions unanswered. I had also told him I wanted a new front door but one that was large and did not include side lights. He came back and said that the designers would change the color of the door and not change the door. No quote for a larger door was ever given. It was disappointing and since we felt like we weren't being heard, we went with someone else.
Description of Work: We asked for an estimate to remove a sliding door. We wanted an atrium door where one door would open 180 degrees. We also wanted a storm door added.

Very pleased with the finished kitchen. Case took the time with us at many meetings in the months prior, to go over every detail of the design and installation. The man who did the majority of the work, Jim Isaacs, was so talented, kind, and friendly. Everyone was kind and easy to work with. We appreciated the man shopping trips with Liz Curtis. She has a great eye for choosing appropriate pieces and colors. Very easy to be in contact with our team at Case during all phases of the job. Very professional!

We are sorry to hear this homeowner feels we neglected to return a phone call. However, our records show we were called in early 2013 over one year ago and that we indeed did schedule a designer twice to visit the home. I don't appreciate being lied to and my time wasted!!
Description of Work: Last summer I called this company to ask if they were in fact the same company as CASE CONSTRUCTION who we had used several years ago and was told yes that they were. I asked them to come out to give me some estimates on doing some work on a bathroom and pouring a concrete patio. After coming here they said they would be calling to set up an appointment to go over the estimate. I called and asked about the patio estimate and they said they were sending another guy out to do the estimate. he came out and said someone would get back with us but they never did. I called today and asked why no one ever got back with us and was told that they would have to send another person out!! REALLY! I told them to forget it! When looking them up here to leave my review I discovered another Case with a different address and called them, I then discovered that they were the ones that I had used in the past and not the CASE REMODELING AND DESIGN! They had lied to me!!!

At one point there was a separate franchised Case Design Remodeling in Greenwood, IN. Today, there is currently Case Design/Remodeling located in Carmel, IN and a Case Construction (no relation to Case/Design Remodeling Indy) located in Edinburg, IN. After reviewing the notes of the phone call, we respectfully believe this was a honest misunderstanding. After a thorough interview with the involved staff, we can confirm there was no deception or lying during this phone call. Under no circumstances would we lie to our customers or any homeowner interested in a home renovation. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and wish this homeowner the best of luck with their upcoming home projects.

We took out formal dining room and expanded kitchen, and the kitchen eating area become the new dining room. We had many design meetings with three designers that put all the designs in a computer in 3D. They showed us all the optional plans in 3D as we were designing them. We know what the final kitchen would look like before we started the project. We paid a design fee, without and contract for construction. Once we were happy with the design then we started looking at the costs of each option. This project cost was more than I expected but they did a great job, in only six weeks. The only delay was that a trim kit got scratched and had to order a now one and wait for it to be delivered. The quality of the job was great I watched every day as the construction progressed. The hardest part was living without a kitchen. We setup a refrigerator and microwave in our living room. My wife made a lot of microwavable meals and froze them before we started the project this helped allot.

We agreed to the $750.00 design fee before they proceeded with the plans and eventual work. When they gave us the price (very high) to do our kitchen, we asked for a cost breakdown. Their answer to us was that they did not provide that. We eventually went with a small contractor who did a superior job for one quarter of the cost.

Response from Worthington Design & Remodeling
Unfortunately, this description of what happened is 100% false. Here is what really happened: We signed an initial design agreement for $750 and provided a ball park budget. Then our design team proceeded to spend almost 50 hours designing a kitchen remodel. These 50 hours would be worth anywhere from $3,000 - $4,000 if provided by an independent designer. At the very end of this 50 hours of time spend helping this homeowner, they were ready to sign a construction contract and sent me the following email: "Hello Larry: We are about to sign a contract with Case for a minor remodeling of our kitchen and we have some concerns that I feel only you can answer. Before we go any further, I want you know that the employees we've dealt with from Case have been professional, courteous and businesslike in all of our dealings with them." After that, the homeowner decided to not proceed with construction. While we always try to make everyone happy, in this case we really dont think their comments are accurate at all. They were given pricing breakdowns and options several times during the design phase. Our pricing was right in line with hundreds of other projects we perform for happy homeowners every day. thanks.
